Story line..

I go to Sears to get a toaster over.

I have a Premier Sears CC.

Pull out my CC and the cashier asked if I would like to upgrade it to a Sears Gold MasterCard.

I explained that Sears just mailed a letter sayin' they were in the process of doin that themselves, only if I said not to, it slipped my mind, never told them not to

Cashier says he can do it for me (I guess he gets a commission huh) and save me $15 on the oven, I said sure. They've been buggin me for years about that Gold card, no biggie I thought since I still didn't get the new Gold card, figured the info would just cross paths and it would be put on my card that was bein upgraded

I get the new card a few days later, goto register or setup my online access, notice old Premier card still there. So I called and asked why. Dude explains I now have TWO CREDIT CARDS.

I picked a bad time to save $15 I guess, cuz it seems Sears has already upgraded my old Premier card to, should arrive any day I guess

Question is, what to do, if anything? I don't need to have two lines of credit showin up there. Both have no balance which is a good thing, paid toaster oven off already. Over-reactin? Or should I cancel that most recent card?

First I would send a detailed letter to Sears credit explaining what happened and asking about your TWO credit accounts.

What are the limits, interest rates and any annual fees? I believe Sears "points" card has a $25 annual fee, but I could be wrong.

After receiving all the facts I would definitely cancel whichever cc has the higher rate or an annual fee.
