How many gifts does Santa bring?


We try to keep it to a limit of 4. But it's hard, since DS 9 wants a WII this year. They cost so much. Santa can get DD 3 everything for that price.

I have no idea I don't think that I have ever counted them...but there is always a lot...lol

We lost control several years ago and unfortunately there is no correcting the issue until the truth is out. Santa brings all of the presents and we only buy one shared gift.

Santa brings the big stuff and we buy the little cheaper things.

Santa usually brings 3 or 4 of their gifts and we give the rest. I try to limit each of our sons to around 8 gifts each but it is getting harder. I really try to spend about the same on each of them but with our older son (12) wanting such expensive things its getting tough. I could buy our 4 yr old 3 things to our older's one! This is going to be a tough year to figure out!!

Usually, Santa just brings 1-2 gifts per child. Santa tends to bring THE gift of the year. So, last year, ds5 wanted a doodle monster, since walmart had that sale, AND I had already picked up a doodle monster, ds5 ended up with 3 presents under the tree, 2 doodle dino's and 1 doodle monster. While ds11 only had 1 present, an mp3 player. I don't worry overly much on making the kids gifts = in price for santa presents, because my youngest has no concept of $$ - just how much he wants a certain present.

I do equal out the total amount of money I spend per kid total though. I have to say my youngest tends to have a LOT more presents under the tree than my oldest. But my oldest is savy enough to understand that his presents cost substantially more, so no hurt feelings.

Noone minds here. Everyone is happy round my house on Christmas morning. :D

Oh how I wish I would have started the only 3-4 gifts from Santa thing when My
oldest was a BABY. But unfortunately, we go overboard every year and there is no
room under tree and the gifts go half way out thru the room.

Santa also always has special shiny wrapping paper - so they really stand out against all the other presents.

I'm with you there. I don't know how many gifts we buy but it's just way too many. Our living room always looks like a toy store exploded. This year will be no better. My kids are only 3 though, so I could probably change now.....only problem is I LOVE doing it. I really should cut it down now though, while they're still little and I'm able to.

Santa brings 3 for each child and they are always unwrapped. This year Santa is bringing a Wii which will be for all 3 of the kids and then each child will receive 2 others. They also get some things in their stockings as well.

The rest of the presents are from "Mom and Dad". As my husband likes to say - "You go buck wild at Christmastime and none of it is for me", LOL

Way, way, way tooooo many!!! We have spoiled them and presents are usually everywhere. I wish so much we could change it but, sorry to say, it is too late

Santa will bring 3 gifts... including each of the kids BIG items. We will do the rest. This year, I'm trying to keep the total count of gifts under 20 for each of the kids (NOT including stocking stuffers... lol)! Plus one joint gift...

All our gifts are from Santa also. One year DS10 (7 at the time) asked us where his present was from us. Apparently his friends got from their parents and Santa. I told him that good kids get so much from Santa that the parents don't have to help pay for them. But the naughty boys have to have their parents buy some or they wouldn't get very much. So he went to school all proud that he was the best kid out of all his friends......

But we don't really count money when buying gifts.... with the deals we find it would be totally out of line if we got things at 75% off for one kid and ended up at only 20-30 for another. So we just buy things starting with the after Xmas sales until we know that value wise at least one kid is done. We count that child's gifts and that is how many they each get that year. Usually between 5 and 8, depending on what kinds of deals we find. Stocking gifts are not always the same though. Only DS7 still believes so the others are cool with it but would still get their feelings hurt if someone had more than them.

Of course we do try to make sure they each have 3-4 good size (according to value) gifts but have never put a dollar figure on them. One year 5 gifts each was it (smallest number ever) but that year I did figure retail value and each kid had over 400 dollars in value of gifts and I spent between 30 and 60 on each kid.

Honestly I buy way too much as most of you do lol. But I figure it's Christmas, why not make awesome memories. Lots of presents, family together, lots of food and soooo much love. I try to make it "magical." They are only young once so make it memorable IMO. We have 3 children and they usually end up with 30 or 35 gifts a piece. Santa brings "the big gifts" so maybe santa brings around 10. My kids are 16, 14, and 9. I am sure the older two know the secret but I am not about to tell them. (they asked once long time ago and I said, "are you willing to take a chance and not believe?") lol I ramble on too much but yes, we spend too much, they get too much but I have no regrets. Can't wait until Christmas morning now!!!

Santa keeps dropping off gifts in the attic and he forgets how many is up there. lol

The kids know who santa is now. I guess I'll have to wait for grandkids... hopefully that will be several years from now..lol.

When I was a child he would bring three plus one for me to donate to an organization that gave the items to a woman's shelter. (In case they had to bring children with them when they went to the shelter for safety.)

Hubby and I plan to continue with that if we are blessed with children.

Exactly... I couldn't stand not to have gifts under the tree beforehand. Also, the more there are, the higher the risk of them getting found.

Santa has brought more than one, if it's an accessory thing. Last year was a bow and a archery block, or a gamecube and games.

I usually try to give the kids one big gift from santa unwrapped..and then its a different number every year but santa always gives 2 more gifts than dh and I for each of the kids.

O and I forgot..santa always fills the stockings too my kids both have 2 and then there is always things overflowing it also!

Santa brings each of my kids one gift, the rest are from us. They get probably 10-12 gifts total. I don't worry about keeping the amount that I spend on them the same but they do get the same # of presents.

in my house santa only give to kids 12 and under and its one gift, i give the rest.

Sadly what ever is left that I have not put under the tree lol. Usually at least 3 or 4 things a piece ... they are usually the BIG things too.

Santa brings the big things, that varies by year. Now that my 2 boys are older (10 and 14 by Christmas), the number of things has dwindled... I used to leave all of Santa's things unwrapped (elves don't have time to wrap presents now with all the children in the world), but now I'm starting to wrap them as they are not as big (well this year anyway--they want Zune--last 2 years have been computers and game systems...). Mom and Dad usually give little things and clothes. "Santa" still does their stockings but he no longer does hubbies and mine -we do each others. I want surprises too!!!

Way too many. :rotflol: I get a little, eh ...zealous... when it comes to Santa. I think the last couple of years we got DD everybit of 20-25 presents. This year we have yDD to shop for, too.

Santa alway got credit in my house for everything til the kids got older.

I don't have kids yet, just a niece to spoil! I normally just set a limit to spend and then when I hit that limit thats the number of gifts there are.

Santa used to bring 3-4 when DD & DS were younger but this year he is going to bring one big gift since what we are getting them is going to be so expensive

It is wonderful to see so many Santa traditions. In my house, the presents that are wrapped and under the tree are from mom and dad - I have two boys and they both get a pair of pajamas, an ornament, socks and underwear, and outfit, and a movie. That is from mom and dad and they open it Christmas Eve night.

Santa brings other items that are not wrapped and are under the tree Christmas morning. Actually, they are in a pile beside the tree - a pile for each child. I am not sure how many presents that each get as it varies from year to year, all I can say is that they have the same amount. Each has a big item and several little things. For instance, last year, DS11 got a psp, psp accessories, 3 psp movies, 2 psp games, the large ROBOSapien, 3 or 4 PS2 games and a bunch of other stuff. DS7 got a tv, ps, psp accessories, 3 psp movies, 2 psp games, and 3 or 4 PS2 games and a bunch of other stuff.

In any case, they always get the same amount. I think last year Santa presents were about 400 a child and then mom and dad presents were about 100 a child. I know, I spend WAY TOO Much but I love to spoil them at this time. To top it all off, they go to my moms house for christmas too as SANTA comes to her house as well.

We have the best gift from santa unwrapped under the tree so the kids see it first when they come downstairs, santa does not have room to bring more for each child or other children would not get any. The rest are from mom and dad. This works great for us, we have 6 kids and they just dont need to have so much they dont appreciate, just a few things they really like.

Last year we started a new tradition. The kids get 4 gifts each, and each represent something. They get something to wear, something to eat, something to read and something to play with. Then the family gets one big present that we all decide on. My kids are 8,7 and 3 now. Its cute even now when they are at the store with me and they are trying to figure out what one gift Santa is going to give to them.

I too give the kids way too many gifts, Santa usually gives 12 as for the 12 days of Christmas. Then, they get 3 more gifts from there siblings and Mom & Dad (combined). So, a total of 15 gifts each per child. My kids are 9, 7, and 6. Since, they are getting older - I know soon I'll be cutting back.

Growing up Sanata gave us each 3 and then the rest were from my parents. Now that I have a DD I plan to do the same. Santa also filled our stockings and we would open one present a day from our stocking between Christmas and New Years.

My DH says I go WAY OVER BOARD!!!! I have 6 children the 2 little ones get the most about 15. The older ones gifts cost so much more so They get about 8-10. And of course lots of little stocking stuffers!! My parents go way over board.....they spoil all there grandchildren ("I guess they still like playing Santa") Probably about 10-15 more gifts a piece.
