Has anyone else had this experience.
I order multiple coupons off the net. These are legit, and already cut.
When an item goes on sale, I will buy a few of the items, and use a coupon for each item.
At my last trip to Giant, I found out that they will only double the 1st coupon for the 1st item, and will only give me face value for all the other coupons.
The store regularly doubles coupons and even on ocassion will triple.
When I questioned the cashier, she said they have been doing this for years.
Now granted, I stopped shopping at Giant for the past 2 years since we moved to an area that didn't have a Giant.
Can someone clarify this for me?????

Usually the stores have thier coupon policies posted somewhere. I thought I remember reading a post that was similar about them only doubling the first coupon when multiples are used.
The stores come up with these policies because they only get reimbursed for the face value of the coupons. If they double or triple that is coming off thier profits, so I can understand why they would do that.
I have noticed that the stores here will have the policies posted but a lot of times it is up to the cashier to enforce them, the computer doesn't always catch it, and the employees aren't paid to care.
So I wonder if you had a coupon with a different UPC on it for 2 like items if it would double both or still just the one.
Here, Harris Teeter claims they will only take 2 internet coupons per order, but it is up to the cashier to enforce it since the computer can't tell the difference.

I just found out that when they triple coupons they will only triple a certain item once....example if I had two coupons for Soy milk they would only triple one.
I didn't know about the doubling thing......but have to admit I never checked...just assumed they doubled them all.

I always shopped at Giant and never heard of that before. But then again I really never paid attention too much either since i usually have a bunch of coupons. I will be sure to watch next time. That don't seem fair to do that either. I always thought they doubled up to a dollar no matter what.

Neighbor to your North in Schuylkill County!
I shop Giant frequently and they have had this policy for years HOWEVER have only recently (maybe the last year or so) cracked down on it. I believe they got new software that can detect the use of the same coupon.
The only way around this is multiple purchases at different times.

Hey there - I just moved back to Berks from Schuylkill County. While I lived there (we lived in Schuylkill Haven), I shopped at the new Redners on 61. I loved that store, and the employees, but don't care for any of the Redners here. Now, Redners doesn't even double their coupons- but they have much better prices...
And I can't find any store that will accept an internet coupon...

I shopped at Giant this morning and used two .50 off Arm$Hammer laundry detergents on sale for 2/$5.00 and both coupons doubled to $1.00 off of each making them 2/$3.00. I may have something to do with your area. I'm stomped.

I have a Martins which is owned by giant and they only double the first one. They started this a couple of years ago. If it's really good I go to the u-scan and ring them up separately.:smirk: I'm sure they'll come up with something to stop that too. I understand it comes off their profits but if I were to go back into the store in a separate trip it would double, so what's the difference? Man, about 5 years ago they had a week where they doubled $1 coupons and I was in heaven! Wish they'd do that again, even once a year!
