View Full Version : What do you do the night of Christmas???
nedsw33 8-30-2007, 8:57 AM I'm sure alot of you just sit around and relax or play with your new gadgets on Christmas night, but what do you others do?
Me and two of my friends started Christmas night bowling about 8yrs ago and it's become a huge tradition with us all. Nowadays, each year about 15 people show up on the night of the 25th at the same bowling alley. It's pretty fun, get to talk about everyone's day and what they got. Can't wait till this year!!!
dmmiller 8-30-2007, 9:05 AM wow, i'm surprised there are any alley's open that night.
We usually just sit around being bored, but that sounds like fun. :)
pastasalad 8-30-2007, 9:14 AM sometimes we go see a movie-but usually I am trying to find spots for everthing that everyone got-I "try" and restore the order in the kids rooms which by this point look like disaster areas.
shawna6676 8-30-2007, 9:34 AM wrap the last of the presents...cook half the night!!!
doublehsmom 8-30-2007, 10:14 AM I'm cleaning everything up for the next day because of all the day care kids that will be coming..
Marcster 8-30-2007, 10:18 AM wrap the last of the presents...cook half the night!!!
I think the OP means 12/25's evening, -not- Christmas Eve.
droolbug2 8-30-2007, 12:22 PM I spend time with my 3 best friends. They bring presents for my boys and we give them theirs. We usually have a few cocktails and watch the kids play with their new things. It's my favorite part of the day after watching the kids first thing in the morning. (nothing beats the look on their faces when they 1st see all that Santa has left) My hubby usually cooks something good for us to eat too.
shopping mom 8-30-2007, 12:47 PM We just relax and I try to spend time with each child looking at their new things and making sure they are happy. I don't cook but I have ham rolls, cheeses, chip and dips, homemade cookies and other finger foods prepared ahead of time that we eat throughout the day.
berry1014 8-30-2007, 12:51 PM We have 2 small kids so we stay home. We host Christmas dinner and do not eat until at least 5 pm so we usually still have a house full until late Christmas night so we will all sit around watching a new movie or two or playing a new board game that someone got.
Stowasser 8-30-2007, 1:03 PM Collapse! LOL
We just mellow out, it is so hectic up to Christmas morning, I am exhausted and love just hanging around and playing with the kids. We eat around 1 (parents choice, I would prefer later in the day) so everything is done by about 2 ish.....
love a deal 8-30-2007, 1:05 PM CLEAN~EAT~OPEN TOYS~EAT SOME MORE~:gdsleep:

wyntyrose 8-30-2007, 1:35 PM Watch movies on the tv, watch the kids play with toys and eat usually meat, cheese and cracker veggie trays
jarerice 8-30-2007, 1:37 PM We eat and play with all of the toys!!!!
nedsw33 8-30-2007, 1:56 PM I think the OP means 12/25's evening, -not- Christmas Eve.
Yeah, I was referring to the actual Night of Christmas (12/25) itself. After you're finished with all your Christmas activities.
brynnfromtheblock 8-30-2007, 7:50 PM Clean the house!!
sns128 8-30-2007, 10:50 PM As little as I can get away with lol
DealFreak05 8-31-2007, 1:34 AM Christmas Night - nothing really, except for checking out the specs on my gifts. :D
cleverbffool 8-31-2007, 3:09 PM Once I clean up and finally sit I try to relax but I always get a sinking feeling when the radio changes back to normal music. It is kinda like a reality check that it is finally over.
hwolf6330 8-31-2007, 6:08 PM I'm cleaning everything up for the next day because of all the day care kids that will be coming..
I do daycare too. This year and every year after I will be taking the day after Christmas off. I am usually so tired from everything I feel I need an extra day. It also gives my kids some quiet time too without extra kids running around. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about being able to go to the after-christmas sales!
Rest -- I have to get up early for day after 50% off Christmas sales.
6digmans 9-2-2007, 12:27 AM This year my house will be quite and clean and that is because we will be .... in WDW!!!!!!!!!!!
We will be in florida from 12/18-26th on Xmas Eve we eat at Cinderellas castle breakfast and go to Hoop Dee Doo for dinner and Xmas day we will be in the parks all day lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and dinner at Crystal Palace!
We have never been at Xmas and we know it will be crowded but we will still have fun just be cause we are together. Kids know they are getting the trip so not getting to many gifts under the tree and Santa still needs to show up too.
Sleep, eat, watch a movie. Hmmmmmmm sounds like everynight of the week for me lol
guilliam 9-2-2007, 8:26 AM After we get back from my parents house, dh and I relax while kids play with their new goodies:) we help the little one with anyhting he needs help with.
And... I plan the next morning of after xmas sales shopping!!!
I have a large extended family, usually the younger adults take the children out to the movies. While the older family visits a bit more talking, watching a dvd, and/or playing a board game.
Once hubby and I arrive home we clean up the mess we tend to make earlier in the day getting ready to visit friends and family that will not be at our family dinner later in the afternoon.
Then I to set my mind on after Christmas sales the next day or later that morning since we never get home until after 1AM.
If I'm in CT we go to the movies, and then I sleep over at my mom's with my sisters and we make our lists of where we are going shopping the next day.
If we are in NJ with my boyfriends family, we just hang out, eat, look at our stuff, and then C and I make our lists of where we want to go the next day.
I forgot to add, that before we meet our friends for bowling, we usually go out with my wife's family and hit up an early evening movie. It's kind of a tradition with her fam.
tokanm 10-14-2007, 9:09 PM We open our Christmas stockings on Christmas night before bed. The kids always
would complain that after they opened their gifts Christmas was "over" so for
about the past 15 years or so..we have Christmas day and of course open presents
in the am and eat etc but at night we open our stockings, one by one, slowly
and then we know that Christmas is truly over. It always has given the kids something
to look forward too..maybe candy..maybe a cd..maybe a scratch ticket...I try to
make it new and different each year, maybe a theme, all music or all games or
all food..it varies.
toninjack 10-14-2007, 9:12 PM Plan my shopping day for the next day. Time to start my 2008 Christmas shopping. :D
Turtle Mommy 10-15-2007, 10:47 AM We clean up the mess and then relax while the kids are enjoying their new gifts.
coleman4905 10-24-2007, 8:51 PM Relax,..i have it nice the in laws live right next door and me and the mom in law get along great,..shes my BF buddy,..haha so the kids run back and forth eating and playing,..;)
elena_398 10-24-2007, 10:31 PM We always go to church. Have a nice dinner. Early showers/baths. Then we watch A Christmas story on TBS (they have a marathon every year starting on christmas eve). After that the kids get put to bed. My husband and I usually watch some more tv then put the gifts out.
bugsette 10-25-2007, 6:40 PM well we have family that starts coming over about 2PM and they don't leave until about 11PM
pmdemey 10-26-2007, 7:48 AM If I get too bored I`ll take down all the x-mas related stuff and rearrange the snowmen.
satidwell 10-26-2007, 8:19 AM Well lets see it depends on our mood sometimes we just sit around all day and eat leftovers and my parents come over sometimes we go to my parents and others not very often though we go to my in laws. But for the most part just sit around and watch tv.
chilimak 10-26-2007, 11:07 PM We usually have my bil and his 2 kids over for Christmas dinner late in the afternoon. My kids show their cousins all their stuff. After dinner, bil usually goes home (2 doors away) and his kids stay for a while and play with my kids. Around 7 pm we all go over to bil's house and have pie there (we are always too stuffed from dinner to have desert right after dinner, so we wait a couple hours). Then, my niece and nephew show off their gifts and the kids play for a while and we just hang out and relax. It makes for a nice relaxing evening after the craziness of Christmas eve and Christmas day.

wagleg 10-29-2007, 9:28 AM We hop in the car and go look at Christmas lights. It's quiet and beautiful.
conleybunch 10-29-2007, 8:54 PM The kids play with their new toys or watch Christmas movie or both. The adults play a board game, play cards or watch a Christmas movie. Then its rest and plan for my Dad' birthday which is the day after Christmas.:2party:
kieransmummy 10-29-2007, 10:02 PM Not much, watch a movie, eat candy, drink, crash out. It's only us in this country so we never have anywhere else to go.
Jen198 10-30-2007, 9:46 AM Hello All!!
I am new to this site. My hubby and I open our xmas gifts to each other xmas night...it's our tradition. Since we are always running around all day to his family's houses and my family, seems every year we don't get home til 11pm or later. :eyepoppin
leefamily23 10-30-2007, 10:25 AM For us it depends on what we do that day. Sometimes my husband's family has a get together that will last 2 hrs and everyone split's. Other times it goes well into the evening.
We've gone to the movies a few times. But usually we play w/ my son's gifts because he goes w/ his dad at noon- until later that night.
queenki 10-30-2007, 10:33 AM Nothing much, we move all the toys, gagets and clothes up to our rooms and the kids continue to play. I begin the clean up process to get a portion of my house back.
