Rockfordmom Posted November 12, 2017 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We save any unwanted, unused and duplicate gifts we receive during the year and donate them to the Salvation Army Christmas Drive every year instead of regifting.I used to regift. When my kids were younger they enjoyed putting the gifts under the trees at the mall every year. For example : Since my grandmother is older what ever she gives me I keep just in case it maybe the last thing she gives me. When I buy gift cards I purposely do not write any names on the back of the card, in case the recipient wants to re-gift. My sister and I have a running gag where we have been giving each other the same birthday card for a few years now. It happened one-time over a necklace and you could cut the air with a knife. I was the one that messed up but my two aunt's was going to rearrange my house and everyone in it over this necklace. One year my in laws gifted something we gave them to my wifes aunt in front of us. If you get a gift and think that I would like it more, sure I will take it. I also regift the birthday gifts my daughter doesn't like to give to her friends. I would go broke buying a new gift every time. I hate it when regifters give obviously used things or something that obviously wouldn't work for me. Someone gave me a Christmas scented bath set where two of the bottles were obviously used and the box was cracked for my birthday. My birthday is in the summer. I have a feeling that it wasn't even from that past Christmas, either. I also received a salmon sampler gift box. I am deathly allergic to seafood. If I don’t feel like I can regift something then I donate it to a thrift store so that someone else can get use out of it (and so it doesn’t clutter up my home).
