When I was in Harris Teeter today I was chatting it up with the cashier. She was telling me how this one customer she had took a coupon class for $10.00. I was just wondering if anyone has been to a coupon class, to explain what exactly they teach. Other than where to find coupons, knowing to use coupons with deals from stores and filing coupons what else is there really to teach someone? Seems like it might be more of a common sense thing? Am I missing something? Or is it just like the "Ebay" classes? You pay someone to tell you what you could have found out for free through other resources like THE INTERNET. With all the articles in print and on the internet why would I pay someone $10 to sit in a class?

I think many of us have given couponing classes... and they are usually free at Agencies that assist those with family resources.

I always try to show people the best way to use coupons. It's time consuming and you have to do alot of research to get the best deals but well worth it. I guess some people just don't know what to do with their money and will spend the $10. Not me.

I tell people, though I find most of those I tell, don't seem to really care. They probably walk away from me (20 minutes later) saying "sorry I asked"...
Maybe I should start to charge LOL....

Maybe the person who took it was hoping that there was something more to learn...like maybe tricks or something. I don't know. Apparently they've never heard of Gottadeal :)

And I thought I did well with my

Yeah, I've seen those too. Most likely from Target and they are using multiple $5 off 25 PH coupons. I wish I could find some of those.

I think fairydustcrissy teaches a coupon class, I don't know if or how much she charges but she would be a good one to ask. Sometimes they give coupons to the people that take the class (I don't know where I heard that). I think that I do pretty well with coupons when I use $20-$30 worth and then I come here and conj or fairydustcrissy has used like $100+ of coupons, so maybe I could benefit from a class.

hey, if you save $20 a week:

+then ten for a class is worth it.
+then you have an extra $80 a month to play with
+then you earned a pat on the back

That was from Triples today at Harris Teeter. That person lives about 30 mile south from me (guessing from town to town). I thought I did great then this person posted how they saved that much. But then I remember that this person gets 20 sunday papers AND will also buy extra coupons for items they want MORE of. Not sure of what I need 20+ of though I did go through my stuff and found I have about 15 bottles of laundry detergent. I need to stop buying so many things.

Anyways I feel exactly the same...Fairydustcrissy and Kodis97 INSPIRE me...or upset me I am not sure which. Maybe a little bit of both...:D

I do a clas at the local HeadStart for low income families. Its your basics, nothing you guys here dont already know :) I do NOT charge at all, since it is for low income families. I wouldnt have anything against it, but in the venue I use, its just not appropriate. Altho hubby has tried to talk me into teaching a class for a fee, lol. I do give coupons out to people who attend. I also give a printout of websites, including this one of course! If anyone has any questions about classes, feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to share with you guys!

I also teach a class, it's $10 per person and it's through our local community college and commnunity centers. But, I also teach a class to low income familes that's completely free. It amazes me how many people need help with the coupon thing. I love teaching the classes because people can walk out and immediately begin to save money. It's worth the $10 for sure, I save at least $300 a month on coupons! :)

Maybe we should have an online class Coupons 101. Or maybe a series 101, 102, 201, 204. I think some of you gals (and guys) here could give graduate level classes in couponing. You inspire me too. I don't do nearly as well, though I do think there is a relationship between the time you put into it and what you get out of it and time is the thing I am most short on.

Well I don't think it is necessary to take any coupon classes. It takes couple weeks to learn how to use them, when and where and You're good. Specially in NJ where most stores double coupons up to .99 cents. And before every big holiday they even triple them. That's why I always keep those coupons (if they have long expiration date) and get all stuff for free ( or nearly free). I consider myself as a big time saver. Every time I go to Shop Rite I spend like $40 for stuff that is worth lets say double. Anybody needs a tips just let me know, coupons are my life.

And by the way whatever brands You're buying on daily bases feel free to email them, say how much You love their products and they will send you bunch of coupons.
