Here is my recommended configuration: Keep the base system ($1327) 8-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery (65 WHr) [add $129] 2Yr Ltd Warranty, 2Yr At-Home Service, and 2Yr Technical Support [add $60] Total: $1516 - $750 = $766 That gives you an extra year of warranty, plus 2 batteries - the smaller one when you need the smaller size/weight and the larger one when you need extended usage time. 1.7GHz Pentium-M, 60GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive, 256MB RAM, WiFi and more. Still missing a little something for me to get excited enough to pull the trigger. Wasn't planning to buy a new computer until Nov anyway, so probably best. I substituted an 8-cell battery for the crappy battery that comes with the bare-bones system and substituted the Burner for the DVD/CD-RW. The price you then get is $770, after coupon. Put 4 identical (50.01) low-ball bids in on 4 separate laptop hard drive (60 GB Toshiba) auctions by the same seller and, as hoped for, one of them was a winner (if none of them win, I've wasted my time, if more than one of them win, I've got an extra (but cheap) hard-drive I don't really want.) Oddly (and sweetly) enough, all the others went for $53.50 or more. $50+ 9.50 shipping for a brand-new 60 GB laptop hard-drive seems pretty decent.
