and for the extra $200 for the $1199 model you gain:

1.28GB RAM vs 768MB RAM

Microsoft Office Basic vs Microsoft Works

Office Basic sells for around $150, so it's probably not worth it as you are also only getting 512MB more of RAM. You're better off getting the $999 version, selling the MS Works on eBay and then buying Office and RAM elsewhere if you need it.

As a comparison, the middle $999 config would be around $1084 by going through the regular Dell.com site and using the current 35% off coupon, so you're saving around $85 with this deal - or getting around a 40% discount (and there was a 40% coupon a few days ago) so it's equivalent to those deals.

I think this is a pretty hot deal!

Dell values these (FREE Upgrades) at $1348 dollars (on the $1199 Model). So not everyone needs a Nylon Case and Office Basic but its not often that you can get a $2547 laptop for $1199 from Dell or more than 60% off the retail price.

Now if I only had the extra $1200 bucks to go with this one. . .

nope pockets are nearly empty!

:(
