What do you want to do with it? Just surf the 'net or something more intense?

What's your budget?

What screen size are you after? 14.1" or 15.4", a tiny 12.1", or a gigantic 17"?

Hey Marcster, I am not the op, but I need a deal on a laptop...I was dumb and did not buy one on BF. Do you think there will be any deals before Christmas(like the ones on BF)? I just want to surf the web...ebay...shop....any size screen. TIA

Also looking for a laptop deal. I passed on BF deals because I figured I'd just pound away on my laptop for another year or so. Of course, a week later I'm having all kinds of trouble with it and kicking myself!!! I'm looking for something basic, but nice: dual processor, at least 1 gb memory, 100 gb hd, dvd burner. The one I'm REALLY kicking myself for passing on was the HP I saw on staples.com on BF for $449 (after rebates)--2 gb mem (upgradeable to 4), 120 gb hd, lightscribe dl-dvd burner, firewire port...when do people think I can get another deal like that?

You can buy something like that without the 2 GB of RAM and would just have 1 GB for about $450 at OD or BB and then for around $30 if you know you to do your shopping right, you could get a 1 GB memory upgrade thus making the total 2GB.

That is directly dependent on whether the computer manufacturer decided to use two 512mb RAM chips or one 1GB RAM chip. :smart:

90% of manufacturers will use the two 512mb chips.

Best Buy is suppose to have a fairly decent laptop in their ad 12/2 for $399. Pretty comparable to the BF laptops from CC if I remember reading that somewhere correctly... :tongue1:

Go to office depot tomorrow and check out: Toshiba Model A215-S7422
#635205 for $550 or HP Model DV6660SE #598965 for $860
first one will take care of your needs, second one will take care of your needs and should be plenty fast enough.
