I hope this thread stays active, as posters share their hints and clearance finds at Target. I've been Perimeter Perusing Target for about three years now, and find it helps me get through from one BF to the following year.
As many of you know, the Brick and Mortar store Target is known for their terrific clearance deals. You may have noticed that although the sticker price, including the reddish orange clearance stickers, says one price, that many times the items scan for less. It could be better for you if the item is priced higher and does scan less. Many shoppers do not realize this and pass the item by. Also, many times an item is not marked clearance in any way and I would suggest if you are interested in an item that you take it to the nearest scanner and check the price that comes up.
The standard clearance at Target works by items being marked down 15% or 30% initially. This price can last somewhere between two weeks to a month, depending on how well the item sells at this price. Then the item typically drops to 50%, again for two weeks to a month. Generally, the lowest an item will be marked down is 75% off, with a few exceptions. Items considered 'holiday' or 'seasonal' items have been known to go as low as 90% after the holiday, and you will find a few occasional display items or things found in the stockroom after inventory marked 80%-90% off. Almost always, the lowest price an item will go will usually end in $.x4 or $.x8, but not always.
A markdown schedule for the seasonal or holiday clearance is as follows:
Traditional Holiday clearance schedule
50% off day after holiday for three days
75% off fourth day after holiday for three days
90% off seventh day after holiday for 1-2 days.
Other than Chr-stmas this is the schedule used for holiday clearance, including Valentine's Day, Easter, Summerville, and Halloween, for at least the last two years
Also, Target is the only store I have found where many, although not all, of the cashiers seem to have the ability to bargain on a price when an item doesn't scan with one. There are times when an item will scan as 'clearance + tax'. Be happy in these situations instead of groaning. Sometimes the cashier can do a price over ride sort of thing to find the most recent lowest price, but sometimes if you say 'I'll take it for (whatever 75% off the marked retail price would be)' they'll just key that in. It's always worth a shot. Same thing applies for an item that scans 'NOF' (Not on file). This means the item is so old that it is completely out of the computer system. Again, I would try offering the 75% off the retail price, but if necessary a price can usually be looked up at the Guest Services Desk. However, if an item has gone 'salvage,' this may backfire on you. In this instance, Target marks the item back up to full retail value, before pulling it from the shelves and donating it to a charity, such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army for a tax write off. this is how Target claims to donate so much to charity.
The markdown teams in each store seems to keep to a standardized schedule, but there are stores that seem to have different ones. For those who do follow it the departmental mark down days are:
------- Mark Down Schedule -------
-Mon. -- Electronics, Kids Clothing and Stationary (Cards, GiftWrap, etc.)
-Tues. -- Domestics, Women's Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
-Wed. -- Men's Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty, Lawn & Garden items
-Thur. -- House Wares, Lingerie, Shoes, Sporting Goods, Movies, Music, Books, Decor and Luggage
-Fri. -- Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, & Jewelry
This schedule says nothing about weekend mark downs, but I have seen items change in price between a Saturday morning perimeter perusal and one done on a Sunday afternoon. I still haven't found any rhyme or reason to what gets marked down on those days though. Another part of the fun.
Go to Target.com (http://www.target.com) and see if there are any updates about new Target openings.
Target does not have a lay-a-way, but diehard Perimeter Perusers have tried various methods of getting around this. Most are constantly debated on the various forums dedicated to this subject as far as being 'ethical' or not, I'll leave it for you to decide for yourself.
When an item goes 50% off, and there are several left, some posters have said they find a 'hiding' place to put the item and they go back to see if the item is still there several weeks later to scan and see if it dropped in price. Some common hiding places shared is:
In the middle of a round clothes rack, where all of the clothes hide the item.
About a third of the way off the floor of a stack of pillows.
Behind similar items, perhaps with newer packaging, on the proper shelf.
Sometimes, when items are getting scarce at 50% off, posters will buy them at that price and hold on to the receipt. If they find the item later at 75% or 90% off, they will buy the item again, remove any clearance stickers that show the lower price, and return the item at another time with the older, higher priced receipt, as long as it is within the 90 day return period.
Target initiated a new return policy in November of 2002 that says any 'seasonal' clearance items returned will be refunded at the current clearance price, even with a receipt! They updated the policy in April, 2003 to specify these items as Chr-stmas trees and decorations and Hallowe'en costumes and decorations. As far as I know, all other seasonal merchandise should be refunded at the price stated on the reciept.
Other web sites to visit to find listed bargains are:
Target UPC finds (http://www.schumanfamily.com/fatwallet/targetUPC.html)
Freebies and Bargains (http://wc1.worldcrossing.com/WebX?14@@.eeed32a)
I hope y'all find this information helpful, and would love to know of other Perimeter Perusers tricks that I may not have covered!
I just learned something new on a different forum devoted to Target. I've now that the Target website puts out coupons to be printed and used at their SuperTarget stores, but I didn't know that if a regular Target carried the item you could use that coupon, a coupon from a Target circular if one happens to be out, and a manufacturers coupon all at the same time on one item. So, you can stack all three coupons on one item at either a Super or regular Target.
Here an online site to print off SuperTarget coupons.
Super Target Coupons (http://sites.target.com/site/en/supertarget/supertarget_coupons1.html)
Some times Wow coupons (http://www.wow-coupons.com/printable-retail-coupons.htm) has target coupons to print off as well, but they seem to not have any at the moment.

I also noticed ALOT of toys on flatbed carts getting ready to be shipped off, the employee I spoke with said that they are going to start shipping more out and marking down less. :yuck:
Obvioulsy they are selling to a discount store ie. Big Lots, Building 19 etc..and getting more money that way. They *claim* they donate it but she told me today they resell.

[QUOTE=cubs fan;1051900]Anybody know why the glade and renuzit plug-in fragrance refills (the x-mas ones) are not ringing any percentage off this year? I usually hit all my stores and buy them out at 75% off because they don't move them out of the smelly aisle and i get em cheap. This year none of their fragrance refills are ringing up as Christmas. I hit 3 stores in Chicago. Maybe it's just in the city? Anyone? I am very sad about this.[/QUOT
I scanned them here too and nope not 75% off. I got some last year also for 75 off

We have the employees getting the goods discussion periodically and people are split. When I arrived at the store that was going 75% the other day, and I knew to expect it so I was there as the doors opened, the entire overnight team was walking away from the Christmas section with carts full to overflowing, moving to the registers to pay. So, it was pretty clear who got the best stuff at that store.

They should have to wait until the doors open to put stuff in carts, like a regular customer would have to.

I know many people who worked retail. Most managers I know give their employees the chance to shop markdowns before customers. To me it is more of a bonus for them working where they do. Every job has its benefits.

I could go either way on this. A lot of jobs get extra perks.. so it can be considered a perk and to be honest I am fine with that as long as they leave some for me! :)

I'm also split on this. A few years back I worked at a discount clothing store doing markdowns and we always pushed a basket around with us to keep our tags and other supplies in, while we were scanning we would just put the stuff we wanted in the cart until the end of the shift and pay for it then. So now as a customer it kinda sucks to know that the employees are getting the good deals, but as an employee it is awesome to get in on them too.
Federal Way Washington - 75% this morning
Loads of stuff left. I had checked out the Kent store a couple of days ago, Federal Way was definitely better.
Picked up a couple lighted deer, paper, nuts, two pack of Christmas (???) deodorant, and the Armour All gift set. There were plenty of cookie sets, twin comforter/shams, trees, ornaments, paper - 3-4 aisles worth.
I felt bad for the cashier. She asked me if there were any of the Armour All sets left - I told her TWO. I offered to grab one for her, she said she couldn't, she'd have to wait for break. I can see it both ways. It would be tough to sit and watch people grab those deals and not have a chance to buy any of it.

So, should I have wrestled her to the ground for my paper towels? Should she have had the right to take them??? Inquiring minds want to know!
:gddrama:.)
Which store was this? I would be irritated only because you already asked if those were items going back on the shelf and she said that you could get whatever you wanted from the cart. I understand your anger.
So, last night I was asking whether or not anyone has had a store go 75% off the night before. I was just too lazy to get out last night, so I didn't check. Then this morning I thought about calling work and telling them I'd be late so I could go get what I wanted from the Olathe ST. Decided that seemed wrong and I don't need bad karma. I figured if it was meant to be, I'd get them during my lunch. What I wanted was some of the digital ornaments. They had quite a few but they were in an aisle near makeup and picture frames instead of with xmas. I thought this would help my luck. So I go in around 1:00 (during my lunch hour) and go right to the aisle, but everything in the aisle had been replaced with new product! Gasp!!! I go to the back where christmas was, and in the first aisle I turn down, there they were!!! YEAH!!!! I was SOOO freakin excited!!!
New thread, with the last few posts copied over so discussion can continue.
Please keep discussion related to Target clearance only. Off-topic posts will be deleted.

It was Ward Pkwy. I'm over it. It just didn't seem right to me. (course the shelf stockers are probably saying the same thing.) DH says I should have hip checked her and hit her on the head with a candy cane yard ornament. (HE TOTALLY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE SALE SHOPPING THING I DO AND MOCKS ME WHENEVER HE CAN.)
I was at Olathe at 9:30 this morning. It seemed very picked over to me. You don't think they went to 75% off mid day yesterday, do you? UGH. People have talked about that happening, but it has never happened to me around here. I hope they don't start doing that! I don't shop the Olathe ST very much at all, so I didn't really know what they had left. Did they have a lot yesterday when you were there? It seemed very sparce at 9:30.

Oh boy, I can't imagine that it will be 90% tomorrow. 'Course I was very surprised that they didn't even carry 50% off through at least one weekend day shopping crowd. So, maybe they are quite desperate to get this stuff outta their stores! I'm thinking maybe Saturday for 90%... ???

My feeling, and at least one employee I spoke with thought so too, is that the stores that went 75% on Friday will go 90% tomorrow. They are itching to set Global Bazaar, so I tend to agree that it will happen.
What stinks for me is that I am trapped at home by the Rose Parade until at least mid-afternoon. I could probably get out, but I couldn't get back in. We are about mid-way down the route, so it runs till about 11am or noon. Then the traffic has to clear out with everyone leaving. Oh well, I really only want to get wrapping paper and ribbons. I think the other store here in town won't go 90% till Wednesday, so I'll have to settle for that.

I went in today to my Target (Kentwood, MI) and they were FINALLY at 75% and I was able to snag my PEACE stocking holder for $7.49 (originally $29.99). I almost snagged it at 50% because I really needed a stocking holder for 5, but I held out and got the last one today!

My store went 75% off on Saturday so I'm going to be there early in the morning praying that they went to 90% off. They still had a bunch of cabbage patch dolls, trees, wrapping paper, lights, boxes, and christmas bags when I was there on Sunday so I'm hoping to get what I want. My husband told me I couldn't buy a tree until they went 90% off, so, I'm packing up my 2 little one's (almost 20 months and almost 2 months) and we'll be there with bells on!!:yup:

Funny, I was just thinking this today, my local Big Lots had an entire endcap of the college dorm kitchen sets everyone was scoring on here really cheap a while back but my Target (about 1 hour away) never discounted past 30% off and they came into Big Lots with Target price tags right next to the $20.00 Big Lots tags.....

I know many people who worked retail. Most managers I know give their employees the chance to shop markdowns before customers. To me it is more of a bonus for them working where they do. Every job has its benefits.
And ya know... I agree. I do think that they just need to wheel it on back to the stockroom quietly before it becomes "visibly available" to the customers. Nothing looks worse than an employee yanking something away from a customer. If she wanted them, then she should have just quietly taken them back to a place where she could later buy them. She didn't even know they were in her cart when she was working the aisle and then sort of tried to be a little sneaky about it... I get sneakiness... sometimes I even admire it! But, trying to tell me that they were on hold for someone was silly! She probably didn't like it when I giggled at that and said, "for who, YOU?"
Oh well, I can't complain. I had such nice cashiers yesterday and was extremely lucky. I think every one of them took a happy pill before coming to work yesterday! :)

Hackensack, NJ store at 75% (closed on Sundays, so sale started today). Pretty picked over- but TONS and I mean TONs of candy. Never saw so much left.Employee said they were stuck with more candy this Christmas and Halloween then ever before. Hoping they go 90 and have some candy left in a few days ---some of it at 75% still seemed like a lot. (2.50 for 5 oz of Hershey cocao)

We went 75% on sunday, so don't know what the chances are of 90% off tomorrow.. Not much candy left but loads and loads and loads of lights...,. and ornaments, ect.
On employee purchases.. if it bugs you that much, you can always get a retail job :).. personally, they can have it, and they are welcome to that little perk too!!!!

I don't think it went to 75% off yesterday - it really looked pretty similar this morning as when I left on Sunday morning so I just think everyone was there to BUY, BUY, BUY. I think that store is very busy regularly anyway. I rarely find very much in the way of clearance there because people seem to buy the stuff at the lower amounts rather than waiting until 75% off. They had almost no candy at 50% off.

Mine - Kohler, WI - was 75% today. Apparently I'm the only one in town who wasn't there cleaning them out. I got there at 3:30 and the parking lot was crowded. Many of the goods were gone. I was surprised to see all the Hershey's gone, guess I didn't need any more anyways.
I did scavenge and find a few good deals, though.
Little swimmers on clearance for 5.19*2=10.38-3.00 off 2 Huggies target coupon - 4.00 manu. coupon ($2.00 off diapers*2)=3.38 for 2 packs
No price on ornament, cashier suggested $1.50, I say "too much" she suggests $.50 - deal!
Huggies wipes (not clearance) $2.39*2-$3.00 off 2 Huggies - $.75 manu. coupon = $1.03 for 2.
Sorry 20 min game 2.49!, TY all for the tip, never would have known - it was unmarked, hiding in toys, and the last in the store. Too bad I couldn't pick up the other games.
Lots of cheap ornaments and other "christmas" I can use for birthdays for the year.
Unfortunatly no play-doh.:(

Thanks for listing all of that, I'm going to have to go back and look around. My cart was so full and stacked so high that I just went to Christmas and that was it. I couldn't see over the top of my cart and had boxes stacked in the front and then stacked up from the back up to underneath the handle you push with. LOL, people coming in said, "I guess Christmas must have gotten marked down again." I was thrilled to get some trees, I always say I want some extra ones here and there and never want to pay for them when the next year comes around.

Funny, when I lived in the boonies 25 miles was nothing. We had to drive that far to get to town. But living in LA, 25 miles is the other end of the earth!

Ya, I bet that was one of the only stores in KC who didn't go to 75% off the same day as everyone else, so EVERYBODY went there yesterday right at opening. Whereas the day before things were probably pretty spread out among all the stores who started their clearance that day.

One baby item I saw this morning was the Graco stroller and snugride carseat TOGETHER for $43.00!!!! It was the light pink pattern! That is an AWESOME DEAL!!! They also had jogging strollers, the Eddie Bauer Tandem Stroller clearanced.
Also for you scrapbooking people - I looked and scanned the xmas items and most scanned for 75% off - NOT MARKED at my store!
On the bottom shelves were some cute ornament making kits reg - $19.99 but got for $4.97!
AND the Toy section has been "straightened" since I was there yesterday - asked a sales person and he said mark downs will be this week - there are a TON of TOYS - hoping to get the Barbie Royal Throne for $12!!!!! Guess I will be back tomorrow and Thursday, ummm and Friday!!!!

oh, darn it... now I have to get out and brush my hair fast and get shoes on and GO! I had planned an entire day of deep cleaning but I have been watching that infant car seat/stroller combo for days. I need to run and get that if it has gone past 30% off!! They had 10 in my store 2 days ago at the 30% price.
We held off opening the sealed enveloped from our ultrasound until midnight last night and found out we are having another GIRL! So that travel set will be perfect; I had to toss out my infant seat after my daughter used my son's old one. Gosh, cross your fingers they went 50% off at my store and they have some left!

I didnt see anyone post this... but the Smith and Hawken / Target Brand Ducks - the Christmas ones are also included on the 75% OFF sale... I found a broken beak duck and my husband said I should buy him because he needs a good home.. and then I found another one in the Smith and Hawken aisle and it was just sitting there.. the last few years, I have been keeping tracking of when our clearance is. Our christmas stuff went 75% on the 31st as it has for the past three years and I have written down the 6th as the 90% off so 7 days from the day it went 75%. Our store has done this for the past three years so they have been consistent. Unless the managers are really wanted to reset the area, I think 7 days between the 75% and 90% has been fairly consistent. Of course, this could change depending on the store and the amount they have. I guess we will see as people start finding it 90% and see if its 7 days from when theirs went 75%

They were stocking the clearance toys today when I went over. All still at 30%, though.
We did find a few cute things that DD didn't want to pass up.
A LPS advent calendar (she actually says she's waiting until NEXT Christmas to open it up, and it's very cool!), and a Playskool soft soccer ball for DS. Both orig. price of $9.99, we paid $6.xx.
They still had quite a few of those holiday wrapping box sets (gift wrap rolls, bows, bags, etc that all match). Didn't brave going back to the other stuff b/c it was busy enough at the toy section. :)

Just got back from target and my store was loaded with stuff. I got the trouble travel game and was going to get a few more but decided I'm not sure if anyone in the family would want them so I put them back to leave for others. They had some very soft throws for $1.99 and thanks to the OP for mentioning the baked goods. We picked up 6 pumpkin pies @.49 each, the cashier and bakery clerk told me how to freeze them. Also got the holiday cookies at .79 each package and they also told me how to freeze them. Picked up all the playdough and even found the large bag hidden in the video section. Found the barbies which I bought 4 and they had about 10 left, got the bratz dolls, and the larger ones were ringing up 9.99 and the cashier marked them down to 75% off for me. Couldn't find any armour all kits which we really needed, decided to put back all the lights I had in my cart, there are so many there that there is bound to be some left at 90% off. They had about 4 of the fleece comforter sets but I didn't need any. They had a nice selection of everything. Good luck to all

Yes, but it is also a generalization. there is no hard and fast rule. they vary it by the quantity of stock left. Last year, one store in OC, CA went 90% off the day after Christmas.
You might not believe the number of posters who don't bother looking at that page. There are people perpetually asking the same questions again and again about the schedule.

Ours went 90% on the 1st last year. I went right after the Rose Parade finished and I was able to escape. The Target along the parade route didn't open till noon that day and I was able to get a few things. i found one today--connect four for 4.99 felt like i scored! LOL... also got a 42" lighted santa for 9.99 (weird price on it was 50 but rang up for this) and three boxes of 3 2ft trees to a box for 4.49 each, some indoor packs of extension cords 3 to a pack for 87 cents. also some light sets (350 count) and hooks to hang them outside, and some of the holiday tees for my daughter with snowflakes 1.25 on them so they will last the next couple of months---oh and they had eggnog taffy in a decorative box for 99cents.........so yummy i went back and got a couple more.
I didn't have a whole lot of time to look around outside of getting my ornaments. I ran through each aisle very quickly. I thought it looked like a decent amount, however since I'd already bought SOOO much Sunday at the other stores, they really didn't have much that I needed or didn't already have. I only got a few things other than the ornaments.
I was there at 8:30 and it was CROWDED. I mean so crowded that I couldn't navigate my cart through half the aisles.
Ya, I rarely ever go to this store! I think the digital ornaments might be the only good deal I've found on anything there.

Not much at Lake Stevens Target and didn't feel like driving around to any other's today. I was lucky enough to get dd a few shirts for next Christmas $1.24 each, couple of Disney rolls of wrapping paper $.74 each and there were only about 5 rolls left of Dora as well. Got some of the little ginger and cake/cookie sets since dd likes making those for $.74 each. Not much left at my store other than the giftbox wrapping sets..there were boxes upon boxes of those. I was hoping to find a gingerbread kit for next Christmas and maybe some other paper type products..no such luck.

I found the pink flowered Alano Graco travel set THANK YOU GDers!!! It went half price this morning; they still hadn't changed the endcap sign that said 30% off. Picked it up at the $85 price because it is rare for me to be able to find ANY baby supplies at 75% off. If I can find it at 75% I'll definately return the first :)
I noticed that this morning they also put a new set of baby stuff on 1st markdown (30% off)... maclaren stroller (silver one), more car seat travel sets, pack n plays, Sesame walker, etc. So looks like So. CA is behind other parts of the country for the baby markdown. That's okay, I'm glad I'm aware. Hoping to score a new pack n play for 75% off. I doubt I will find it at that price though and if I can't I'll try to get a freecycle one :)
Christmas was still 75% off at 10am when I got there. Don't know if it went to 90% off this evening, but there wasn't anything I really wanted left.
Lake Jackson, TX Target was 75% off today, with half the area being cleared for what I assume will be Global Baraar and the other half already filled with the special value pack sized goods. Also, my recipt printed out that Global Bazaar starts January 6th.
Let me know which store was the best! Also good luck!!!
I've been to the El Con, Speedway/Craycroft and Tanque Verde Targets. El Con had a LOT of lights left but were getting pretty picked over. Funny, when I lived in the boonies 25 miles was nothing. We had to drive that far to get to town. But living in LA, 25 miles is the other end of the earth!
I believe around $25.

I keep thinking it is Thursday already for some reason. I will venture and let you know if X-mas is 90%.
Went to out to the TArget here in San Antonio but no 90% yet. Their 75% started Monday so maybe tomorrow (Thursday) might go to 90%.

WEnt to Target here in Tennessee - no change...xmas still 75% and toys were not marked down anymore today - HOWEVER a ton of workers were "resetting" toys - SO ANYONE KNOW how long after resetting that they do more markdowns????
Did score 6 of the holiday ballerina Barbies for $1.24 each!

Thank you for the heads up. :)
I may go look at another Walgreens again since I had such good luck yesterday. I'll need some shopping comfort after going to the dentist this morning. :(

Target SE michigan Canton & Westland 75% still. Workers were putting all the X-mas stuff together on the back wall at one and I knew one of them and she said they thought it would go today so probably tomorrow. Toys at our were also being reset and put together on aisles and the back wall.

Still 75% off in Riverside County...Southern Cali...
Talked to the supervisor of the markdown team this morning..She was very nice...She told me she didnt know exactly what day they will mark to 90% off....They are not told ahead of time...
But she did tell me that all Targets will be doing the Christmas Seasonal Salvage on 1/9. She told me on that day everything will be boxed up and sent out....
So she said she expects the 90% to hit anyday now...
What are the chances it will be tomorrow?? Or do you think Friday perhaps?

I wonder if all targets will be hitting 90% off on the same day? There is still a lot left at my target including toys. A lot of the toys are still available because no one knows they are christmas because they are in the toy section and not the christmas area. I really hope they go 90% off tomorrow because I want to grab some barbies, cabbage patch dolls, and the express games.:yup:

If ALL Targets will be taking Christmas to salvage on Sunday 1/9, then we should see 90% on Friday.
They went to 75% early and they surely do not want to lose any more money.
And since 90% is usually only 2 days, then Friday 1/7 for 90% sounds right.
(I am really hoping it is Friday, since I have to go to a Funeral on Thursday morning)

Went to the store at Michigan (north of 86th street) and they had a ton of the holiday ballerina barbies! I got a few but still 10-20 left! WOW! Was amazed at all the red tickets in baby section on swings, boucers, high chairs, the pink stroller/car seat set, pack n plays, etc! Only 30 off so didn't get any numbers as waiting to go lower! Found a play dough for 1.24, one of the bratz ornament thingys all in the regular toy section! Not much else. Mostly wrapping paper sets, boxes, wreaths, and ornaments left! Already put some bazzar stuff out.....no candy that I could find! HA! They were moving a ton of stuff in the toy section-a few things were marked 50 off but mostly still 30! Oh yeah, Christmas still only 75 off!

I went to my target yesterday and they also had a ton of the barbie ballerinas ( in the red outfit), they rang up 1.25 so i got two of them for next year for my girls. They also had tons of the sprout cabbage patch kids, they were 2.49 i picked up two of them as well. I also got two of the my little pony stocking stuffers they rang up 6.99, but i told them they were supposed to be 75% off ( they were in the xmas section) and so they were $1 something. I also got two of the barbie nutcrackers ( small like ornamnets) that i can put away for next year too. I also got some of the kids holiday shirts with candy canes, etc on them for 1.24. Oh and a bath set in a really nice metal box, orginally 24.99. but it rang up for $3.75, so i picked that up as well.

Noticed that the Christmas design - oval shaped Kleenex is now 75%. When I scanned it before it still rang up full price. However, unless you need this size/shape, you are still better off buying the current 4 pack in the reset seasonal area with the bulk stuff.

Electronics are a funny thing. Sometimes they don't lower them. Several of us were watching things last year at this time, and this summer, and they got to 50% in some cases and then either disappeared (salvaged) or the prices went back up!! In some cases they salvaged at 30%. Other times they take them all the way down. It is really strange.
I watched some XBOX360 games stay @ 50% for a month before they finally dropped to 75% a week or so before Christmas....so they will probably go lower, but I'm not sure if there is a method behind it.
Jus wondering if any of the Target stores in northern NJ also have 75% off on strollers, car seats and other baby stuff......If anyone knows of any such stores, would really appreciate the info......thanks and happy shopping everyone!!!
I guess I will go tomorrow to check if it is 90%.
Hope they have good stuff left
I visited Targets in Lanham and Largo, MD today and they were taking the Christmas stuff off the shelves.
Lanham Target had the Christmas scented Glade scented oil candles (apple cinnamon) for $4.24. There is a $4 Glade candle coupon, so it came to .46. There is another coupon around for $3 off.
I purchased Christmas Barbie, 25 pack of mini pla-doh from the holiday section. It was 75% off.

I was told by one of the clerks at Target that their food coupons can be used up to 6 weeks after the exp date. I've used them far past the exp date... sometimes you'll get someone that will look at the date and say it's expired, but if you ask them to scan it, it will take it off. I've actually never had one not work and I've used them long after the expiration date.

The cashier is the monitor of valid coupon dates. Target, man. and most other store coupons are not programmed to stop working after the expiration date. Technically, expired coupons are not valid, but if your cashier doesn't notice or simply just doesn't look at expiration dates, then you've basically lucked out. Most coupons say one per purchase which means you can use one per item. That again, can be up to the interpretation of the cashier. You might get one who will give you a hard time about using so many at once, but if the coupon doesn't specifically say one per customer, then all should be honored. They can always fall back on whatever a specific manager may choose to limit. Managers have the discretion to limit your purchases. Hope that helps.

The solar lights were at the District, Jamboree and Barranca Parkway, in the housewares area. I saw them at the Target on Irvine Blvd (Tustin Marketplace) two days ago, in back near the bicycles--they were $29 then. There is no brand on the box, it just says Solar Light Value Pak. They are brownish plastic with led lights (I really like they way they look, they look a lot more expensive). The DPCI number is 009110588....hope that helps!
They had more sets at Tustin Marketplace than at the District, perhaps because they were only 50% off, when I was there.

Is it the concensus that toys will be 50% off around Friday? They have the VTech VSmart system (it was some sort of special item for the holidays) marked down to $34.98. I'm hoping it goes a little lower even though that is still a pretty good deal.

I don't know anything for sure, but if I had to guess, I am thinking that there will be a massive toy markdown next week... many things going from 30% off straight to 75% off. Last year, toys around here went to 75% off on the 9th. That fits with a next week time frame.
There are soooo many toys left (around here) that I can't imagine they will have markdown teams doing cuts from 30% down to 50% THIS week and then coming back next week and going down to 75%. Especially since it's already Thursday tomorrow.
UNLESS, they just decide to mark everything down to 50% next week and then let the aisles sit for another couple of weeks before they go to 75%, which would not fit with last year's timeframe at all. I'm kind of doubting that they would do that. I'm betting that next week we will see some major drops in the toy dept.
But, unlike holiday clearances, which seem to at least be within a couple days of each other throughout the entire country, toys can really vary. I don't know about other places, I just know last year most all the stores around here dropped toys to 75% off on Jan. 9th.
Went to Target this morning. They were doing some MAJOR moving of toys, and had started making clearance aisles of them. Lots of toys were sitting around in carts waiting to be moved. I found the travel games for $5.00, but all they had left was Trouble and Battleship. Lots of paper and lights left, but no trees. I heard a couple of people who were helping with the moving of the toys talking about them going on markdown soon, but no firm date was mentioned.
That's pretty much what I was thinking (about the toy markdown). I'll just have to keep checking back. I want to get it for my daughter and then save it for her bday (June). She plays with it every single time we go to Target. Today, I had a hard time getting away from the VTech. :)

I have to agree. While there are some items I would sure buy at 50%, I don't think they are going to go there this year. Around here last year, they marked more items to 30% earlier, then did the 50% week after Christmas and then 75% that second week of January. Since they started with fewer marked early, I think they'll do the whole bunch in one fell swoop. Particularly since they need to get the new toys out. January is when there are TONS of new releases of toys and toy lines. In some stores they already have some of them out, so you can see a bit of what is coming.

Am I the only one that hopes for tomorrow?
I'm off but have to work on Friday! I wish I lived in CA. At least you can see in advance what is happening on the east coast! The weather has been terrable here too. There is usually some type of storm on the days the best sales start.:(
Still 75% off Christmas stuff in Lynnwood Target (near Seattle). Lots left - choc covered cherries, cards, wrapping paper sets, ornaments, decorations. Everything is back near the sporting goods in the back, nothing is in the food area. Toys are a mess, mostly just 30% off, even though I have seen some of the toys at 50% off at the Northgate Seattle Target.
Side note - I was hassled today for using internet manufacturer's coupons. They said that they wouldn't accept them even before she tried to scan them. Called manager over and he said that unless they say Web Coupon on them (like the target coupons) they won't accept internet coupons. I will be contacting CS to have a print-out of the policy in my bag. These were even directly from the manufacturer (Johnson and Johnson, for example) and not even from a coupon site (like Smart Source). GGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Oops, I forgot about this deal. They had "Hello Kitty" small appliances marked 50% off. They had the popcorn popper ($13.??) and toaster oven and the sewing maching. Found 2 person wagons for kids on clearance for $41 from $59.99

Ghirardelli Chocolate - Double Chocolate Brownies Premium Mix (makes 4 batches) for $4.88 from $6.99
Planters Winter Pack of Peanuts (3 Types) Purchased for $2.33 (Here is why -- I noticed all of the other boxes had clearance stickers for $3.48 and the original price was $6.99. This was the only box that was marked $2.33 but the original price was $3.33. When I went to the register, it rang up the $3.48. I told her the sticker said $2.33. I was at a couple of stores today and noticed sooo many Christmas items scattered throughout the store. This is such a hectic time of year for the shelf stockers and markdown teams at Target that its hard for them to keep up (and keep merchandise in its correct place). Unfortunate for Target, but great for customers, especially if you are familiar with what is holiday merchandise. When stuff goes to 90%, those next 2-3 days are some of the most fun scavenger hunting of the whole year. Many shoppers (GOTTADEALERS excluded of course!) may only look in the holiday clearance aisle, or only be looking for the orange stickers, but holiday merchandise isn't stickered, so some items can be sitting around anywhere untouched cause nobody knows they are holiday! Plus there are so many returns coming this time of year that stuff is always popping out of nowhere.
However, after the stuff is salvaged and rings up 0.00 or item not found, it's up to the store as to whether they will sell it to you or not. Then it becomes a game of "name your price" and hope you get lucky. I think that holiday stuff only stays at 90% for just a few days at the most. (I think someone on here said it was going to be salvaged on the 9th???)

They go in early in the morning, around 4 or 5am and work until 2 or 3pm usually. They do not work overnight, but items marked in the early morning hours are ready when the store opens. Sometimes this includes toys. Just depends on the schedule. They are provided a list of items in different departments each day and they go through that. If there are a ton of things in one department, like toys right now, they'll all work it together and go aisle by aisle. If there are some in HBA and some in Pets, they'll split up and knock it out that way. Most of the time they stick somewhat to the schedule on page 1, but when they have more than usual, they will sometimes get behind and the days are off.

Oh, almost forgot, I saw another Butterscotch Pony today at the Target on Madre in Pasadena if any of you SoCal types are looking. He was on the top shelf over the games as far in the back corner as you can get. If those go straight to 75% some employee is likely to get it, but if you really want it and can get there at the right time it could be you!
In Antioch, CA (Northern CA) our Target has a lot of Butterscotch Ponies...they are around $178.
Just got a call from my friend on the east coast, as she is standing in front of a scanner at Target at 8am. She reports that her Target is still at 75 percent this morning. So it's no 90 again at least for now. RATS!!! :gdparanoid:

I love you.
I saw you posted yesterday morning too so this morning I thought to myself, Self, you need to get up and check Gottadeal to see if Halee's mom says Target is 90%. If it is, you have to get up, but if it's not, you can go back to bed.
Because your stores open first and you are nice enough to share with us, I can go back to bed.
THANKS!!!!!
It's easier to call for me rather than getting 2 little ones there and find out it is still only 75% off. I'm wondering if I should be there when the doors open tomorow, hmm...
Have a nice rest:)

I actually stopped a lady in the parking lot yesterday to ask her if it had gone to 90 or was still at 75. It was nice to not have to drag two kids out of the car and into the cold to find that out :). I had to go out briefly for something else, so I was in the area, this morning I will just call and check. I did find what I thought was a good deal the day before yesterday. I found the Thomas and Friends Holiday Gift Pack which includes Christmas Thomas, Percy, 2 holiday caboose, 2 trees and a wood storage box that was marked from $40.00 to $19.98. I just took it up to the cashier and siad these other toys ( little pony minty christmas, dora car, etc.) are ringing up %75 off, but this one is still ringing up at %50, will you do a price overide since it is a christmas toy? She did, she took %75 off the $19.98 making it $4.98 and then I used the expired Thomas $5 off coupon making it free...my kids were excited to play with it...only I thought it included some track also..but it does not. I would NEVER have paid $40 for that, but free, yeah, I'll take it. :)

Ya know the only place I found them for 75% off was a Super Target. All the "regular stores" do not have them included with the Christmas stuff. Kind of strange. One of the regular stores was stocking an entire end cap with them orange stickered at $3.48 (1/2 price). Kind of bizarre.

Just at Easton (Columbus OH) store. Their christmas is still 75%. They are still putting out more clearanced toys, which are still marked 30%. However, they still have several of the $1.24 Barbies and they also have a couple of the Just in Case games that were $19.99 for$4.99. They were over in the toys by an endcap in one of those wire racks. They had 1 battleship and 2 trouble left.

I was told by one of the clerks at Target that their food coupons can be used up to 6 weeks after the exp date. I've used them far past the exp date... sometimes you'll get someone that will look at the date and say it's expired, but if you ask them to scan it, it will take it off. I've actually never had one not work and I've used them long after the expiration date.
completely your mileage may vary. i just woudln't use too many at once

Locate the item that you want to find. When you click on it, there should be a tab that says something like Find it at a Local Target. Then you can type in your zip code or city/state and it will show if any are available.
I have found this system to not be 100% fool proof. Sometimes items are in stock and they show out and vice versa.
Good luck! :)

Just keep watching. It was $149.98 yesterday but the markdown team was just starting to go through the toy section and she said she had just marked it down. It wouldn't hurt to try price checking the SKU numbers in the scanner if you have that type of scanner.

Went perusing this morning. Still 75% but there's only 1/2 an aisle left. Mostly those darn boxes of gift wrap that nobody seems to want. Global Bazaar is already getting set up.
I did happen to find a few things. Those slipper/sock things with snowmen on them were $1.24, I found a cool martini shaker at 75% off regular $17.99. It's really nice and comes with the recipes for about 8 different martinis. Scotch Tape and those Scotch paper cutters were hanging in the stationary aisle. The cutters were $1.24 and the tape was .99 for a 2 pack.
The entire toy dept was closed off. There were about 15 workers doing there thing in there. Can't wait to see what they're doing.

No joy on the Wine Cooler. I found some at one of my stores, but they are still $50.
I'm suprised at how many GD'ers live in the South County area. Keep your eyes open for the toy Clearance to go more than 30% I have a little guy desperately wanting some of the Cars toys on clearance. The SoCo store did have a few of those Christmas Thomas sets that people were talking about. They were orange stickered to $19.99 I believe last night. Anyone in S. Fl. West Palm Beach to be exact. I have been really sick and not allowed out and about for the last month and I am so jealous of all the great deals. my target (sunrise, FL) still had 4-5 aisles of Christmas, no way can I see them going 90% off tomorrow unless they are desperate to clean out that section of the store.
In the Okc area, stores are still 75%. They keep coming up with things that I hadnt seen the day before. They had Barbie dolls 1.25 and the little disney christmas princesses 1.25. The little cabbage patch sprouts for $2.48. They are starting to mark down other things too. I bought 2 sleeping bags; one was Pixar Cars Lightning McQueen and one was Barbie princess for $3.44. Also bought a Spiderman Venom 8 pc set (includes a tent, sleeping bag, thermos, flashlight;a colapsible seat and a water bottle for 7.28 (regular 34.99 I think). They were also putting the toys in one area. I asked one of the clerks that is really friendly about when things would go to 90% in Christmas and she laughed and said.. who knows... we have all been guessing each day and have been wrong. They were putting up the Bazaar things up so I am sure its coming soon!!!!!
Oh they also had the Fisher Price Launch pad that were $24.99 for $6.48. The little extra figurines were $2.48
Was in my Lexington, KY store today...they had a good 4 to 5 aisles of Christmas left at 75%. Toys are only 30% so I didn't waste time there but I did find 2 pack HD one use cameras for $3.74.

None of the Kool Toyz but all the Thomas stuff and games, V-smile, too many to remember. It looked as though the mark down team got done late and they were not very picked over and I heard a woman on her phone telling her friend that she was glad she came back after work. Just a heads up.

Did anyone happen to buy the Capture brand digital picture frame that is 7inches for Christmas?? They were on clearance tonight and I was wondering the quality. We had to return our Pandigital as it never even worked and they had none left. TIA

To all NY/NJ Target lovers, have you seen any stores that have good decent Holiday Candy Aisles left? Thanks so much again!
If anyone in the St. Louis (south county) area please let me know if the Fisher Price Launch pads go more than 30% I really want to get this for my son & some of the keys too. He loves playing games on the computer but I would really like it if he could play them without opening 343000 windows!! :eyepoppin if you could hide one for me I will be your best friend LOL

I was at the SoCo Target last night & they had next to nothing compared to the Arnold store. Make the extra 5 minute trip & try that store. They always have way better deals. I love the Arnold store not just because its right down the road but there are never as many people there. :)
It is right down the road from me too. I don't know if it was a blessing or curse that it opened. My DM said going to Target is an addiction for my DD and I. Even my DGD drew Target in her favorite thing book at school. lol
We are probably cruising the end caps at the same time. :yup:

Christmas still 75% at my local store. Nothing good left at all. Toys still only 30%. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll hit it at 75% before things get picked over. I keep checking this thread to see if anybody has seen the toys at 75% yet. I did find some shoes for my girls and my two nephews for $3.24 a pair.

I live right by my store too. I live in the neighborhood behind it. I can't believe how much Christmas stuff is left, almost 12 aisles, although they could probably be consolidated. Tons of stuff, they've never had this much in the 3 years I've been 90% shopping. I'm wondering if our store will elect to wait a few days until they go 90...it just seems too good to be true. Going at 8:00am tomorrow just in case though :)

Oh, and I looked at baby stuff and found 2 Aspen Simplicity changing tables for 50% off making them $39.00 each. I bought one, good deal for one of those. I need one for upstairs and one for down!

I went out at lunch yesterday and thought I hit the jackpot on some of the toys not in the clearance section! But when I went to scan them, they were full price like you said (this was a different store from where I was the day before) So go figure. I guess I learned not to get too excited till I scan the stuff...
