Traditionally, the actual printed ads come with your newspaper on Thanksgiving Day, however in some areas they will be in the paper on Wednesday or on Black Friday itself. Check with your local newspaper if you need to know the exact date.

Some retailers such as WalMart occasionally distribute their ads sooner, either with the newspaper or in the mail. Some stores have the ads at the actual stores days in advance of Black Friday as well, while others host special "friends and family" events where the ads are first released.

Last year Wal Mart and Best Buy posted there ad a week before on there website.

I'm curious... Do you have to subscribe to the local paper to get an ad?

For some reason, we NEVER get Wal Mart ads any more, and we just had the super store done last year, not 10 minutes from us. It just replaced the old one... Do I have to sign up somehow? Seems like I used to get them, and I used to get email notifications because of shopping, but no ads in the mail. I want them...

We get them in the regular (usually Sunday) paper occassionally but if you sign up online they'll also email them to you.

Wal-mart only puts out an ad every month. Look for them the first of the month.

I remember one year KMart never put out their Thanksgiving day add. They still had a line of people when they opened, but no one knew what was on sale ..

I usually subscribe to the Sunday paper for a 3 month trial in Oct. Nov. & Dec. just so I have the ads.

We live 45 min. from St. Louis. While we have a Target and a Walmart we never get ads like Toys R Us, KB, Sears or any of that. So every Thanksgiving morning my husband drives 1 hour and 1/2 to go get my paper.

We must live close, I live about an hour south of STL.
I think day before Turkey Day I'll have hubby pick up a paper, he usually does on wednesday anyway due to LEt's Eat in STL post Dispatch.
He knows how I love to cook.

I usually get them in the Thanksgiving paper. Walmart's ad usually arrives in the mail the week of Thanksgiving. After what they pulled this year though that ad might end up in the recycle bin!
