Reading the BF Ad Matching got me thinking

A few days before Black Friday, do you visit the store and hide the merchandise like in a washer/dryer? Then when Black Friday arrives you casually stroll by and pick up your hidden merchandise? Of course hiding a hard drive in an oven is easier than hiding a 42" Plasma HDTV set

Do you have any other secrets you're willing to share with us?

Nothing that hasn't been around for awhile. Buying stuff beforehand and PMing the day of. I don't think I have hidden anything before...that would be a first for me. I usually go in a group and multiple stores and have someone hoard something until more people show up to buy if there is a limit per customer on something. Except for "voucher" items, I usually get whatever I want at CC the day of.

Last year, I found our Shoprite had their black friday prices in the computer on Thanksgiving. So I just strolled in, got the DVD/VCR on sale and left - leaving one less stop for the next day!

Obviously some of you have received special black ops CIA training, I was not expecting this obstacle.

Chris went into Sears a day or two before BF to map out where everything was going to be at and the sales people there told him he could buy the stuff he wanted and then just bring the recipts back on BF during when the sales were going on and just take them to the curtosey desk and he would get the money refunded.

The only other trick we have is that Chris just about always takes the Jeep wrangler on BF.....he has been able to basically park front row because a normal car wouldn't be able to get in the places a motorbike or wrangler could get into. Who needs to have room to open the doors when you can take off the top and climb down that way (or even have the doors completely off!)

I was hoping for some secrets I could use. Anyone?
I have never considered hiding things in the store although I have wondered if employees do it for family and/or friends. I don't have and BF secrets, that pertain to the shopping anyway. When it is so cold and I am freezing and it is dark I can't stop thinking about my super soft, warm, cushy, bed and how much I would love to back in it.

One trick that I used one year at Kmart was put the items on layaway (usually requires just alittle down), than the day of the sale, I just go to layaway pull it out and pay for it at the reduced price. It works for items that are already in. Doesn't work like at Walmart on the items that they bring in by the pallet. Jill

I have one trick for Sears (at least it worked for me last year) if you are interested in a large item (think 27 in TV). Take the sale paper with you. As soon as they open the doors go straight to a register, show the the ad and they will ring you up using the sku in the ad. You can then go and pick the item up from the mercandise pick-up. This may work at other stores that have merchandise pickup like Circuit City..YMMV.

I have to say I LOVE the idea of hiding things a few days before! But my luck I would forget where I hid it!!

I really don't have any secrets but enjoying reading the thread and getting good ideas!

    As for hiding things....hmm... oppsie.
I did last year...thinking it was the 5.50 DVD that were gonna be 3.88
SO knowing the dresser set they make, I went back to the display model, and because I have this dresser, I looked underneath and sure enough the same shelf mine had, it had. So VOILA!
Got in line the next day... the joke was on me.... There was an entirely different palet for the dvds....mine were 5.50
BUT what was cool was the people stuck in front of the DVD's were handing them back to the people behind us. (I know...I was the one stuck!)

My secret? HOT CHOCOLATE in a HUGE thermos...and heated socks.... Now I have to kill u... JK!

Hello all, my "tip" from last year was to organize what I wanted from each store and to figure out if Walmart carried it. If they did, I was able to get a price match. That saved me SO much time and money being able to do that!

the other secret? based on what I am getting...Screw the cart. IF you dont need it, dont take it. For the newbies, wait till you SEE what people do with carts... ugh

I do the same thing. I get most of my Toys R Us and Target stuff at Walmart. I also don't take a cart unless I absolutley have to. It just slows you down. You can always go grab one later.

And as far a hiding things. UMMMMM Well I have been known to. If I am going to PM something and there are not that many at Walmart I will stash one just incase someone else is going to PM also.

    Hi:

I was here last yeat, but didn't post. This will be my seventh BF. My best tips? Get there early, 3:30 am is not too early. Bring a friend, coffee, a small chair, (You will have to ditch it about 45 minutes before the store opens, that's why you need a friend to hold your place in line.), and all your sales circulars. If you live in a cold climate, dress warmly and bring a hat, gloves, scarf and ear warmers with you. A light blanket will not hurt either.

And the ulitimate tip, I learned last year from my best friend, use the blanket, chair, coffee and circulars to make friends with the people in front and directly behind you in line and they will glady use them and hold your place in line, while you wait in the car, nice and warm! LOL

We hit Wal*Mart, Kohl's, and Staples last year since they are right next to each other, then drove to a small mall that isn't usually very busy.
We didn't get there until almost 11am, but they STILL had all the doorbuster sales that the LARGE mall ran out of within half an hour!

I believe we'll be going back this year.

A word of warning on where you hide your stash.. I worked at K-mart & Big Lots in different years on BF. I was told to go around and LOOK for stuff people had hidden in other places. I usually found quite a few items stashed away that people had tried to hide. I've been in Walmart late at night when there were dozens of carts up by the service desk loaded with stuff for the departments to put back where they belonged. Hide items away but don't be surprised if they aren't there when you go look for them.

My tip would be electronics go FAST so if your trying to decide whether to get into a best buy or a walmart line for your first stop I would go with the best buy and I have been doing the best buy thing for the last three years and every year it seems you need to be there earlier you really need to show up at the best buy in my town around 4 if you want to get anything.

This post brings up a good point-- if you have newly opened locations of stores, or ones that are more out of the way or in less popular or populated areas, hit them!!

They will be less crowded (usually) and you'll have a nicer time.

For those of you that PM at Walmart, I will share what I was told today. I was told they are NO LONGER doing PM. I went to have some candles PM from Eckerds, and they refused!
