I tend to go for quality over price as I depend on my network and it's speed, I tend to prefer Amped Wireless stuff due to the signal strength and speed I get out of them. Have used it for friends and clients and had no bad feedback. Now you don't need their highest end one but even the others aren't really cheap. Right now, I have 3M service and a cradlepoint ctr35. Isp says d-link works well with their technology. Lead ones? - How many devices? - What is your current Internet bandwidth? - What is your level of general geekiness? Feel like flashing the firmware on a router? In my personal experience, Netgear and D-Link work fine until they don't, about a year or two into your ownership.Linksys (the old stuff anyway) will last beyond the technology they're based on. But I think Linksys may have changed hands at least once in the last few years, so I'm not sure where they are anymore. If all you need is G network capabilities, then the classic Linksys WRT54GL is my all time favorite and go-to router. Devices include a desktop, ipad, laptop, and a roku. Everything seems to work fine for the most part with my cradlepoint ctr35, however, my Roku struggles. It spends a lot of time "loading". If you have ANY other devices on the network at the same time, then your bandwidth is decimated. Roku's own site says 3M for streaming audio or SD (non-HD) material. They want 6M for HD material. And these speeds are just for the Roku, not the Roku sharing with the iPad that's playing Words with Friends and the laptop that's checking email, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Linksys is now owned by Belkin, and I wouldn't recommend a new one. I've had D-link, Linksys, Belkin and Netgear over the years. This one is the fastest and most stable one I've had. It replaced my D-link which I had to reboot once a month or so. I have a 3,000 foot home and no dead spots. I even get nice reception in my driveway, lol. Deal Grabber Posted November 24, 2014 Share Posted November 24, 2014 i will say based on my own experiences no matter what type of router you have its gonna lag if you internet speed isnt fast enough.Same thing happened to me last year.I tried so many diff routers as everytime i used my chromecast for movies it spent most of the time buffering.I finally upgraded to the fastest speed my service offers and i havent had a problem since.When everyone is home at night atleast a dozen wireless things goin at once and i dont ever have a problem. We never have issues. I'm on my tablet along and my wife is on hers while streaming Amazon on our TV. At the same time my son is on his phone (wireless in the home; Facebooking) while playing multi-player FPS games on his computer. We've got lots going on and it never slows down.
