Question, we have 7 tvs in the house with only the main one having a dvr box, I was thinking of gettin my kids boxes for their rooms so they have all the channels i pay for, Is there a dvr or cable box i could buy that would allow for that? Didint want to go through cable company as its $25 a month per box. Thxs for your help :)

depends on your cable company, mine we have a Whole House DVR systems, its the $25/month for the DVR, other boxes that would cost $8/month can view anything on the DVR just cant program the DVR like the main box can.

not sure if there is other options out there for you

I'm not sure about cheaper in the start but I have a TiVo 6 tuner and I have TiVo's mini boxes in the other rooms. There is up front cost but the mini's come with lifetime in the price and you can also do lifetime on the main DVR. I prefer this over the cable co DVR. If I switch cable companies (which I will be doing soon) then I don't have to lose my whole setup. I just swap out the cable card and I'm good to go.

So with a tivo you get the channels you pay for through your cable company and the minis allow the same channels to be seen on other tvs?

By any chance can you post a link from amazon so i can check out what your talkin about? Thxs

Here is the TiVo Mini that I have: http://www.amazon.co...4&keywords=tivo

Here is the main TiVo I have: http://www.amazon.co...9&keywords=tivo

I didn't pay that much for my Roamio Pro (TiVo has deals all the time)

Yes the main DVR uses a cable card (my cablce card is $4 a month) from the cable company to decode the streams. I get all the channels (though I don't subscribe to HBO or any of those). The TiVO Mini's are in a couple of our bedrooms and they use a tuner from the main box to watch live TV or they can watch anything thats recorded on the main box. Works well for our house I just switched to the Mini's not too long ago and can't say I will ever go back to another way.
