My husband wants a new motherboard and CPU--any deals on those? The MB he's currently looking at is $300 or so and I hate to spend that kind of cash

I would too *LOL* But I don't see any in the papers I have. Actaully everything but that. Sorry!

If you are not looking to replace everything, I would suggest a barebones kit. I just bought one for my dad for christmas from tigerdirect.com for $149 after rebates. It was easy to put together, stole some parts off of the old computer (all of the drives, monitor, keyboard, and mouse).

He wants to replace everything--I Don't LOL He wants a new MB, CPU, updated ram (his is apparently slow) I think the only thing he wants to keep out of his current desktop is his video card and that's only until the next greatest video card ever comes out this summer LOL

He has his eye on a $300 mb and a $300 CPU to put on it with new, different ram because that motherboard has different RAM speed than what he has now--GRRRRRR it's driving me NUTS!!

I got the ad today but don't see the 26" LCD tv. Was that in the ad or did you see it online?

It is in the ad. The have the regular ad then the front page is the 24-hour extreme sale. It is right on the front. Do you have that part?

I do have the extreme sale ad upfront. On mine though, I've got the 42" plasma tv for $999, no 26". I wonder if it's site specific. Been trying to call the stores but can't get through. :(

With the holiday they are probably closed :( But I dont have the 42" inch on my sale paper. I am on the east coast so maybe there are different sales for different areas.

Just looked at the regualr sale ad and they have the 42" plasma on the front but it is for 1899.99! It does come with a free home theater in a box and free bracket. This tv is a ultra slim model though so maybe that is why it is so much more.

Do you know the model #'s? Unless he's building a server the Motherboard won't be near $300, and if he's going to be running a server, the cpu chip would be around $800. lmk and I'll send you some links for the cheapest prices on the net.

He wants an Asus a8n something or other Deluxe. I've looked and it's $219 right now at CompUsa--maybe I'll get it for him and surprise him :D He likes AMD chips better than intel, so he needed an amd board

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe - Smart man, you can get it for about 170 online.

The cpu chip will be anywhere from 150 (1.8ghz)to $850 (Dual Core 2.4Ghz 1mb lvl2 cache) depending on the speed he wants. The most popular (and plenty fast) is the 3700+ 2.2Ghz for about $220. (I run any game on the market on the highest settings with no problem with that chip)

This will be for gaming? If not there's no reason he would "need" that motherboard. (probably shouldn't say that :0)

And remember that motherboard CAN take 2 video cards! (which I imagine is why he wants it, same reason I did :)) (if you are buying them for him they MUST be IDENTICAL cards.)

If you need any help pm me :)

Almost forgot, add about $40 for a really good fan, these things get HOT

He plays EQ2, FFXI and a few other online games and a couple of offline ones too (Is Black and White 2 on or off?) Anyway, yes, I heard all about the dual video cards too--after he promised me that the one he bought last year would actually last 2 years (It's the GForce 6800) but it's an AGP card so he can't just get another one of those and use them as the dual channel things, he has to get the PCI Express (I think that's what he said anyway, I was beginning to tune him out at that point LOL) because he likes this motherboard. more than he likes his video card--or quite possibly, there's a 7800 or 8800 or something coming out and he wants it instead LOL

The Clive, IA (Des Moines) store has 21 of the M2401XT laptops. I asked why they did not have on on display and the clerk said because he only had 21 and did not have enough for a display model...my response: is that because it is $200 off tomorrow...nothing but a stare with a look of how do you know that!

The $499 LCD TV may not be on your ad, but if you look it up online and then check in store inventory, it will likely work. I am in So Cal and it worked for me. Not that I need one though LOL, since I have a 54" widescreen projection TV already that DH cringed when I bought 2 years ago. I will spend plenty of $ on other things there though.

Thanks for this tip! Glad I checked in this morning. Was able to buy online at the sale price and pick up in store. They had to manually override the in-store price in their computer to match my printout LOL.. but we got it! :banana01:

How are you buying online? I can't find a way to purchase online for in-store pickup. My stores are showing that they have them in stock, but the closest one is over an hour away and they might not have it before I can get there. Any ideas? I am in VA.

Uh oh, looks like they've updated the site! This morning, I was able to put the item in my cart and check out as usual at the website, but opting for in-store pick-up. The site took my credit card info and gave me a confirmation number to use for pick up. My CompUSA won't hold limited items at other locations even if I offer to pay upfront for it at my location (I wanted the bluetooth headset but they were out already). So, I doubt they'll do holds for limited quantity items. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Note: now they say you're subject to in-store pricing, so unless your flier has it advertised at $499, it'll probably ring up at $699. :(

Bum, Thanks for the response though. I wonder target carries this online, I wonder if they price match I could pick up an ad and just take it to target. At one time I thought I read that they do price match, but I can't seem to find it now.

Doesn't sound like they do, but you might want to call your particular store to double check. Ck out this thread:
