View Full Version : This Poll is for Light Cargo Train Riders ONLY!!
DramaQueenLucy 10-3-2007, 8:03 AM Well the postal rates have changed and now they are charging for the thickness of the envelope as well as the weight of it...
So we have three choices here, please pick the one that would work best for you and we will figure out what way to go with the trains...
Please Post once you have voted
Rockfordmom 10-3-2007, 8:43 AM 1 oz isn't enough coupons to make it worthwhile. If you make it heavier you have to use a heavy duty or padded envelope or the automatic sorting machines rip them open and they get "lost" in the mail. That is why they went to a heavy duty train because it kept happening. Are you talking about making all of the trains heavy cargo trains?

No just trying to figure out how people want it because of the added postage now. I myself would like to stay at what we are at but I would need to find out how much it would be to mail each envie from this new "thickness" thing the PO has.

Actually, I started up the Heavy Cargo train because I had tons of extra coupons and I asked if anyone would be interested in more coupons in one shot... I started it before the postage increase/thickness charges.
Marcster 10-3-2007, 9:58 AM I had a thought...
A switch to a 6"x9" envelope would allow you to spread the thickness of the coupons across more surface area, and may get you by on the thickness limitation.
Of course, a 6"x9" weighs a little more than a #10 so it would take a little away from the coupons you could stuff in it.

sneakers1234 10-3-2007, 10:05 AM Thicker, better envelope fine by me... as long as that's the real reason so many trains have been lost. I always have a ton of non-insert coupons to share (am a real eagle eye in stores) Let's not stuff them with dups and laxatives and nexium, though.
On the other hand, larger may pose a problem to those that live in rural areas, harder for them to get it stamps/have it weighed and then it gets returned for postage!

kasha0601 10-3-2007, 10:44 AM One more thing I wanted to bring is the 2 pages of rules and addresses. All right we can keep page with addresses but if You need to check the rules You can always go online. It's just one page but I checked on my scale it weights 1/8 oz, and equals 12 coupons.

I only have one page with the addresses and rules on it please PM me your e-mail and I will send it to you.
I do not care . I always bring it in and have her weigh it and then I also have her slid it threw the slot thing she has. It is to thick I go with the heavery weight. I am not sure what the normal price of postage is for these. The lst 2 times they cost me 97 cents to mail out.
kieransmummy 10-3-2007, 12:26 PM I don't mind, I am quite happy to go with whatever.
DramaQueenLucy 10-3-2007, 12:51 PM I am going to see how this poll plays out but I am leaning towards...keeping it at the 2 oz using the 6"X9" envelope to spread the coupons out more and that should make them go through the PO with less hassle. The problem comes in when we have to many in there and it doesn't slip threw the slot thing I am looking on line to see if I can find a template or some thing.
Found one

Make your own!
Take a piece of cardboard, measure 1/4" wide for the opening, extend those lines, cut out a slot that's a 1/4" opening.
