I need a new phone, looking over old threads but don't remember anything exciting prob since I bought my first smart phone years ago.this installment payment thing sucks

It certainly does suck and my carrier (Verizon) charges more for a single line plan.  All carriers may do that though?  I don't really know.  Unfortunately for me though, Verizon has the best coverage for my area and my travel habits.  I'll be eligible for an upgrade during the holiday season but am going to have to think long and hard and probably visit a store for some assistance in deciding what, if anything, to do.

I am looking for a new tracfone, will be watching HSN and QVC.

For anyone tired of Verizon but liking their coverage if you get the right Tracfone it will use Verizon towers.

Most of their smartphones aren't the fanciest but they do the job.

Make sure you get one that triples your minutes DD14 has one and it's worked great

I'm looking for a free phone. Work changed it's Mobile Data policy and now I need to have a separate phone for my work email. Doesn't have to work great - literally just needs Outlook, a PDF viewer and Excel. Hoping if I wait for BF, something nice will be free when I add a line.

I'm thinking of going with the google pixel. Did anyone check google for discounts last year?

Verizon (the only carrier that carries the Pixels) had discounts on them last year, so you could expect the same this year.

Google offered 3 months of Google Play Music/YouTube Red with the purchase of one last year, no nothing great.

Hmmm...was hoping google would drop proceed with 2 having been released or for BF. Time will tell I suppose, this phone has been a real let down so don't want to go with Samsung again or Apple. Not really looking to switch carriers either. AT&T was the only thing that worked after Irma Edited by tinkrbel

I am confused with Target's wording for the free iPhone 8 with activation.  Is it really free, or is it just 0 down with the payment plan?   I don't understand why they say "free" if you have to do the device payment plan.

Free refers to the $250 gift card you will receive, not the phone itself.

You may want to check out Straight Talk or Total Wireless.  In our area they pull off Verizon towers but the plans are much less.  We use Total Wireless.  We pay 114.00 for 4 lines, which includes unlimited talk and text and 25 GB data.  For a single line you can choose the 25.00 plan which includes no data, or the 35.00 plan which includes 8 GB data (I think).

Most of the ads are offering gift cards with an iPhone 8 and activation.  How does this work?  We are currently AT&T customers with no contract and iPhone 5s devices.  Do I simply walk into Walmart, but two phones, activate and leave with my existing account plus amortized phone payments and a gift car?  Or do I have to switch from one carrier to the other to get the gift cards?
