Price Adjustments

I asked Customer Service via email and this is the response that I received... I will print it out to take with me, just in case.

Dear Audrey,

It sounds like you have some questions about our price adjustment and Low Price Promise policies. Items in the 2-Day sale ad follow normal guidelines.

We're able to make adjustments on sale merchandise if we advertise a lower price either the same week or the week following your Target purchase. Adjustments can be made with your original receipt. As a reminder, this service isn't available on clearance merchandise.

Advertised prices from any qualifying competitor with a store in your area will be matched. However, we aren't able to match items from membership clubs (like Costco or Sam's Club), discounts that are designated specifically for Loyalty or Club card holders, retailers going out of business, or online retailers.

In order for us to match the price, you'll need to bring in the local competitor’s entire current ad and the price must be valid on the date of your purchase. Additionally, this is for single item purchases and can't be used for buy one get one type offers. We will match prices of identical items but are not able to match percentage off.

Expect More. Pay Less.® Target is committed to providing you with the latest merchandise at the lowest possible price. Be sure to check out the Circular online to stay up-to-date with what's on sale. You can view it by clicking WeeklyAd at www.target.com.

Thanks for shopping with us. We'll see you again soon at Target.

you just have to go during that time. Now I wonder what if I use the coupon book and want a Price adju. on friday can I still do that?

I would think it would depend if the coupon (assuming the toy book ones) attaches to the item. Alot of times the coupon shows right underneath the item you purchased with the return value price on it.

they don't do doorbusters.

Actually, the ad scan shows the word "doorbusters" all over the place...may not be a certain time, but that's what they're calling them...I'm hoping that that doesn't mean that the items I'm hoping to price adjust later on, won't be out on the floor until BF, but I'm afraid that's exactly what it means...

They seem to make up the rules as they go and it really depends on who you talk to. I personally have crossed Target off my future shopping list forever. Their lack of customer service and antiquated ways, along with their failure to fully provide their policies at the service desk has done it for me finally. Not to mention the snotty response from management as well as corporate. They pick and chose who to make happy and provide service to. I am done with them and on to other more customer friendly retailers.

I was able to price adjust at both Kmart and Target last year. Just had to be there during the sale hours. I e-mailed Target for a copy of their price adjustment policy and printed it out just in case I had any issues, but didn't need to pull it out. I got an adjustment no questions asked on Saturday. I also had no problems at Kmart getting a price adjustment on several things during their Thanksgiving day sale.

I've done it at Target for at least the last 3 years now. It is so easy to go in on Saturday after it's mostly died down.

Now the free $10 giftcard is making me rethink doing this...is the free $10 worth fighting the crowds...which is probably Target's goal anyways :tongue1:

I am wondering... if I were to go and buy a few of the video games that are in the BF ad a few days before, and use the $10 off of 2 games coupon from the toy book, and then have them price adjusted on Black Friday, will they let me since I used a coupon?

i'm not sure what the expiration date on coupons is but wouldn't it be safer just to purchase regular price and then get the price adjusted w/coupons on second visit?

I emailed to ask about Price adjustments. I think corporate is doing a little backtracking!

The Target® 2-Day Sale starts at 5 a.m. on Friday, November 27. We know you'll find great gift buys for everyone on your shopping list!

Each year, we encounter tremendous excitement surrounding the deals we make available to our guests on the busiest shopping day of the year. And each year, we hear reports that our Black Friday ads have been prematurely leaked to the public.

While we appreciate the excitement surrounding Black Friday and are committed to helping our guests make the most of their dollar this holiday season, we're unable to confirm the accuracy of any 2-Day Sale ads or pricing information posted online until our official 2-Day Sale circular is publicly released. That's why we’re unable to discuss price adjustments or price matching other retailer’s Black Friday ads.

We encourage guests to visit www.target.com/weeklyad on Wednesday, November 25, to view all of the great deals and incredible savings featured in our official 2-Day Sale circular. On Black Friday, we’ll hand out store-specific maps highlighting special items and hang signs directing you to hot-ticket items located throughout the store.

Thanks for shopping with us. We'll see you at the Target 2-Day Sale!

I don't think they're back tracking, I think they are just dodging your question. You have to specifically ask them about price adjusting. Maybe even give them an example. They gave me this kind of reply a few years back and I just had to reword my question so they had to answer it properly.

I gave them a specific situation where I bought an item next week and then discovered it in their ad. Same canned answer. I think they are going to either do it, just not publicize it, or they are going to change the policy and they just haven't decided to what degree yet.

Sounds like it to me, too. Although it seems AudreyNicole (above a few post) got last years answer...and as long as she keeps that paper, it should be good. . especially if there is a November date on the email.

I mean if they change the policies just day(s) before BF then they should have stated it in her email...so if no one else is in the clear at least Audrey is ;)

I had that response last year, printed it, never needed it. I just used it for video games, dvd sets and like some sweaters...

* I don't like how they have the dvd's advertised, they show a few and say 55 more titles, etc. That doesn't help me to know what is on sale.

I just asked the price adjustment question at my Target and was told that the standard price adjustment policy applies on BF. I specifically asked how long I had after my purchase to price adjust, and was told 14 days. That would be consistent with the email above that states that you can PA if it goes on sale the week of or the week following the purchase. I always thought it was 7 days.

However, I was also told that because the ad had been leaked (I acted surprised), the manager was told to pull the popular BF items off the floor soon so people couldn't do what we all want to do.

Even after receiving the email above just last week, I asked again today at my store. The same 14 day policy applies for price adjusting, but the manager said they aren't sure what they are doing as far as price matching other stores. She sounded very certain that if I were to buy something within the 14 day time period, it would be adjusted on BF with no issues.
