Not quite $399 shipped, at least not for me. Since this deal is offered via Dell Business, you are expected to enter a business name. No big deal because anything is accepted. However, if you are not a business with a tax exempt ID, you will likely be charged your state sales tax.

Being a small business owner, I wanted to let you know that a Tax Exempt ID would only be valid for someone buying laptop(s) to resell.

Businesses pay sales tax on any item that they won't be reselling, including desks, office supplies, and laptops.

Make up one, be the sole proprietor and use your social security number instead of a tax id#. I use to do crafts and had a name I used for ebay that I used. I never acquired a tax id#, used my ssn.

I will tell you, the web site was having problems and it wouldn't let me submit my order without an error. I had to call it in and I was asked a lot of questions about what my business is, which I had no problem answering.

I have a line of credit with them, but Vostro is considered a "business machine" and I have a Home office account, therefore even though I have a lot of credit w/them through my "home account" I cannot buy a business machine using that credit. I feel your pain on this one meganingle...I too have a Dell Preferred Account with quite a bit of credit available on it and was unable to use it for this business machine. I did end up purchasing it on a credit card though cause the deal was just too good. I'm actually probably going to end up getting another one tomorrow, as I was initially searching for one for my brother for Christmas. But, being a tech junkie, I wanted one too!

I still havent received an email at all regarding my order I placed via telephone. He said he would send me an email ASAP:confused: When I go to Dell though and sign in and check order status, my order is in production. Says it will be delivered between December 3rd and December 5th :)

I have a business acct with eppbuy code, and yet it won't let me use the code for a vostro... Doubt it beats the deal anyway, but I find that odd.

I just purchased one this morning for my daughter. I was considering getting in line at BB on Turkey evening and trying for the $399 Sony or the sub $300 door buster laptop. Also considered getting in line at Staples for the $350 Compaq laptop. Lying in a warm, comfy bed...ordering a great Dell laptop seemed a lot more attractive. Also, by the time I would have spent the $$ on gas getting to my nearest BB, buying coffee, food, and comfort items for camping out in BF lines, I would have spent more money anyway, even if I would have obtained a doorbuster deal. Now I will just get in line closer to opening time at my favorite stores on BF and get those smaller sale items!

Savvy Star, it depends on what you are going to use the laptop for. 1 GB RAM is enough for email, internet, etc. If you are into high CPU usage applications like Gaming, and Video editing, 1 GB may not be enough. But you can always upgrade later. I think 399 is a great deal. My dad just told me he wants one now lol

Ok Guys, Need a few quick answers. You guys have convinced me not to do the line thing for the laptop on Friday at BB. This Dell will be for my 7 year old daughter. It is the only think she has asked for and is really good on the computer, they use them alot at school so I want to hook Santa up with this deal.
Question1) We have Linksys Wireless in our house? What will I need to do to get this one to access it, or does it do it thru the Wi-Fi card that comes with it?

Also, be prepared to answer a few questions about your small business.

What kinds of questions? Is ebay acceptable? Where you ever confirmed? I have only got one email and that one said the order was acknowledged. I don't dare place another one in case they charge me twice. But it's got me worried.

I was told over the phone it has sold out and my original order that was acknowledged but never confirmed did not go through at all. But after I was told it was sold out over the phone I was able to purchase 2 online and have the order confirmed immediately. It now says it's in production with Nov. 29th as the ship date. But apparently they can cancel it at anytime so I won't be surprised if it is. So now I just sit and wait and miss all the BF sales hoping this order won't be cancelled. :(

Hubby ordered me one for Christmas last night :) Its said confirmed around 20 minutes or so after my order, I received acknowledge first then a confirmed at the same time, different email. It shows that they mail the Free Microsoft Office Live Small Business first then the computer is due to be shipped on November 28th with an arrival date of Dec 2-5.

I hope whoever is getting 'my' laptop that I ordered at 8:41 am yesterday (which didn't go through because of a problem on Dell's end) enjoys it! I have never been able to luck out on a really great deal and was really excited about getting this. Wasn't meant to be, I guess.

I also finally received an order confirmation this afternoon, about 36 hours after I initially made the order. I also chatted with 4 representatives (from India, of course) as well, so I'm not sure exactly if that had anything to do with it.
