Walmart Savings Catcher

Walmart has introduced this new App called Savings Catcher.  Has anyone used it yet?  It is suppose to do the savings on competitor's ads for you, and then give you store credit for the savings amount.

I have not seen any fine print yet that says not good on "Black Friday", as Walmart doesn't usually match on other store's doorbusters.

I've tried to use it and come across several receipts it refuses to accept. It appears only "certain" stores are accepted but there's no way of knowing which other than trial and error. Of the 4 receipts I tried only 2 went in and I got $0 but I expected that since I was price matching most of the stuff anyways. A coworker has $20+ on hers. I think its a useful tool for busy ppl who do their bulk shop at walmart since they expect it to be cheaper overall.

I have used it for about 4 weeks now and only gotten about $6 total, but hey, I will take it! I go to Wal-Mart 1x a week for grocery shopping so I just downloaded the app to my phone and scan my receipt while I am walking to the car, I get my results in about 3-4 days and just put it on a ecard and I have used it at check out just to see how easy it was---it was super easy, I pulled up the ecard on my phone and the cashier just punched in the number and viola' it took off the $2.xx credit.

We were in the test market and have been using it for several months.  We keep having trouble claiming the actual "savings."  For some reason, they will not email the amount.  Once we claim it, it goes to zero and we don't get the eGiftCard.  It doesn't show up in the spam folder or the inbox!  We claim at about $25 and this is our third time to claim.  Emails to their support helped when we were still the test market, but have become non-responsive since it was pushed out nation wide.  Hopefully, it will work better for you.

I think that we will re-sign up using a different email address next time we claim and get nothing.

We've been using it for over a month now and have cashed out twice for a total of about $18. We get it on an egift card and it's sent to my email within a few hours and I've had no problems using it immediately.  It's really easy money--I've noticed the last few weeks the scanner hasn't been working so I have to enter the barcode by hand. I'm not sure if that's due to an Iphone update though.

Its only for groceries but as far as BF im sure it will apply but wm always has special coded items on bf that wont match other stores so im sure it will be a hit and miss thing.

Only good on groceries and it misses a lot of deals that are cheaper elsewhere. I have $7 after using it since it came out. Free money, I will take it! Don't expect to get rich on it!

It is not just for groceries. I am up to about $15.00 and it is looking at 72 different ads from the high end stores down to dollar tree.

I think it does like Health and Beauty aids also, at least mine does, cause I got a deal on some toothpaste. I have cashed out about $12 dollars in total. I get the email to load in my e card and then I get that in about 10 mins. And if I tell it to do that , it keeps adding to the total before I use it. Used it tonight and saved $6.87 on my bill.

FYI those asking about the bluebird card, its  from american express and can be used anywhere american express is used.I chose that option as i already had a bluebird card and the savings catcher doubles ur money if u transfer the funds to it :)

I'm using the Bluebird also to double my money back. It has no fees and either way (Bluebird or egiftcard) the money has to be spent at Walmart so why not?

The other thing I like about the savings catcher that my wife showed me this weekend is that if you have to do a return, the e receipt is in your phone so you don't need to keep track of the paper receipt.  Just did a return using it yesterday

I've saved a whopping 21 cents so far...  don't get me wrong, I'll cash that in eventually... but not a huge motivational factor when I decide where to shop.

Does Savings Catcher compare all items on my receipt?
Savings Catcher applies to many items sold at Walmart stores. Savings Catcher compares identical items based on an item’s Universal Product Code (UPC) and typically does not compare items of different quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc. because those items do not have the same UPC. Eligible items include:

  • Groceries such as cereal and rice and most fruits and vegetables except for: private label / store brand items, deli, bakery and weighed meat items. In Puerto Rico, most fruit and vegetables will not be eligible.
  • Consumable items such as paper towels, bleach and trash bags.
  • Health and beauty items such as shampoo and makeup.

Savings Catcher does not currently apply to:
  • Private label / store brand items, deli, bakery and weighed meat items. In addition for Puerto Rico, most fruit and vegetables will not be eligible.
  • General merchandise items, (including, but not limited to, electronics, media and gaming, toys, housewares, small appliances, office supplies, apparel basics such as socks and undershirts, sporting goods, home décor, bedding, books and magazines, shoes, jewelry, furniture and seasonal products).
  • Non-branded items.
  • Tobacco, firearms, gasoline, tires, prescription drugs, optical and photo products and services, or products that require a service agreement such as wireless, automotive or financial products.

Several have mentioned using it for a certain amount of time and getting X amount back.

The length of time is irrelevant. The amount spent vs. what you get back is what we should be tracking.

In my own experience over the past month I've gotten back 1% of the total spent.

I haven't tried cashing in yet, and I've heard of people having problems doing so.... I guess we'll see.

I've got $6.87 saved up so far.  Funnily enough, I had to travel to Myrtle Beach to save the majority of that $6.87.  Not that that was a hardship though. :)

I don't expect to save huge amounts every time since I do buy a lot of store brand items but every little bit that I do save is nice.
