Ask what happens to the unsold newspapers. The newspaper normally collects just the newspaper part and the inserts(and coupons) are thrown out.

If the store throws out the inserts ask if you can have them. That's what I did and now I collect all the inserts on Monday mornings for FREE. I get extra coupons and extra Michael's 40% off coupons besides!!!

Also recycling centers will give you the papers if you want them. OR if you have the time, just take the coupon inserts. My area has a football bonanza contest with coupons for area high schools in each of the Friday papers during football season. The High School with the most coupon collected from The Repository paper receiveds $10,000 for their school.. My son is only in 4th grade, but we collect for his high school. The middle schools have contests w/ pizza and ice cream parties for the classroom that turns in the most. Our High School has placed 2nd for the last 4 yrs. I believe 2nd place gets $6000. Anyway, we have a recycling center down the road and when the contest is on, they let me take ANY Friday paper I want. Needless to say my son has never lost this contest (his classroom). I figure he will be going there later in life, so I will support it now!

that is illegal. I hope they get caught. Its people who do things like that that give couponers a bad name. Its people like that that cause hassles for those of us who want to use LEGIT coupons.
