View Full Version : Please help me find a cheap plane ticket UPDATE

Help! I have never been on an airplane nor purchased tickets. I found some prices, but they were outrageous, so I am hoping someone can help me find cheaper ones. I need one ticket for an adult out of Atlanta Georgia to Columbus Ohio at anytime of day either tomorrow,Wed. or Thursday at the latest. Less stops the better, but need to save money! Thank you so much for anyone that can help me.


Update- Got the ticket from Atl. to Akron/Canton one way, nonstop for 101.00 total!!! I went through Orbitz.com and it was w/in 12 hrs. of flight time.

I use kayak.com most often
I have found sometimes going directly to Delta.com I find better deals especially when I fly in & out of Dayton, OH

Hard to get really good deals so close to the date.

Is it for a family emergency or funeral? Sometimes you can call the airline and see what they can do for you in those situations, however, you will have to verify the emergency.

oooh...I never thought of flying into Dayton or somewhere a little farther from us. I guess I could use Akron/Canton or Pittsburgh, PA too. Gosh, you guys are so great...thank you for the replies already. I am looking now!

Your problem is that you're trying to book so late. Obiously you were not aware any earlier that you need to make this trip but the rates generally go up the fuller the flights get.

I agree with Jenh that your best option is to book directly with the airline.

One way is always more expensive too. Check Airtran, they are usually pretty reasonable but don't fly into Columbus.

What about a bus? or a rental car? That may be cheaper than flying...

Thank you everyone! I really only knew of a few sites to go to. I think I will be able to find a ticket in my price range with all the help from you. Long story/short- family member needs to get out of Atlanta asap(job is paying for hotel and once he quits...they won't) Thanks again everyone.

It doesn't really show what I was seeing but I went to www.southwest.com and left from birmingham....try this site,the unavailables mean the I wanna get away deals...but $167.00 is not bad!

We downloaded the Ding from Southwest's website. I can get flights starting from from $24 one way!

this is a late answer...but for future reference:

even though you're only travelling one way...you may be able to get a better price for a RT ticket...then just don't use the return trip...


for example


flying united from chicago to las vegas tomorrow one way is 375

flying united from chicago to las vegas round trip leaving tomorrow, returning February 2nd is 338

Thanks for the heads up...just downloaded ding..but don't see any offers like that.:(
