We've already had a few stories on the news of mail carriers being mugged etc for stuff :(

I just read about this last night at work, and I was so happy to hear about it! I wish I had hundreds or thousands of dollars to give too, but I was thinking I could at least go in and pay $50-$60 on someone's layaway needs for Christmas. I wonder if that would be too little to make a difference though...? I really want to help make someone's Christmas a little better, so no amount is too small right? ^_^

Every little bit helps, some people struggle to make ends meet and that 50$ saved from gifts could go to a nicer meal or maybe they will turn around and help someone they know in need. The next time I see a good sale at the grocery store I'll buy some extra and donate to a local meeting place for low income folk.

absolutely, that $50 might make the difference on if it can get picked up before or after the holidays...... if nothing else it will brighten someone's day for sure to know someone cared and thought of them, no one said you HAD to pay off lay a ways, i think the spirit here was not that she basically paid off a few law a ways but that she gave what she didn't have to to people she didn't know... that made a difference for all those who received and heard the story
