This deal is probably a little hotter than the Inspiron one, mostly because of the free LCD and optical drive upgrades, plus it's not limited to any particular model.

Am considering this option to pick up another 2001FP.
Can currently configure the following: Dell Dimension 4700c Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 520 w/HT Technology (2.80GHz, 800FSB) RM288H [221-6616] 1for $1533. $1533 - $750 = $783 - eBay 4700C (~ $350+) = $433 or less Any thoughts? Am I missing something? |

On the 8400, $499 for the 2001FP and $449 for the 2005FPW. |

Those are high prices considering you can buy those by themselves (well at least the 2005FPW) for close to those amounts.
What about keeping the "free" LCD and adding a second 20" model?

Looks like Dell is screwing people who want to get anything better than whatever LCD comes standard with that particular PC. The upgrades are only a little bit less than what you could buy one new for, and to get a second one as Ross said is a freezing cold deal, even with the $750 coupon.
Someone out there has to have put together a worthy configuation for this deal by now... I'll see if I can come up with anything.

Well now that I look at it, Dell doesn't even have the free LCD or optical drive upgrades on the site yet, which is why things look so bad. So just wait until tomorrow morning, and the prices to upgrade to the bigger monitors should drop and things should look a lot hotter.
![]() There might be a good opportunity for anyone looking at the monster 2405FPW to get that paired with a barebones 8400 system.

Im looking but not seeing much. You can put together a pretty insane tower for $1500 but resale value is crap

I can live with $430 for the 2001FP as outlined above, if not - the chiefest reasons being that the 2001FP deals are growing more and more scarce (in favor of 2005FPW deals) and those deals that do surface are for Small Business (which involves tax in New York). |

At this point, I believe it's speculation and probability. |

I'd think the free LCD upgrades will hopefully drop the upgrade prices for the 2001FP to under $400 if we're lucky.

Arg, this is tough when there are too many unkowns. Ill probably go with a loaded 4700 with media center and hopefully a FREE 19" analog. Ill attach the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 Speaker System to bring up the price to point of coupon.
Off load the system & LCD for the cost of everything and hopefully walk away with some free/very cheap Klipsch speakers. This could all change depending on if they drop the price to upgrade to a 20.1" Last edited by Mike; 4-20-2005 at 8:12 PM. |

I still have a Dell PowerEdge 400SC sitting new in box, so I doubt I'll be jumping in on this deal

Get to the implementation; else by the time you do, Dell will have Ax-ioms as powerful, with all the same features. |

Looks to me like they made the LCD situation even worse. Now they want $100 more to upgrade to the 20" models compared to yesterday (at least on the 4700 system), and many Dimension models don't even allow you to get a second LCD. They also took away the 2405FPW option for the 8400.
Seems to me like they want to sell cheap desktops, not cheap LCD monitors.
