I like the colored lights. I don't think I will ever have a grown up tree.

definatly colored, white is just so bland, now the question remains.... multi colored or one solid color. i've found purple or blue on some trees look nice, but i've always gone multi

i LOVE white lights! I think all the color of the ornaments looks nice against the white lights, plus i think the white lights give a classy/classic look to a tree.

I prefer colored but my dh prefers white only so that is what we do. White on the tree, white on the house. I do add some multi's to the yard decor though.

I prefer white lights but hubby likes colored. So we do colored on the tree and white on the house and in the yard.

I like multicolored on the tree but will use solid color around the windows.

Both. we have 5 trees, the 3 smallest ones have while lights while the 2 larger ones, including the main tree in the living room have colored lights. we used colored lights on the stair case banister and around inside the kids bedroom. We use mostly white lights outside but do mix in some color lights too.

I like white. Last year I bought an artificial tree (wal mart) with colored lights already on it, and the stupid thing had pink, orange, green and blue. Who the heck wants pink in there along with the other colors? I could see pink and white, or blue and white --but not pink with all the others. I just didn't want to undo it all and take it back, otherwise I would have. Next time, I'll have to plug in the lights before I bend out all the branches...

Mostly white, dh spruced things up last year and added blue last year. It was a nice added color.

I alternate between mutli colored and white. I also have a ceramic 2 feet table top tree that my grandma made when I was little. It has blue birds and a star top that light up.

All white and lots of them. Outside is all in white as well, a huge wreath in red lights hangs from the house. I also have red and white light up candy canes that goes across the front lawn. I also put red and white lights up in my holly berry tree. Sorry, this was suppose to be about my tree but I kind of got excited lol

We do all white lights outside. Although, we have 'talked about' changing it up this year. But, I think we're going to stick with the white ones, like normal...

I have white lights now, but I like the multi-colors as well. The nice thing about the white ones though is they don't overpower the colors of the ornaments ( and I have overload on ornaments). I'm trying to figure out whether to do white or multi-color if I do the tree outside this year!

My DH decorates outside with multi-colored and most of the trees inside are in multi-colored. One tree is decorated in purple and gold, and it has all purple lights. My daughter has a purple tinsel tree for her room with purple lights, and my son has a matching blue one for his room with blue lights. Before we had kids we had all blue lights, but then the kids wanted colored ones so we switched (actually now we have 2 trees and the smaller one is the way I like it)

wonder if that is a MA thing? We have a prelit tree with all white and we add the multi colored strings to it. I definitley like the gingerbread house effected the colored lights give.

We're all white lights at our house except for one strand around the center of one tree, that's red. I am liking the idea of all white lights with some bigger, colored lights on the outside of the tree, tho.

If DH had his way, the lights would look like they were choking the tree, you wouldn't see any actual branches, just outlines of them covered in wires. :yup:

All colored lights. I can't stand for my tree to blink either. I want it lit all the time. For the blinking, I use motion lights around the ceiling in my living room.

I'm all about colored lights...and I'm not one that likes for a tree to blink either...that just drives me nuts...:)

I LOOOOOVE COLORED!!! Me and my BF have a fight every christmas on which one. We have kids so... I win!!! Last year was first year we put lights on the house and it was awesome its brick on the front so it looked like a gingerbread house. I love to see them blink to, I guess I'm a kid at heart and LOVE christmas decor.:holiday01

We did! I have a small travel-themed tree in our guest bathroom. I use all of the ornaments that we've collected on vacations on that tree. It makes it a little easier when traveling to know exactly what kind of souvenir I'm going to get, and ornaments take up less space than t-shirts! :)

we tried colored on the tree, and it seemed too dark, I ran clear up the middle to brighten it up from the inside. I use double the amount of lights that year...ggrr

Both! My dad always used multi-colored lights,mixed with white twinkle lights, on our tree.And I still do it today,and always will.It is a family tradition.

Always colored lights, have a tree now with the lights already on it, so no changing them. I have done a second tree before and put all white lights on it.

I like white. Someone else posted below that "white is grown up." I think that says it best. I think (remember, this is just MY OPINION) that colored lights are more for kids. Around here, all of the ritzy neighborhoods use white ONLY. And, I think it is classy looking. It also matters HOW you put them up. Nothing bugs me more than someone who just "throws" a string of lights into an outdoor tree!!! AAGGHH!!! You HAVE TO go the extra length and "wind" the string of lights AROUND the tree!!! Please!!

Speaking of lights, I have a great tip for putting lights on trees.....

Instead of running them around and around the tree, put them on up and down. They look exactly the same and it's so much easier to put them on and take them off the tree.

Also, if you have a strand that goes out, you can stand in one place to replace it instead of having to walk around and around the tree.

Last year I did several strands of white and several strands of purple.

Colored all the way... && they have to be multi colored. I have a tree in every room as well. I have a ceramic one for the kitchen table, A small 2ft one in our room and a 3 foot one in the boys room. I bought one this year that has a train run through it and will put that in the center of my village. Outside I do colored all over!!

Definately colored here. Although I so use white lights as accent lights around the house. But color rules the tree. We might have white snowflake lights for the house- I bought a bunch last year on clearance, just can't remember what color they are. lol

I like colored and white lights, but last year at Target's after Christmas sale I got the most beautiful white crystal ball ones that I am totally hooked.:)

I like either white, or colored, NEVER multicolored. But I do have a soft spot for the ginormous multicolored lights that EVERYONE had when I was a kid in the seventies. It was a big deal to decorate outside then. We were the only family for blocks around that did it and it made us feel special! hehe

We solved our great "White vs Multi Colored" debate last year. Hubby likes the colored lights, I like white. For many years we had only white lights since I was the one decorating the tree. Well last year we bought one of those prelit trees that has both white and colored lights on it. So you can have one or the other or both! Now everyone is happy!

I do both white and multi I'm with the 1st post I will probally never have a "grown up" tree.

i'm ultra snooty about my living room tree - i have white lights, different sized red and gold bulbs and a fancy gold satin tree skirt - it looks like a magazine tree and i'm happily obsessed with making it look that way every year ;-)

in our family room i have a fake tree where i put all the novelty ornaments - last year i bought a bunch of gold and blue ornaments at 90% off though so i'm using white and blue and yellow lights and having a WVU tree :-) (proud alumnus)

I have hundreds of multi colored lights and then wonderful bubble lights. When I was a child my favorite Aunt had bubble lights on her tree. I always knew when I had a tree of my own it would have bubble lights too.

I am also obsessed with making it look perfect. we have another tree in our sunroom that we let the kids do their thing on, usually with colored lights and all their homemade ornaments. It also looks really nice and lets us showcase their beautiful artwork!

It depends on my mood the day I put up the tree.

I used to do every other year colored or white, but now that I have kids, I've had Colored every year for the last 5 years.

See, before I had kids, I had bought a "theme" of the sun, moon, and stars, and everything was blue and gold, and the white lights were a must.

I overall prefer colored lights, but since I spent a small fortune on the themed tree, I put that up every other year.

I can't really forsee using the themed tree anymore, unless someday, I have a bigger house and am crazy enough to do TWO TREES!!!!!! Oy-yoy-yoy!

Both! We have four trees we light each year and all are either multi or a mix of color and white. Our white tree has white lights wrapped around the trunk while multcolor lights adorn the branches. The lit trunk brightens the tree to the point of looking angelic! Also, I love combining white lights with gold/yellow or red. One of my small trees is a mixture of twinkling white mini lights blended with red mini lights, with gold, silver, bronze and red decorations. Gorgeous!

We also have both! Two trees -- formal one in LR w/ white lights and gold ornaments. Family tree w/ the kids ornaments and homemade ones etc and colored lights.

My family does 3 trees -
Mine has 1000 clear bulds and I have added a string of 200 blue, it looks amazinganother tree is all clear and the third tree is what we call "his", it"s a sad Charlie Brown tree every year (yes, on purpose) with horrible multi-colored lights falling and drooping all over it.
