View Full Version : ~*~ I Have A Contest or Sweepstakes QUESTION Thread
arijana 5-26-2008, 7:28 PM The problem with putting eft and nw on each of the threads and bumping them is if I am on page 3 of entering contests, someone is on page 5 of entered and typing eft and someone else is on page two putting eft then by the time I get through entering contests there are 3 pages of mixed contests that have been bumped to the front that I have to try and go through and not know which ones I've already entered. If no one bumps the thread unless its by putting anything then you just go to the page where you left off. And some of the ppl that are putting eft are skipping around so that causes even more issues. The mods are trying to prevent that for the majority.
I usually type entered for 1X Contests and then once for each contest posted so I know I have registered and are eligible to play that one. After that I leave the thread alone and just enter it unless I win something.
This is an excellent explanation.
And also, I don't see a reason why someone would bump the thread up front just to bump it on the first page (I don't mean by this posting "eft", or "no win", but "BUMP"). If someone wants to enter the contest that is on the 10th page, it takes only one click and to be on that page and enter it, so no need to be on the first one. And one more thing, mod is doing an excellent job with the threads that are about to end in few days and marking them "ending", but there is no need that, for example 3 of us do the same thing with the very same thread and then we have 3 and even more those "ending" posts or replies that are automatically bumping that thread again and again. Just recently there was a contest with the total of 6 replies and 3 of them were those "ending" ones, all 3 made within 10 minutes!!!
If everyone would mark the contests with one "entered" or what ever and that way register himself/herself to that thread making that little dot on the left, there wouldn't be a problem for the people who don't have enough time to sit and enter everything they usually enter. They could stop, for example on page 5 and be back in few hours and continue easily, maybe their first contest to enter would be moved few lines down because of new sweepstakes being posted, but that would be it.
So, all in all, I completely understand the reason why the thread about bumping posts was made and it wasn't meant for those few people who reply to the threads just so they would know that they entered it for that day, but with those who reply to threads every time they enter the contest from that thread or bumping them on the first page with "bump" for no reason.
I will abide by the rules.. but felt the need to express myself, as a member of the community.
If I am in the minority, or I have no say, I will simply follow the rules.

moonryder125 6-1-2008, 5:02 AM Hi everyone,
What is the biggest prize that a Gotta Deal member has won?
Thanks and good luck with your contests
happysunshine28 6-1-2008, 5:44 AM Hi everyone,
What is the biggest prize that a Gotta Deal member has won?
Thanks and good luck with your contests
Biggest - I won was a trip to jamaica, but I goofed around and didnt get the affy into them by the deadline, so technically I didnt win.
Biggest I got- I won 2 round trip tickets and they sent me 4 codes so I won 4 round trip tickets. Plus I won a laptop
Venusaur 6-1-2008, 11:07 AM How can you tell if you already entered a contest?
rachealb 6-3-2008, 5:09 PM I don't know if this helps anyone or not, but I add each contest that I enter daily to my "favorites" list on my IE and just start at the top or bottom of the list each day to enter. When the contest is over, I just delete it from the list (this kind of keeps the list in order of oldest to to most recent too)
steph3306 6-3-2008, 5:19 PM How can you tell if you already entered a contest?
When you enter a contest write thanks in the reply box and then it will put a little dot next to that thread that way you can just look for your dots and not have to go through every contest every time. HTH
I filled out my affadavit for eprize but it doesn't say I need to send a copy of my dl or anything with it. Has anyone had to fill out an affadavit for eprize before? Also is it okay to put delivery confirmation on the affadavit and is it ok to send it USPS? I sent them an email but haven't gotten a response and I want to have plenty of time for it to get there since they say they have to receive the affadavit within 10 days of the time I won (yesterday)
Venusaur 6-3-2008, 6:25 PM Thanks. 1 more question. Most of the contests say they'll send you newsletters when you sign up for their contests. Is there anyway to not receive those newsletters? Or do I have to let my inbox get clogged up with junk?

usually they have a box to mark no or yes. If there isn't a no or yes just uncheck the box. Be sure to check you junk mail box for winning notifications. I won a nintendo ds and it was sent to my junk mail. HTH:)

Dont you have to get it notarized? When you get it notarized you show them you license to verify who you are. I always send my affy's usps unless they supply something with paid postage thru another carrier. Sending it with DC wouldnt be a bad thing but you will have to send it other than regular first class

Thanks for the help. I just remember when I got my trip to New York I had to send a copy of my license but that might have been for the airplane ticket or something. I work with two notaries so I didn't have to show them my license......I'll go ahead and send it Priority Mail tomorrow with DC so it won't take as long to get there.
Is it just me, or are contests moving to the ended section a lot earlier - please don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the work the mods put in to this management of threads... but I saw a bunch of 6/15 games had been moved, today is the 9th... it is too early in the morning to mess with my mind telling me I missed a week somewhere...

I had some extra time last night and moved them, I didnt think it would cause a problem since they still stayed in the active sweeps until the redirect expires. Some nights I am not up at 12 est to move them and I try to stay on top of keeping the expired sweeps gone, and when I am up and have time I try to do a few days worth to stay ahead, well really far ahead this time.
ChrisB66 6-13-2008, 7:09 AM I have a question about those magazine sweepstakes for 250,000... there sure were a lot of them and they all had the same format. Are they real? or have they been found to be a scam?
Also I'm new to this site and not sure how to go about things but I found a sweepstake thats pretty dang cool for PC Gamers... I'm not sure how to proceed from here, can someone help me?
I don't imagine they are a scam as they are listed in the print versions of the magazines.
we tend to try to weed out the scummy ones, and you always should exercise caution if you don't feel something is right: I will not enter anything - sweeps or free - that requires my SS#. I will not enter anything that looks like I will get calls from a timeshare place :)
to post a new contest, first search to make sure it is not already posted. then you can add a new thread and enter the info. The title should be descriptive and include the ending date. You may not be able to enter http addresses yet... type it in, and one of us will fix it for you.
shellysthang26 6-22-2008, 2:16 PM When a contest says that you entries must be entered manually and not using script or macro automayed entering devices or your entry will be voided, are they talking about things like google autofill and roboform? I am wondering because I am having a hard time winning anything

Its hard to say, typically I would say that google and roboform shouldnt have anything to do with it, most the time they are refering to programs that enter you without you even going to the site, that is why you see most entries having a security code that has to be entered.
I would hate to say no using those wont keep you from winning, all I can offer is people do win using a form filler.
Dont give up winning is just a matter of luck, it comes and goes.
inbruges 6-22-2008, 3:17 PM I always use Roboform to play, and I have won several thngs including a 200$ gift card from Northwest Airlines Travel, a pair of shoes from the current Piperlime IWG and just yesterday an IPOD from the EAS IWG. That last one I also used the UPC code that was provided for people that don't have one rather than one from a EAS product that was purchased.
ebaymom 6-23-2008, 9:22 PM Please help! My dd won an Ipod Saturday night from the Wonka Oomposter iwg and it took her to a screen to put in my name and email address so I could send in her info. I never received the email. The only info that the game asked her for was her age and a screen name so they need her info so they could send her the prize. She was so excited when she won and now I do not know what I need to do to get in touch with the Wonka company. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.

They might wait until the game is over on 8/31/08 to send out the emails, from the looks of the rules they will email you a affy and you will have to print it and get it notorized and send it back to them.
ebaymom 6-24-2008, 9:30 AM Thanks so much!!
shellysthang26 6-26-2008, 8:54 PM To all the winners out there.....I have another question.
Do you subscribe to all the emails from these sites? My email is getting filled with junk emails from all these sites. I just thought checking yes to receive their emails would help me win but it has not helped yet lol.
Please let me know if you subscribe to the emails or not and if you still win
checking yes does not help you win.
The junk mails often let you know about new contests. Most of us have a email address we use JUST for swps and such
mahalia52 7-4-2008, 2:13 PM I have a question---on average how much time does everyone spend each day entering sweepstakes???
I have read through and I see several hours daily...I don't think I have that much time.I would really like to win a trip or a car(but I guess doesn't everybody)....
inbruges 7-4-2008, 5:52 PM I spend about an hour a day entering 250 contests, I use roboform and put them in favorites in a particular system, so that I can open and load 30 webpages at the same time. When I have extra time and I am bored, I enter another 100 or so that are either harder to fill in or have small prizes. I have been playing since nov 07 and won 3 bigger prizes i.e. an ipod, a 200 $ travel gift card and a pair of shoes from piperlime. I probably play 6 days out of 7 on average. Like you I am waiting to win that car or vacation.
happysunshine28 7-4-2008, 11:40 PM I have a question---on average how much time does everyone spend each day entering sweepstakes???
I have read through and I see several hours daily...I don't think I have that much time.I would really like to win a trip or a car(but I guess doesn't everybody)....
I spend several hours everyday entering sweeps.
Since you dont have alot of time to enter all of them, I would choose the ones I really wanted to win and do them everyday. Keep in mind vacations and cars are hard to win, like you said everybody wants to win, so everybody enters them.
I usually spend a couple of hours every evening on contests when I get home from work. If I do not have much time, I usually play just the instant win games b/c the odds of winning are more likely. I do not usually enter contests for that are for a long period of time and have only one prize of like $250,000.
mahalia52 7-5-2008, 1:17 AM thanks everyone for the suggestions!!!

Nope..
steph3306 7-17-2008, 11:29 AM I downloaded the roboform. Now everytime I use it it says my free trial is over. Do you guys get this for free or do you buy it? Just wondering.

I got it for free. I've only been using it for about 3 weeks now, but never had that problem...
cashandra 7-17-2008, 11:40 AM I have a question :) I won a digital camera from the Party Like a Pro IWG about 2 months ago. Right away, they sent me an afadavit that I had to fill out and have notorized, and sent it back and right on the paper they sent me they said that it would be to me in approx 14 days after they received my paperwork back. It's been a month now, should I just give up waiting, or am I just being impatient?
inbruges 7-17-2008, 12:01 PM I actually bought it. I had been using the free version for years and years, the one that had the 25 free passwords (the newer free ones only have 10 I think). Two years ago, I bought the full version and I have bought two more on the same account, you get those cheaper. So now me and my boyfriend's laptop have it and our desktop. It has frequent updates and it's a one off fee per license. We transferred them to new or reinstalled computers several times and it takes about 1 minute. I am one of those people that never pays for any software, ever. I use open office and AVG for instance. This is the only one I spent money on but it's money well spent imo. In fairness I have to say I never tried the google autofill, I did use IE autofill a long time ago but found it pretty useless since you could never access the info etc.

Thanks, It keeps saying I have went past my 10 passcodes. I will have to look into it.

I couldn't pull up the contest but sometimes they don't send out prizes for 1 to 2 months after the ending date of the contest. I wouldn't give up hope yet. If it isn't here in the next couple a weeks it wouldn't hurt to email and ask them nicely when you will receive your prize.

I won the digital camera/printer set too....I recieved mine in the beginning of June. It took right around a month, I think I sent my stuff back into them in the beginning of May. I think you should def. try to contact them, it can't hurt!! Goodluck:)

Contact them, I won that a while back I got it a few days after I sent in affy.

Mine did that, if you get rid of the passcodes (except 10) then it will stop doing that. Free version only allows 10.

Hi folks! Brand new to posting although I have been around for a while. Never had much to tell, win wise, sigh...but have recently won the Sprite Bring Home the Green promotion! Thanks to arress for posting! My question is, has anyone tried to use this card for mundane purchases like gas or grocery or the like? Or is it something that can only be used on the Coke website? Like I say, I'm a newbee but grateful for any thoughts. I have yet to recieve the card in the mail but have registered it on the website. Thanks again and good luck to all!

Before you can use the card you have to register it online but you also have to call the number to activate it. If you have not received the card yet you can activate it by going to the online account and there should be a number on the bottom right to call. If you call it then your card will be activated and when you receive the actual card in the mail you don't have to worry about activating it.
Anyone know a direct number to Eprize where I can actually talk to a person who will help me? I won the Laptop from Lenovo in June and was supposed to get it in 8-10 weeks which was last Thursday. I emailed them last Thursday and never received a response and called this morning and the message said they will reply by email in three days....UGH!
I can get you a number, but I have found them to be less than helpful. I have it in my work bag - I will post it later tonight.

ebaymom 8-19-2008, 8:16 PM I have a question about a affidavit of eligibility. I received an email that I had won the Project Runway instant skincare kit. The prize is worth 29.95 and they sent me a affidavit that I have to get notarized and they are also asking for my ss number. I have won a Wii and an ipod touch and they never asked me for anything like that. The only thing that I am really worried about is giving my social. Is this a normal procedure for a prize that is only valued at 29.95? Thanks so much in advance for any help I get!

Different companies do things differently. If is not uncommon to have to do an affy for a prize with a smaller value.

I convinced my husband to let me buy one... does that count?
moonryder125 8-29-2008, 3:46 PM LOl, I was just wondering there are so many contests for vehicles, I was curious if anyone had actually won one.

susie234 9-5-2008, 3:47 PM I won a prize at Projector Lamp Center. Does anyone know if this sweepstakes is legitmate? I hope I won't be disappointed and not get what I won. Many thanks. If this isn't the right place for this question, please delete it or feel free to move it. Many thanks.
Moved to Contests & Sweepstakes. You may get a better response here.
happysunshine28 9-5-2008, 4:03 PM I am not familiar with a Projector Lamp center contest off hand. First let me ask you, did you enter it?
I ask that because if you didnt enter you cant win.
Do you have a link to any rules for the contest and I will check it out for you and give you my opinion.
susie234 9-5-2008, 5:02 PM Yes, I had entered it, but the sweeps ended in August, so they don't show it now. Many thx, happysunsine. Guess I'll just wait and see.
Scott, many thx for moving it for me.
happysunshine28 9-5-2008, 5:53 PM I did some searching could find any rules but seen contest was for an ipod touch (correct me if wrong) the Projector Lamp Center website looks legit to me.
Congrats on your win!!!!
susie234 9-5-2008, 6:04 PM Gee, thanks a lot happy sunshine. Sure hope so. I questioned it because I found some negative feedback on their regular business transactions. Yes, that is it. First decent win I received notice of, so wanted to make sure about it. Much appreciation.

Lately I have tried wee moring hours, mid morning, late at night, evening and late afternoon, pretty much all times. Nothing has been real fruitful for me.

steph3306 9-10-2008, 1:31 PM Once you win an instant prize and there is a limit of one prize do you keep entering the same contest to get more entry's for the grand prize?
happysunshine28 9-10-2008, 6:15 PM Once you win an instant prize and there is a limit of one prize do you keep entering the same contest to get more entry's for the grand prize?
Nope I am done, I might need to rethink that. If you do keep entering make sure rules dont say one prize per person, if it says one iw prize per person then you should be ok trying to win sweepstake prize.

My opinion is that it says one iwp per person so grand prize should still be winable if you won an iwp.
But sometimes you only get one entry to win Grand prize, so always check rules to see if you get an entry everyday or just one time. Rules dont always clearly say that though. Most the time if you dont win they will tell you sorry you lose but got an entry into Grand prize or something like that.
amberleigh2 9-10-2008, 7:52 PM Anyone know a direct number to Eprize where I can actually talk to a person who will help me? I won the Laptop from Lenovo in June and was supposed to get it in 8-10 weeks which was last Thursday. I emailed them last Thursday and never received a response and called this morning and the message said they will reply by email in three days....UGH!
I also won from them, not the big prize though:tongue1:, & I still have'nt received it yet either!! I won the polo shirt, so I'm not as concerned but would still like to receive it!!:(
sbowmann 9-13-2008, 3:33 PM Does anyone if McDonalds is going to do the Monopoly game again this year? I could only find a thread about the 2007 game. Thanks.

Is anyone elses undeliverable mail the same?

smangham 10-29-2008, 10:03 AM Question to Winners : I received this email notifying me of a recent win. Attached was the "Affidavit of Eligibility" that I have to fill out, notarize and fax to them. One of the things it asks for is my ss#. Is this standard? The prize is listed as worth $29.95. I tried looking up the sweeps, but can't find it....but I enter so many, it is impossible for me to remember entering. Advice?

That is very standard, although usually affy is sent for a prize with higher value, but not necessarily. Don't worry about this one, I won and faxed my affy and received the prize very quickly.

trendy00betty 12-29-2008, 6:22 PM Hi, Has anyone ever won an instant win? I just started participating in this site and sweeps this week and I am wondering how they program their instant wins, and if they are real/pre determined/etc. I have played matching games, spin wheels, and jackpot instant win games so far.
Also, thanks everyone for posting things on this site!!
happysunshine28 12-29-2008, 8:10 PM Yes, there are winners on instant wins, instant wins times are usually predetermined and the next play after the time wins.
Welcome and good luck

jenesparza 12-29-2008, 8:52 PM this is probably a weird question... but for anyone who has won something kinda big...$500+, a trip, or just something pretty large... Has anyone ever wrote them a thank you letter? I am asking to see if its pretty normal.. I have won a few big things in the last months and plan on writing them thank you letters... i just alway feel so cheesy :cheesy: writing them...don't ever know how to write it out without sounding draw out.lol

The only thing I have done was email them saying I received (whatever it was) and thanked them that way. Only did that for the ones that someone contacted me wanting my address so they could send it, not for the auto emails.

The biggest thing I won was the $250 JcPenney gift card so I can't help you there but I DID email them back and thank them whole heartedly for the gift card. It sure helped a lot. Especially since they rushed it to me via Fed Ex and I got it within 3-4 days and before Christmas so I was able to use it for gifts. That was SO sweet.

Yes its from the Nabisco game..I got it yesterday and almost threw it away as it looked like junk mail.
Its my first AMEX card win! Congrats on your win..
I have a question on the Hearst Magazine sweepstakes, Redbook, GH, Harper's Bazaar, Country Living, etc.....are we only allowed one entry a day from only one magazine website or can we enter all of them every day? I hope I didn't disqualify myself with the Dare to Dream sweeps by entering all of them :(......I am now questioning this because all the new sweeps are titled Fantasy Fund Sweepstakes so I decided to check the rules and this is what it says:
Limit (1) one entry per household and per e-mail address per day per unique brand presentation for The Fantasy Fund Sweepstakes (referred to as the “Promotion”) regardless of method of entry.
Anyone?

Per unique brand should mean that you can enter for each mag in a day.
So... if an IWG win is based on time - is it the time you open the site, or the time you hit enter? Sometimes I have many tabs open and go between them. could a delay conceivably cost me a win?

Great question
It varies, I have noticed on some its from the time you log in, and then on some its from the time you enter a code. Watch the url on the different ones, most will have a code (confirmation ID) at the end. Of course there are some I cant quite figure out.
Maybe someone else might have a better answer.
elena_398 1-20-2009, 10:13 PM same with me. I open a lot of tabs then go back and do them one by one. Good question.
inbruges 1-20-2009, 10:27 PM With most, I think it's right after you enter your email address, or a code if you have to enter one. I always open about 20 IWG at once in one big tab and I sometimes get a winning email from eprize before I have actually either played a game or clicked on the skip to see if you won, but right after I entered my email address. This definitely applies to the eprize IWG.

I think too after you press enter you get the either a win code or a lose code. I do that too and when i won the french toast $10 kmart card. I forgot i was playing that game and went back to it like 2 hours later and I won. So i don't think this could cost you a win.
ok - next question - be honest - when you see someone here received an email indicating a win on a contest - do you go check your sweeps account to see if you, too, got a winning email? :D
I often do...

flychild7 1-21-2009, 5:29 PM I check. Just in case... I have never found an winning email as of yet though :tongue1:
dmm2702 1-21-2009, 6:03 PM I am also guilty of checking :)
I don't check all the time but yes quite often....Then I'm like dang it why didn't I get one too!!!
BellaMia 1-21-2009, 7:30 PM I check several times a day. I got 2 surprise emails last year but none this year. I get bummed also after seeing so many people winning and I haven't won anything. But there's always tomorrow.
next question - did my last question make you go check your email? :D
BellaMia 1-21-2009, 7:36 PM Nope. I had just came from there.:D
BellaMia 1-21-2009, 7:39 PM I have a question....
Do you all enter all of the contests here, or most of them every day?
Is there days when you forget to enter? How do you all enter the contests? Manually or do you use some type of system? I tried the Sweep thing that was mentioned here a long time ago but it didn't work for me. I wish there were an easier and quicker way because it can take hours to enter all the contests.
Sorry, that was more than one question.
I enter some contests each day (not the same ones... )
I like the IWG ones, they are quick.
sometimes, usually weekends, I sit down and enter pge after page of them here.
happysunshine28 1-21-2009, 7:51 PM next question - did my last question make you go check your email? :D
LOL, yes it did.

I enter everyday, although every now and them I will skip a day. Unfortunately there is no easier way to enter them. I wear mouses out entering them, lol.
flychild7 1-21-2009, 8:14 PM I enter the ones that I really want. I enter about 200 a day. I do use google auto fill and that seems to make it a little faster
BellaMia 1-21-2009, 10:52 PM I can certainly understand wearing out the computer mice. I end up with a sore hand/wrist afterwards. I too use Google autofill but that doesn't work on all forms and sometimes I have to refresh the page because it won't work. It's aggravating. I just got a free mouse via the "freebies" forum for RA sufferers and I tell ya, I think my wrist hurts worse after using that thing than it did when I used my old mouse. My hubby who suffered/suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome can't use it cause it does the same thing to him. This thing is horrible.

Try roboform, its better than google to me. With google you have to catch it in time to fill out the form but with roboform it doesnt go away.
BellaMia 1-21-2009, 11:21 PM Is roboform a free service? Or is it a free trial and then a monthly fee?
flychild7 1-21-2009, 11:31 PM I don't understand roboform. I have it downloaded on my computer, but I don't know how to get it to fill in.
happysunshine28 1-21-2009, 11:39 PM Is roboform a free service? Or is it a free trial and then a monthly fee?
Its free, there is a version that cost but I use the free version.
I enter at least a few contests every single day. During the week I don't have as much time so I'll enter most all IWG and then select daily entry ones that I'd really like to win. On weekends I enter most everything....
I don't understand roboform. I have it downloaded on my computer, but I don't know how to get it to fill in.
Did you create a identity using the left drop down box on the toolbar? I put my name as the title and then it shows up as my name on the toolbar and I just click on my name or my mom's name every time when I enter.
jenesparza 1-22-2009, 10:15 AM i enter a few hours everyday thru the week...thats my easiest time because my kids go to school and hubbys at work. Weekends maybe an hour... just depends i at least try to enter everything new but don't worry really on the weekends since thats my family time.
Kash58 1-22-2009, 11:25 AM Ok all of you lucky people, I have been entering contests it seems like forever and never win anything either...but I am very patient, ;) Anyway my question is this, do you always check the boxes at the end that say you want to hear from them or their partners? I really don't want alot of junk mail but I guess if you don't want to hear from them then how can they let you know if you've won?
BellaMia 1-22-2009, 11:28 AM I make sure to not state I want to hear from them or their partners but I will tell you that lately I have been getting a lot of junk mail for different states like Texas, Florida, etc. For vacation planning. So I guess it didn't matter that I unchecked the boxes because I'm getting bombarded with all kinds of junk anyway.

I really don't want alot of junk mail but I guess if you don't want to hear from them then how can they let you know if you've won?
First off let me say...i'm loving your avatar. He's so yummy! ...okay now that i quit drooling. I alway select to no have additional offers from partners. I get enough regular email... if i had tons of junk mail i'd probably be deleting win emails..(i've done before) luckily i check my deleted email before i perm. delete. You will still get an email if you win. They just wont send you email telling you about other offers or promotions...in my opinion who cares because everyone on here is so good about posting contest (especially our great mod happy. ;), that ones for you girl your the best and most organized i've ever seen on any forum), i don't feel like i'm missing anything.

I always try to check or uncheck boxes, I get enough junk mail. But you will see an increase in junk mail and junk email from entering sweeps, not all sweeps let you choose not to hear from them. Keep in mind contest and sweepstakes are usually a companies way of advertising, so they want your information to send you stuff.
Kash58 1-22-2009, 12:12 PM Thanks for your replies.....that's the way I have been doing it too, not checking the boxes. I just wanted to make sure that's how you were doing it too, and I really do get alot of junk and spam mail so maybe I've deleted some wins. Do you open all of them or just delete? Oh and about my avatar.....I really like it too, just can't make myself change it, he's soooo nice to look at! :cheesy:
BellaMia 1-22-2009, 12:13 PM Oh, my daughter who is turning 16 tomorrow LOVES Johnny Depp. She watches every movie he is in. She especially likes him in Pirates.

I mostly delete them if the title doesnt sound interesting, lol.
jenesparza 1-22-2009, 12:26 PM I use outlook express so i dont know if this is the same for all email services...i do a search on my deleted email for the words, congratulations and then again on winner. If i haven't already opened it and read it usually i will breeze thru it and see ... thats how i found my email on the 500 dollar gc i won from lucky. the title was Piperlime shopping spree, and that just sounded like junk mail. Glad i did too because i had to respond to in within 5 days with my address on where to ship it. Its worth looking at anyway. We take all this time to enter.
BellaMia 1-22-2009, 12:29 PM jen, that's a good idea. I don't look at all my emails either unless it has something in the title that sounds like a win or something that interests me. I quite possibly could have won something and not known it now that you say your $500 gc win wasn't titled "winner".:(
inbruges 1-22-2009, 12:37 PM Jenesparza, how clever of you to do a search for congratulations and winner. Will start doing it from now also. Thanks for the tip, as I usually delete all the ones that don't say specifically you are a winner, etc.
To answer the original question, I always uncheck and decline and I have won a fair bit of stuff so far, probably about $1,000 ARV since I started Nov 2007.
flychild7 1-22-2009, 4:41 PM It's not a tip, but I have to say.. I finally got roboform to work and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I agree!:yup: Thanks happysunshine28 for suggesting this!
flychild7 1-22-2009, 4:56 PM Yes. Happysunshine rocks! I would have never continued my fight with roboform to work without her. It was worth the headache :tongue1:
smorris610 1-22-2009, 6:00 PM I'm sorry guys please excuse my ingnorance........but what is roboform??????
I'm sorry guys please excuse my ingnorance........but what is roboform??????
Roboform is an autofill program that you input your address and other information and when you go to enter a contest you press one button and all the fields have been input with your information and all you do is have to press enter.
flychild7 1-22-2009, 9:43 PM It's a wonderful thing. Just click and enter. It makes it much faster.
smorris610 1-23-2009, 10:34 AM ok thanks
Camkian 1-25-2009, 12:29 PM I accidentally deleted an email from WebMD with the subject "The Winner is..."
do you think it might have been notifying me of a win, or was it just spam that everyone got?

It was a newsletter sent to everyone. But it did name Joel R. from Alabama as the Wii grand prize winner. Hope that helps.
banks51 1-27-2009, 5:28 PM I notice no one puts caffine e-prize contest up, are they no good? I am new to this, also are there any good sweepstakes sites?
Caffeine contests are posted in here, but they are very hard to win. In 3 years I have only won once, and it was only a web cam. Do a search for caffeine.
BellaMia 1-27-2009, 6:23 PM I won a $25 gc for Itunes from a Caffeine IWG a few months ago. Haven't received the gift card yet though. I play the games occasionally but have only won the 1 time.

If you won it from this batch of games you wont get it for 6 to 8 weeks after they end.
BellaMia 1-27-2009, 7:19 PM Yea, I think I figured I would get it around summertime. I won it I think in October or November of last year.

does the release form require private info? (SSN, etc)
did you sign up for a contest w/ Silk?
Gunnershorthair 1-30-2009, 10:46 AM does not require ssn, but does address, telephone, and email,
I did sign up the contest
thanks
I'd go ahead and send it, if there is nothing you would not normally fill out in an entry form.
Gunnershorthair 1-30-2009, 11:35 AM thanks ,
jenesparza 1-30-2009, 12:43 PM gunner, do u remember signing up for the contest?....i would thin k if they just want you signature and address there would be no harm, you could even do a search on the web for the contest to see if they have the page still up. well anyway...Congrats
Gunnershorthair 1-30-2009, 12:56 PM I did search and the contest an it was there,
thanks jenesparza..

How do you do those autofill programs. I have AOL if that helps...well the free AOL with
Verizon DSL as my provider (I do not even have a Verizon email)
I know google has one but how do you get it so you can load the info into the contest you are entering? I know that is probably a stupid ? but I did have a program before and couldn't
get the info from point a to point b:blush:

BellaMia 2-3-2009, 1:20 PM Gunner,
Have you ever signed up to be a part of the Speak to Silk Consumer Advisory Panel Team? I have been a member for several months and they send me surveys from time to time and will offer you free coupons, samples, and enter you into contests for being a member. I just received a new survey from them to fill out a few days ago. Also, I won a prize from their sweeps that is listed here in this forum but as far as I know, the only prize you can win instantly is a $25 gift card to gifts.com, a cookbook or a 3 month membership to Best Life Corporation online and the grand prize which hasn't been given out yet and that is a trip to Hawaii.

BellaMia 2-3-2009, 6:03 PM amberleigh2, I did some searching and if I were you I would NOT give any information to this company. The site is a godaddy site and the domain was just obtained on January 25, 2009. It was obtained by Domains by Proxy. They are running a vacation scam.

Hello its me again The Village Idiot
I downloaded roboform..it went on my google desktop (even though I was using and have AOL)..how do I get it to go to my AOL toolbar? I am sorry that I am just not getting this..I really have tried. Do I have to enter contest through my Google gmail and not my AOL?
My home page is AOL and if I hit IE it goes to the Google desktop. Does that make any sense
I swear I have a learning disability when it comes to computers. In the real world I am actually fairly bright...honest  Well should the truth be told I suck at math too :o

here is a screen print of my IE browser, can you do a screen print of yours so I can see what toolbars you got and maybe can help.
To screenprint, print screen is in upper right hand corner of keyboard. Press that. then open up paint program in accessories, then edit, then paste. Save to your computer, then attach thumbnail here on gottadeal in reply box (paperclip)

I would say fake. I've never won and then they ask you to update your information....If it were legit I would think they would say please confirm your mailing details blah blah or something similar but not update your information...
amberleigh2 2-3-2009, 8:00 PM o.k. thank you everyone......That's awsome you guys even researched it for me!!:)
BellaMia 2-3-2009, 9:47 PM If it were legit, they would not direct you to the entry form page that asks you to enter to win. And there would not be tons of people getting the same exact email you did, worded word for word the same and everyone would not be getting scammed by the same company. This has been going on for some time. They just keep changing websites to keep people from catching on although obviously by reading the forum complaints I posted above, people know it's a scam.

If I haven't received a 1099 for my new york trip, should I just assume I won't be getting one and go ahead and file my taxes or do I still need to attempt to report it? On the affadavit there wasn't an amount listed....

I would call your tax guy and ask... I won a trip from Coke last year in november and When i asked Coke if they were gonna send me a 1099 form they said that since i was taking the trip in 2009 they were gonna send me in at the end of this year.
Have you already took the trip?
It would be above-board to report it, even w/o a 1099

maybe try calling the or emailing the people from the contest you won it from. That is weird they didn't fill in the amount.
Yes I took it in February 2008
How would I know what to value it at since the affy doesn't have an amount?
was there a retail value in the contest rules?
cotejb 2-19-2009, 11:31 AM was there a retail value in the contest rules?
I checked the rules and there is nothing in there so I sent them an email inquiring...

Well, I would definitely report it. If all else fails, check online for the cost of the things that were provided. Airline tickets, motel, food (if provided) Print them off and keep for your records in case anything thing is needed in future about amounts being different.

beenthere1that 2-26-2009, 4:22 PM Has anyone ever gotten an automated call from UPS notifying them of a planned delivery? My husband said he got an automated call today saying that we would get a delivery tomorrow between 8 - 5 but no more details. One thing I ordered from Amazon is being shipped USPS ( I checked), so now I am wondering if I may have won anything wonderful that I need to sign for.
Probably!
I got an automated call to make sure I was home to sign when I won a Wii.
Good luck!

I also got a call a day before UPS delivered my fridge
beenthere1that 2-26-2009, 5:19 PM Thanks jdoug & arijana.. I hope it is something fun! FedEx left an envelope at my door with no warning or signature about 7 years ago. It had $15,000 in home depot gift cards that I won in it! Luckily it was still on my porch when I found it!
BellaMia 2-26-2009, 6:02 PM beenthere1that, I got the call today too. I wasn't here but my hubby got the phone. Is the phone number that called you 336-332-7835?
Are you expecting a campaign package from bzzagent? I am but I am not sure if that is what it is or not. I am hoping not, since I want to win something nice and big.
flychild7 2-26-2009, 6:23 PM I am expecting something from bzzagent, and I didn't get a call. There is hope.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever won anything from Madberries, they have alot of great prizes, but I never see anyone winning from there and don't know if I should keep entering?

No, I am not a member of Bzzagent. I don't have caller id - so I don't know the # that called. My only significant win lately was a Flip Ultra Camcorder from the Go-Gurt contest - but I am not expecting to receive it until after that IWG ends 3/31. Well, I'll be sure to post what it is tomorrow- you too!
BellaMia 2-26-2009, 10:19 PM I definitely will post what I got if someone is here when it's delivered. I won't be here since I'll be with my Mom so I am hoping hubby or my kids will be. If not, then I'll have to wait until Monday. Oh, that will be tough.
It sounds promising though. I was dreading finding out that it was my Glade products from bzzagent but they have sent me stuff before without requiring a signature.
Hey, maybe we both won some money. Wouldn't that be great?

Hey, maybe we both won some money. Wouldn't that be great?
Well, at least you will be able to see what I get from UPS. I should be home most of the day. You can count on me to post as soon as I get the package. Let's hope it is something great to lift your spirits! Watch, it will be a tee-shirt! Did you win in the Kraft cheesiest IWG? I have two children that each won, only one prize has been rec'd by UPS but no call/signature was neccessary. I mostly only play IWG's at the moment - so I would think it would be a prize from one of them....we'll see!
BellaMia 2-26-2009, 11:44 PM No, I didn't win anything in the Kraft cheesiest IWG. I actually haven't won anything recently, especially anything big. I would imagine if it were just a t-shirt or small gift card, like a $25 dollar gift card which is the largest I have won except for the JcPenney $250 card last year, that they would not really need a signature for that.
Hey, don't jinx us with that t-shirt business.:eyepoppin I definitely DO need a big win to get me out of this dark time I'm in right now. We are gonna get something big. Ya hear?:yup: Just keep those fingers crossed. I told my hubby that last night I couldn't sleep. Mainly due to worrying about my Mom but I just got this feeling that came over me that the USPS or UPS was going to come to our door and require a signature and that I had won an Xbox 360. Now that would be nice. When my hubby called me this afternoon and told me about UPS calling, I told him he was lying. But he wasn't. I checked the caller id. It was true. So, did we win a game system? I could really use the money right now but a game system would be nice too. I HAVE been trying to win several different ones although I'd love to have the wii and the wii fit. That would help me get motivated to exercise which would boost my mood.
Anyway, I will be checking back tomorrow evening to see what you got and hopefully I'll have mine by then too. GOOD LUCK!!! I'm praying for something big.
beenthere1that 2-27-2009, 6:15 PM BellaMia,
Oh what a disappointment! The delivery I received from UPS requiring my signature was a $10 I-tunes gift card I won from the Pop-Tarts IWG! It probably cost more to send it to me than the $10 it is worth. I sure hope that you receive something far more wonderful! Please let us know....
Even bigger bummer - I just went to the PopTart IWG thread and saw that you won that also, meaning that it probably is what you are getting from UPS. We can have our own pity party!
BellaMia 2-28-2009, 1:10 PM You are right beenthere1that. I too received the $10 itunes gift card. My hubby called me while I was at the hospital yesterday and said that UPS had just delivered the package and it was the $10 card. I asked him to open it. When he said it was an envelope I got excited but then when he said it was just a $10 gift card I was SO bummed. What a let down!
And yes, we do need to have our own pity party. Just when I thought I had won something big, it turned out to be a small gift card. We can use it but I was hoping for something a whole lot better.
I could use a $10 Itunes card... :) celebrate all the wins, big & small.
BellaMia 2-28-2009, 5:47 PM conj, I'm happy to win the smaller things too. I was just hoping for a nice surprise win and it wasn't. It was something I knew I had already won. That was a let down. Maybe next time.
I have a question, I won one of the Kraft IWG where they were giving out $14 worth of coupons and I never recieved mine. I went to look for the contest in the expired section of the forum, but can't find it. Who would I contact to tell them I didn't recieve my prize yet? I think some of you recieved yours and got coupons for planters nuts, cheese, and crackers. Thanks in advance for any replies.

inbruges 3-18-2009, 10:25 AM I have the impression that not many new sweeps are being posted. Haven't seen Happysunshine around for awhile. Anybody knows if she is taking a little time off or something?
BellaMia 3-18-2009, 11:14 AM I've seen her on lately but not as often.
it takes a large investment of time on her part to do all the work she does - we can all help by posting the contest and swps we find.... I know I am particularly guilty - of posting the bare minimum info with the intent of coming back and adding rules and other info...
flychild7 3-18-2009, 1:21 PM That's a good idea. I know I have seen sweeps, and I don't even think about posting on here. Maybe if we all put a bit of effort in, we can help her out. :)

I used to post sweeps alot but there for awhile happy and arijana would post them before i got the chance or I didn't have the time so I got used to not posting them. I'll try to start adding some more.
BellaMia 3-18-2009, 1:33 PM I post sweeps from time to time when I see them outside of our forum here. I'll be on the lookout for more.
BellaMia 3-18-2009, 11:49 PM I have a question, I was just looking around to see where the contest that the video game that we received came from today. It is from the footaction.com Afro Samurai "Mix Your Own Style" sweepstakes that was held between January 27 and February 28, 2009.
The problem is, there were no 1st prizes or alternative prizes listed for that contest except the ones I pasted below. I am wondering why we only received the video game and nothing else. I am planning to call the company that sent the game tomorrow and see what they have to say because now I am feeling cheated. What do you all think?
GRAND PRIZE (one [1] will be awarded): The Grand Prize shall consist of one (1) notebook computer, one (1) Computer Music Mixing Software Package, one (1) five hundred US dollars ($500) Footaction Gift Card (subject to all terms and conditions at www.footaction.com), one (1) portable MP3 compatible boom-box or similar portable sound system, one (1) MP3 player, one (1) video gaming console, one (1) “Afro Samurai” video game and a check in the amount of five hundred US dollars ($500). All specifics of the Grand Prize including but not limited to manufacturer(s), model(s) and platforms of select items are at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of the Grand Prize is four thousand, nine hundred and sixty-four U.S. dollars ($4,964.00).

Afro Samurai video game was a prize for Church's Chicken Livin Large Sweepstakes also. Link to sweeps not working I found the info on another site.
BellaMia 3-19-2009, 7:55 AM The contest listed on the letter I got says the footaction.com Afro Samurai "Mix Your Own Style" sweepstakes that ran from 1/27/09-2/28/09. The only prizes listed for that sweeps are the ones I posted above. There is nothing in the rules that says you may only win the game. It just lists the Grand Prize package. It would be nice if I won all that but I only got the game so I am baffled. I guess I'll find out later today when I call them.

Wow. Hopefully you get the full grand prize. That would be amazing. Good luck.
BellaMia 3-19-2009, 1:22 PM Well, I tried calling MBC Promotions and the phone number listed on their letterhead that I received yesterday is no longer in service. I went to their website to submit some questions but their online contact form does not work. I tried calling FootAction since it was their contest and I asked the woman who answered about the contest and she was down right RUDE. She claimed they did not have any information on the contest and did not have contact information for MBC Promotions. I find that hard to believe but I wound up hanging up on her because she wanted to yell at me. I could not believe it. What the heck? I feel this contest was a hoax honestly. I can't seem to get any correct information and I still don't understand how I got this video game yesterday for this contest, especially when it was not supposed to be the prize.
I guess I'll have to be real careful about the contests I enter from now on and not to expect to really win what is advertised. If my name were in fact drawn like this letter states, then where is everything else that I was supposed to get? I am really confused and I have no idea why this woman at FootAction was so rude to me. All I asked is if she had contact info for the company that gave the prize to me or info about the contest that was THEIRS and she got mean and nasty with me. Geesh!

prettynpink 3-24-2009, 8:59 AM ok, I thought you did not have to "Play" the games (IWG) to win prizes. Whenever you can "skip" the game, I skip it and have NOT won a single prize. Should I start actually "playing" the games and not "click here if you can't see the game" so I can start winning prizes?????
skipping the game does not affect your chances to win.
keep at it. you can try varying the time you play
prettynpink 3-24-2009, 10:04 AM thx
madgejr 3-25-2009, 7:20 PM I won a t-shirt from Castol GTX, but it said tht I would get a confirmation letter in a few minutes, it's been twelve hours, and I never got an e-mail. Did this happen with any other t-shirt winners. Does anybody know how to e-mail them?
BellaMia 3-25-2009, 8:07 PM I got an email right after winning and it came from here: (good luck)

The same thing happened to me. I then e-mailed after someone here said that they rec'd their confirmation in a few minutes and panicked when my e-mail was returned undeliverable.
The confirmation e-mail showed up almost 36 hours after the win.
If you go to the Castrol contest thread, you will see that we aren't the only ones. After my experience, someone else posted that the difference is that if you receive an immediate e-mail, you can choose to have a shirt made with the car that you designed. If you receive the confirmation e-mail later, then you have a choice of "you've been sludged" or an "Ashley" design. This is a nice win because you also get a choice of shirt size.
Congratulations!

I e-mailed them and they sent a t-shirt confirmation code pretty quickly.
BellaMia 3-26-2009, 5:21 PM Glad to hear you'll be getting your shirt after all.:D
prettynpink 5-13-2009, 1:42 PM Question: at what time (minute) should one enter the $20 gift card COKE giveaway. --:05, --:10, --:15, --:20 etc ???

I've wondered the same thing...There is no way of telling. I even won a card and waited exactly five minutes and it didn't work b/c I didn't win the second time...I think it just depends.
One time when I did win it was :46...
beenthere1that 5-25-2009, 2:24 PM New poster here.
Not sure how to say it, but why do some people Abuse the space in the forum to put 'ty' every day that they enter into come contest or sweepstakes? It is kind of annoying. Why not just thank the op and be done with it.
I am not sure why some people do it every day, but I like to post a ty on all of the 1x contests I enter. After you comment in a thread, it will put a little dot to the left on the thread name. If I see a dot by a 1x contest, then I know I have already entered it. Perhaps other people have methods to their madness!
BellaMia 5-25-2009, 2:38 PM I do the same thing you do beenthere1that. I used to post in some of the daily sweeps every day so that I knew which ones I had already entered for the day and which ones I needed to enter. Sometimes when I would enter and other members here would post in threads for contests I hadn't entered yet, the threads would get bumped to the top, and if I hadn't posted "ty" in it yet, I would know to enter that contest, otherwise I wouldn't know. And other times, well, there are times when I get interrupted while entering and I have to come back here later so it would help to remind me where I left off. That all was when I was new to entering. I started entering last year.
Nowadays, though, I don't do it anymore because I find that it is too time consuming to post in every single thread. So I just enter all that I have time for and then go on to whatever else I need to do.
If I am entering early morning (before 5:30) and know I won't get online again for more than 12 hrs, I may post a TY to remind myself....
stacy0479 6-2-2009, 12:29 PM What do you normally do with your winnings from contests and sweeps? Do you normally keep them? Or do you save them up for gifts? Do you enter every sweep possible?
I am just trying to see what the majority of people do. I have won some things that I know I'll keep, but I think for the cash cards or gift cards, they might do good being gifts.
:)
stacy0479 6-2-2009, 12:39 PM Another thing, do you keep track of your winnings? So you know who to contact if you haven't received something?
stacy0479 6-2-2009, 12:42 PM Thanks for moving that. I wasn't sure if it went in this thread or not.
I won Mike and Ikes back on March 2nd and a Castrol T-shirt on March 31 and I still haven't received them yet. Does anyone know if it is supposed to take this long?

sometimes mike and Ike can take months to get.
castrol tee, was it from the game that ended on 5/31 if so it could take 6-8 weeks after game ends, most prizes come 6-8 weeks after games end, thats pretty normal on receiving prizes.
BellaMia 6-2-2009, 6:51 PM My hubby and Dad have not received their Castrol GTX t-shirts either. Course my hubby never received the $5 gas card from Chevron that he won back in December 2008 either.
Thanks for the replys Happysunshine and BellaMia! I will try to be a little more patient! :)
BellaMia 6-8-2009, 1:32 PM Has anyone had a problem redeeming the Pace coupons lately? I just got back from the grocery store and when I was cashing out, I had tried to get another jar of Pace with my winning coupon. Well, the cashier told me that those are fake. I was like "WHAT?" I just redeemed one two weeks and go with no problem and this was like the 5th one I have used. She said that there are fake websites and the coupons are no good. I dug through my bags in my cart and removed the jar and told her I didn't want it then. I even showed her the lid on the jar that shows the contest and she said, "well there are fake websites putting out coupons that are fake". So she wouldn't accept it. Needless to say I did not get the jar of Pace. And if the stores are going to refuse them, I'm not playing the game anymore. It's a waste of time. I think the manufacturers should honestly mail the "winning" coupons rather than making us print them so there is no question at the grocery store. I still have 2 jars of Pace so I'm not worried.
rachealb 6-8-2009, 1:51 PM wow- that stinks about the Pace coupons. The only problem I have had was one time the cashier would not let me buy two jars with two coupons in the same trip (no idea why). I havent won one in a while, but I will let you know if I do and have probs.
jenesparza 6-8-2009, 1:54 PM The ones i have won the last 3 times didn't let me print it...it took me to a screen that asked my for my address and then said that they were going to mail me my coupon.
