The Annual Black Friday 2012 Crazy Shoppers/Stories/News Reports

It's that time of year when the stories from all across the nation start rolling in about how a shopper goes nuts with the pepper spray or a line stampede gets out of hand. Post your news reports or personal crazy stories about what happened at your local Black Friday here!

Already there's rumored reports here in the Phoenix valley about a Costco line stampede getting so out of hand that a dozen people were injured and the whole store, along with several others nearby, were immediately shut down :( This is the same city last year that gave you the pepper spray lady for an XBOX360 and the police brutally attacking another shopper for allegedly hiding a video game, as well as a few years back when we had a temp employee killed in a trampling.

Other rumored cross country reports, at least what I can recall on the local news, include one in Fayetteville, N.C. where someone fired gunshots outside and inside a mall where shoppers were in line. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

And the chaos has ensued:

The Battle of Black Friday: Mayhem as millions of shoppers punch, kick and even pull guns on each other in race to the best bargains

To sum the list on this report up:

  • Cashier in Dick's store in Alaska was carried out by paramedics after fainting while shoppers completely ignored her
  • At a San Antonio mall, a shopper allegedly pulled a gun on another man who had tried to cut to the front of the line at a Sears
  • In Woodland Mall in Kentwood, Michigan, two teenagers were arrested after a brawl broke out between 15 men outside a JC Penney at 1.30am. Witnesses said pepper spray was used.
  • At a Walmart in Altamonte Springs, Florida, a lady was arrested after being disruptive in the traffic line, and allegedly bullying the officer directing vehicles.
  • In Springfield, Massachusetts, a man was arrested after he allegedly left his girlfriend's two-year-old in his car so he could by a 51 inch television from Kmart.
Among other goodies...

Our local news just reported that the police haven't even charged the man for leaving the baby in the car! The Baby's mother was at work and the man is her boyfriend. The police had to break into the car to get the baby out! The baby was returned to the mother. I can't believe someone would do that..SMH.

I really really believe in karma.

I don't know if I believe in it, but I sure hope it exists people need to start thinking about the consequences of their actions/lack of actions.

In other news, I held it together and didn't beat anyone or get myself arrested last night at WM but the lack of organization or care really pissed me off AND I will not be there next year. That store really needs new management or a few years to get enough complaints together to do something about ineptitude.

Only one fight while I was in Walmart last night. I went to the larger one and by 7:45 people got antsy and someone started ripping plastic off and people just started grabbing things. Turns out there were only 6 trampolines and someone on line kept staring at the other people I guess trying to intimidate. Well he didn't fair very well. They started a really loud fight over them and the police got involved. This particular Walmart had 5 squad cars stationed from 6pm on.

No one was hurt but this was just on the Dallas news from the Victoria's Secret in Tulsa, OK. All this for a $60 sweatshirt on sale for $25. I wasn't even a part of this mob but I am officially done. If I can't get it online on BF, I can't get it.

My daughter and I went out today around 10:30, stopped at Local lumber store, Target, Home Depot, World Market, Piers 1 and Petsmart. I would say it looked more like Saturday shopping for us, no lines, things we were after still there except the garland at Home Depot, friend we know who works there said all gone by about 8 on that hot item LOL. I found all the stores pleasant both customers and store employees. The employees didn't seem frazzled and were very helpful. The only problem we had was some old lady who decide I was blocking her special parking space (I was trying to get into one on her side and she wanted one on my side, we both have larger vehicles LOL) and she was sending funny gestures to me, like I was in her way, so I just backed up and let her pull in. I expected a thank you gesture, didn't get it LOL A smile goes a long way.

"A group of mostly teenagers" didn't surprise me. SOOOO many teens at Victoria's Secret where I lived today. We had bouncers at ours haha... they were really good with lines. Early hours are to blame for the amount of people. These kids wouldn't come out if it was a 4 AM opening.

totally agree...we actually left several mall stores because there were just MOBS of kids and what stinks is they were just milling around. They were not shopping really. Just hanging out...it was H377!!!! We circled back around 4 and had a much better time of it. I am NOT in favor of these early times. Leave the kids and lookieloos in bed!

Apparently they put a movie theatre into our mall recently and there were kids loitering the parking lot 1.5 hours before store opening. I was really uncomfortable waiting last 10 minutes for Macy's to open. Genius manager decided to roll up shutters maybe 15 minutes before store opened so everyone not waiting with us quickly go out of cars/sidewalk area and pushed into us, it was semi quiet for a while then got louder and louder and then the kids started the crazy laughter (a cackle-sounded like something out of a horror movie just before the psycho goes on killing spree). 1 was enough but then people started answering 'the call" with more of the same including the foreigners directly behind me, I looked at mother and hoped for the best but fully expected someone with a gun/machete to go on a spree.

Expecting on BF now thats funny.lol

We are a small area so yes do expect a courtesy nod, especially from a generation that lives for civility. Just because its BF, doesn't excuse rudeness, may explain it but never an excuse, also it was the middle of the day, no crowds, no lines, no traffic problems so no excuse except being rude (or a personality flaw LOL)

Couldn't find a link to an article, but a Wal-Mart employee in Farmington, MO had a seizure in the middle of the 8 PM madness. While a couple shoppers stopped to help her and call 911, many just ignored her or stepped over her to get their deals. Sad. :-(

Hope they are ok. I have a friend who works at a Walmart close to there and he suffers seizures as well. I'd like to hear more about this if you can find a link or something.

That is really sad. Someone seizing isn't a pretty sight and would be hard to ignore. Blessings to those that stopped and helped. I stop at that store several times a year. It is a nice, clean and friendly one.

I actually liked the late night. Didn't think I would. There were teens but they were fine. Just sitting and watching. I won 2 $100 NY and Co. gift certificates as our mall doorbuster! Didn't buy a lot but I go just for the experience.

Worst line and crowd was our Victoria Secret store....rude and impatient. Thank god I have boys and I can't ever imagine being able to fit in anything from that store!

I looked all over and couldn't find anything in the paper. Haven't been in WM since Friday morning. The guy we checked out with said the girl was a friend of his. They had taken her away in the ambulance. He didn't know much but thought she was okay when they took her to the hospital. The people that shop at that store for BF are RIDICULOUS! There was one lady who parked her cart in front of the Better Home and Garden scented wax thingy majigs. Every time someone came over to wait by them, she gave them a song and dance about how she was planning on buying most of them for women in a shelter that had nothing. Who knows if it was actually true or not (I don't know why someone would think it's okay to lie about purchasing things for a shelter) but she managed to make just about everyone who was waiting over there leave out of guilt. I still managed to grab a few and passed them out to those who wanted them but couldn't get to the pallet. I also had a lady shove me as I was trying to get away from the pallet of mattress pads and then had the nerve to tell me that I was being rude to her because I wouldn't give her MY mattress pad. All I could do was stare at her and say, "....Really?" I took my mattress pad and hid out in the aisle with the pet food until the initial madness calmed down.

UNRELATED: Did anyone else find people waiting in line for stores to open without a clue what was on sale? Every store I stopped in at people were asking for my paper to see what was on sale. Honestly, you stand in a line at ungodly hours without a clue?!

Yes several times. People here in fl are nuts

Yes. I asked a young couple what were they doing in line if they didn't know what was on sale. Their response, "Our friends wanted to come shop. We just tagged along because everyone else came." It's people like this that annoys me on Black Friday. Many of the teenagers think it's "cool" to go wait in line so they can brag about it on twitter or facebook. They don't buy anything. They just go because it's convenient.

NOTHING exciting for us. As I said we would, we skipped the THursday sales went out at the same time we have every year since and still got everything we wanted. I am now resigned to the fact I will never again get a doorbuster as I refuse to Thursday shop.

I'll take a crowd of wanderers to a crowd of people after the same thing I am:) I thought everyone at Macy's must be after the rice cooker but still got the

I needed and my paper got passed around so I think it was all people with same "cool" mentality
