View Full Version : Thanksgiving Coupons
xfountaingrl 11-16-2007, 11:40 AM I need some help. My boyfriend and I are holding Thanksgiving this year for his mother and one other person. We are on a tight budget, and his mother is not giving us any money to buy some of the food (besides her bringing one thing over.. which I am already upset about). I need some good coupons for the normal Thanksgiving foods. I have a whole shopping list which I plan to do this weekend, but I would love to save some money. Any help is great. Thanks!
most of the normal things will have really good sales... what good stuff do you want? you may have to spend more and buy more than you need to be able to use coupons (chicken stock and cranberry sauce are usually a discount off of 2 or more)
hopeky94 11-16-2007, 12:04 PM I'm sure I've seen coupons out for Stovetop stuffing and Swanson chicken broth. I'm PM'ing some other info to you! :D
LoveNcMountains 11-16-2007, 12:21 PM If you can find a place that sells the sunday paper, there were a lot of coupons in there for typical Thanksgiving items, including turkey coupons.
flgal76 11-16-2007, 12:26 PM There is a printable coupon for Stove Top Stuffing if you get it at SuperTarget it is on sale right now for 79cents with the 50 cents off coupon it ends up being 29 cents a box. I used 3 coupons last night all together got each box for 29 cents. You can't beat that!
xfountaingrl 11-16-2007, 3:34 PM Wow, thats a great deal on the StoveTop.... however, the MIL, well not technically, but close enough to MIL, wants specific brands.. Thats why I am upset that she is not giving money etc. She might just have to deal with whatever I get. Shes not the one cooking it. lol
mudechevy 11-16-2007, 3:38 PM Oh my! MIL would be cooking her own meal if that were the case here. SOOO glad I don't have a MIL to deal with. :D
This might help you... www.couponmom.com
Rockfordmom 11-16-2007, 3:40 PM Is she going to go through your garbage cans to check which brands you used? Don't let her see any of the packages, have everything already removed from the boxes/cans when she gets there!
Most thanksgiving foods will be on sale this week:)
fairydustcrissy 11-16-2007, 3:57 PM Can you give a list of what you are planning to cook? And maybe even the brands she WANTS ( like RM said...what she doesnt know wont kill her!)
jlr1260 11-16-2007, 4:32 PM The MIL will be a guest in your home. She has no say in what brands you use.
rogerschick 11-16-2007, 4:38 PM Im so thankful I have a wonderful MIL. We go to her house and all the girls bring something with them. Good luck!
xfountaingrl 11-16-2007, 6:17 PM I actually just went to Stop and Shop after work and got a few things on sale.. the sausage she wanted was 3.99 B1G1F and then stuffing was also on sale... so I guess its not too bad. I'm just gonna get whatever brand I feel like for the rest.
Thanks so much everyone
sassercc 11-17-2007, 12:54 AM Remember if you have a walgreens in your area you can use the walgreens coupon with your mfg coupon. There is chicken broth, cranberry sauce, stove top and much more on sale there this week.
shawna6676 11-17-2007, 9:03 AM eegats, i am glad i moved 350 miles away from my MIL!!! if i was there and she told me what brands to buy, i would use the stuffing on her and bake her!!!!:D
sunkay 11-17-2007, 11:23 AM eegats, i am glad i moved 350 miles away from my MIL!!! if i was there and she told me what brands to buy, i would use the stuffing on her and bake her!!!!:D
Oh my Shawna THANKS so much for the GRRRREAT Chuckle today. I needed that one.
Oh, BTW, if you CANNOT find the sunday paper, CALL their OFFICE or BETTER YET... GO THERE - HERE we are able to go in and request the coupons that come out in the sunday papers as the Carriers take them OUT of the curbside bins b/c of too much theft otherwise. So, if we buy a paper in their boxes, we have to go to the office to pick up the INSERTS, but this week will be so worth the trip, though. And, they won't charge you just for those inserts.
GOOD LUCK, my "Technical MIL" was down here visiiting last Thanksgiving, but she cooked the meal at the hotel room where they were staying. PHEW...... I lucked out. LOL
HAPPY HOLIDAYS one and all
annfmeyer 11-17-2007, 10:05 PM You can also use Target coupons with the mf coupons. Try also going directly to the product sites...ie, The Libby site for pumpkin pie stuff, or Green Giant for veggies...etc
Couponsurfer.com couponbug.com,wow-coupons.com,printable-coupons.blogspot.com, printablecoupon.com, mysavings.com, and coupons.com. Start with those. I will see if I can see some store deals I have the adds for tomorrow..
In the meantime maybe your mother-in-law needs to be reminded that Thanksgiving is about being Grateful:D
annfmeyer 11-17-2007, 10:06 PM Do you have a Jewel-Osco near you?
annfmeyer 11-17-2007, 10:40 PM If you go to the Supertarget.com site you can print several coupons for items like stove top stuffing .75 cents off and if you can find a mf coupon you would get it for next to nothing, they also have things like sour cream, I can't believe it's not butter, and other things you may need for dinner. The Super Target coupons work a regular Target's too. I would also suggest a dollar store for things like gravey, canned veggies, and things like that.
I save a ton on things like non brand frozen veggies....even you MIL can't tell the difference with that.
Also you must have an Aldi not too far from you. In their flyer that starts tomorrow the have Butterball turkeys (name brand)for .89/lb I have seen some stores in my area as low as .59/lb on turkeys, but they were not Butterball...I just don't know what stores are around you. Although, Aldi does not take mf coupons....there are many of their items that are "off" brands, but are a great value and tast great too.
Good Luck!!!!!
xfountaingrl 11-19-2007, 5:00 PM Thank you everyone for the great advice. Im going to go out and get a few more things tonight with the coupons!!
Thanks again :D
Marian2007 11-20-2007, 3:10 PM Check Dollar tree and Big Lots. They often overstock at this time of year,so these stores get the overflow, and at rock bottom prices!
HAnderson 11-20-2007, 3:43 PM If the brands are that important to her i would tell she either needed to pitch in with cost or butt out. Im lucky though i have a very frugal mil so brands dont mean much to her. And if there is a meal to be cooked she usually will either buy or cook.
