Be careful buying just any ball for a gift. There's weights and drilling and specifications, depending on the type of "ball you throw" (hook etc)

DS on the bowling team-- crappy coach told him get a ball at 10% of his weight-- he was pretty good so we hired a private coach for 2 visits-- that guy immediately said the ball was too light, the wrong material etc. We ended up at a bowling shop for the right $160 ball. He got "most improved" in the county last year!!

Great.

He bowls with a 15 pound ball but I have no ideal about the holes. I guess Imight need to geta gift certificate and let him go somewhere, but if there are any deals anywhere let me know.

bowlersparadise.com is a great web site. Or call your local bowlers association for a reputable driller and they usually can get you a good deal

So may people take up this sport and then give it up... there are always lots of this stuff at our local Goodwill.

We received bowling balls as a gift... They were purchased at Sports Authority, and came with a certificate for free drilling. We went in and had our fingers measured (lol) and they drilled them and had them ready in about 3 days.

I would just ask the place you purchase from if drilling is included.
