Personal credit card holders (not business), do they regularly increase your credit limit or do you have to request it?

They've increased mine probably 15-20 times in the past 7 years, if not more. Went from a regular card to a platinum. Never asked for any of them.

I'm currently at $10,500 and I'm not sure it needs to be increased anymore.

Mine is currently $25,600, and less than 2% of that is being used by me, lol.

i'm at 15,700. they were raising it when i was using it routinely - i stated with a 1,000 limit my first year of college. i've had this card for nearly six years now.

they haven't raised it in a while since i haven't used it. i'm waiting for a decent credit card offer (i.e. fixed APR on balance transfers, instead of these "until january 2006!" crap.)

0% balance transfer fee and low APR for the "life of the loan" balance transfer offers are rare.

I have MBNA and they always raise the limit. It's somewhere around 25K or so. I don't even use the card.

My wife and I each have an MBNA platinum plus.

I think our combined credit with them is nearly $60k. We use them regularly, but pay them off every month. I think that is why they haven't raised our limit in a while.
