Also, There's a newly released Soyo DYLT032A 32" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV for 949 after 100 mail in rebate at tiger direct. The spec's look good, good contrast ratio and 8ms response time, just no consumer reviews readily available. Something more economical could be the ViewSonic NextVision 17.1" Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HD-Ready TV for 449 at amazon. There's also a 100 MIR (available at datavisioncomputer dot c0m). so that would make it 370 after shipping. Does anyone know more about the Soyo company? They'll also rip Tigerdirect, so all in all, it's probably not a great combo. DaveSimmons Posted August 9, 2005 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Newegg had to step in for their customers after Soyo wasn't sending motherboard rebates. 32" 16:9 is a little small for a main TV, especially for watching 4:3 programming. 42" is more reasonable, or go crazy and buy yesterday's $1700 Samsung DLP 50". In my living room, we have a 25" TV (4:3), and it's perfect, if not a bit larger than necessary. This is a great deal on an LCD TV. I have been tempted, but I really don't need something like that. DaveSimmons Posted August 9, 2005 Share Posted August 9, 2005 I still have a 32" non-HD 4:3 which is a good size for 4:3 viewing but small for most of what I watch (widescreen DVD). I'm trying to decide whether to buy this year or wait, since I'll probably move next year and by then the blu-ray/hd-dvd copy protection might be settled. Brad Posted August 9, 2005 Share Posted August 9, 2005 I think if there is no rush a good idea might be to wait for the new LCDs and DLPs with the 1920x1080 (true 1080p) resolution. There are a few (expensive) models out now - I just posted a deal a few days ago for a cheaper LCD model - but the big brands (Sharp, Toshiba, JVC, Samsung, etc...) should all be bringing out new models in the next 6 months. 1920x1080 is the resolution for the proposed HD-DVD and Blu-Ray standards that are currently fighting things out. So if you are going to spend a good amount of money for an HDTV, you might want to do whatever you can to make sure it'll last as long as you need it to. The response time on this Olevia lcd tv is 12ms while the Soyo I mentioned earlier has 8MS. BOth can be had for the same price just about.
