My local Albertsons store no longer accepts internet coupons. Has anyone else found stores that won't take them either?

Edit: These were printed from the Manufacturers websites and had "Manufacturers Coupon" on the top and included all the info that is on clipped or mailed coupons.

Food Lion turned mine down in a not so nice manner. I did get a gift card for complaining, but the manager there told me that all Food Lion's policies are not to accept internet coupons other than those on the Food Lion site. Funny thing is, I had used internet coupons the day before at another Food Lion across town. I think it varies quite a bit from store to store.

My wife was refused the Kmart $5 off a $50 purchase printed from a Kmart email I received just last month. I emailed their corporate, they asked me for my home number...the local store manager called me, and told me to come in for a $10 store credit. They said my email changed their policy on accepting printed coupons...they now will accept Kmart coupons from emails.
I would email corporate to see if you can get something from them.

Was it all printables or maybe the ones you had? I wrote corporate and asked them about printables they sent me an email with there policy and it says the printables have to have certain things for example no freebie ones, must have an address there are other things but dont have it in front of me right now. I say email corporate and ask them I believe its the same at all Albertsons??

I was told no internet coupons. The ones I have are for General Mills, Nestle, and Unilever, a few different products from each. All Manufacturers Coupons. I had used the Scott's coupons a couple of weeks ago with no problem.
I know there is two branches, Albertsons and Albertsons Markets, my local is the second. So a couple of letters are in order.

My local Woodman's (groceries)store will not accept internet coupons. Very frustrating. If their prices weren't so much cheaper I would go elsewhere.

At my walmart I was told "if it scans we take it, if it won't scan we can't" And that includes ANY coupon, internet or not. I have had it not take a Progresso internet coupon but it took my Horizons milk internet coupon. At that Walmart when I was told that the FIRST person said we don't take them, then another person walked over and said what I quoted above. I was in the Self service line too, because I had read on here that that was what someone else did.
I also read the Lowes Foods policy and thiers is the same. If it scans they will take it. And to me the sounds fair enough.

Here in Kansas, no Walmart or Price Chopper (groceries) will take internet coupons. They will only take the one that come out in the paper. What are we supposed to do now?

You might try emailing the companies of the coupons you really want and tell them that your stores in your area won't accept internet coupons and could they send you one (some) in the mail.

Copied this from another thread about Wal-Mart and Internet coupons. Feel free to print this off and take with you to Wal-Mart.

Here's the link to Wal-Mart's coupon policy… and the walmartfacts.com website is linked on the WalMart.com website, as it is an official Wal-Mart website too!

http://www.walmartfacts.com/search/d...srchtxt=coupon

And the below info came from a Q&A post on the same couponing message board where I found the link above:

Q. Does Wal-Mart accept internet printables?
A. (Source was an email sent to me by a friend long time ago... this was Wal-Mart's email back to her)
Quote:
Wal-Mart Stores can accept coupons that are available on the internet for customers to print from their home computers. The following are guidelines for the stores for accepting internet coupons:
- The coupon should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon". There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer, to ensure the coupon can be processed for payment.
- The coupon should have a scan-able bar code.
- The coupon should have an expiration date.
- The coupon cannot be a photocopy.
- The limit is one coupon per item, per Customer.
- A Salaried Manager can refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet any or all of these guidelines.

Q. Coupons that start with the number 9..why do they beep?
A. The answer is not clear WHY they beep, but I can tell you that Wal-Mart's registers are programmed to beep and not accept coupons that start with a 9 (9 being the first number in the barcode on a coupon... this usually has to do with doubling, so don't ask me why they beep at Wal-Mart!) So watch your blinkies and other coupons for the dreaded "9s". The cashiers CAN override, but they are hesitant to do so... be prepared for a fight.

Q. What should I bring with me besides my money and my coupons?
A. Here are some things you MAY want to consider bringing along if your Wal-Mart is one that tends to give you hassles over coupons.
1. Your cell phone pre-programmed with corp. number.
2. The name of your store manager so that you can throw it around when you tell the cashier that "Scott So-And-So" the store manager said yes... you can override the coupon
3. Examples of coupons that say "One per purchase", "One per transaction or store visit" and "One per customer". This may be helpful when they think you can only use one coupon because it says one per purchase.
4. A prepared schpeil on what 'Do Not Double' means...because some cashier think double coupons means using more than one coupon per transaction.
5. Comfy shoes... you may be waiting awhile.
6. Your patience... you may need it!

I think your right about contacting the companies that are offering the coupons. They are the ones who the store owners will listen too. I for one am eMailing manufactures to ask why do they bother if stores won't accept them. Because I like their products and buy them regularly
OMG does that make me an activist? Nah lol

This is part of the email I recieved from Albertsons.

Recently there has been increased fraudulent activity with regard to internet coupons for "free product." Albertsons, as well as various other retailers, have experienced multiple instances of this "free product" coupon fraud in several areas across the country. In response to this illegal activity, Albertsons has changed the internet coupon acceptance policy.

Albertsons does not accept internet coupons for free product. All stores, in all divisions (including Shaw's), have been informed of this change. Albertsons does not yet know the extent of the illegal activity nationwide, however they are working with the FMI (Food Manufacturing Institute), GMA (Grocery Manufacturers of America) and CIC (Coupon Information Corporation) to investigate the situation.

Several of our stores have made the independent decision for their own protection, to no longer accept coupons printed from the internet. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

I have found that sometimes Wal-mart takes them and sometimes they don't. I have been turned down on coupon usage more for non-internet coupons than I have for ones I have printed from the internet. So I just don't take them there anymore. But I am very lucky so far because my local grocery store has not turned down a coupon for me yet and they double up to $1, which Wal-mart does not do.

i called toys r us to find out if they would take some coupons that i had manufacturers coupons from MB games and they told me they don't take any coupons other then their own.

this is why i prefer Manufacturers coupons. i've always been worried about using printed coupons and getting to the register and being told they don't take them.

The clerk at Walmart asked me if my coupons were computer generated, and I said I Don't know! so they took it. I think it depends on the cashier, after all most of them are public school educated! Nuf said!

why won't they take regular manufacturers coupons? are you trying to use expireds or ones not for the correct product/size? they shouldn't refuse coupons from the paper???

I think the clerks misunderstand or only half listen. I think they are told "If it scans we take it." I was at the self checkout, the first time I tried to use the internet coupons, for fear of them saying they don't take them. I scanned the first couple of coupons with no problem but when I went and put them in the slot it didn't sense it had been put in, so the clerk came over to see what the problem was. SHe then said we don't accept internet coupons. Then a CSM came over to help with the coupon sensor and she said "We accept them if they scan."
I also read at Lowes Foods (on thier website) that they will accept internet coupons as long as they scan. However I have had them not scan and the line manager key them in.
Harris Teeters policy is to only accept 2 per order...which most cashiers don't know. I have used several in one order with no problem. The scanner cant' tell the difference between an internet coupon and a regular coupon.

Stores do that because allot of the printed coupons are fake and cost that store a bunch of money. It is stealing if they are fake and you can twist it either way you want but it still will be stealing.
If most people knew how much money stores lost a year over people using fake coupons, damaging product, leaving a refrigerated item out when you decide you dont want it, stealing, etc... you might get a lower bill if people had a brain.

I have been using them at WalMart and Price Chopper for over a year now with no problems. In fact at the Price Chopper Web Site they have imternet coupons you can print and use at their stores or any other store.

If the coupon code starts with a 9 it usually does not scan.
