Is any one else ready for Black Friday like I am? Or is it just too soon to think about that?

I'm ready for it too. Last year was a bit of a bust for me. Plans didn't work out like I had hoped they would. I'm hoping this year I can plan things out for myself a little bit better and enjoy it more regardless of anyone else's plans.
I'm pretty much already done Christmas shopping, but just being out on Black Friday is a lot of fun for me. So...it's what 19 weeks and 1 day till Black Friday? Let the countdown begin!! lol :D

Ive been thinking the same thing. I really hope they still have the best buy bucks promotion. Or at least something similar since last years rumor was that Best Buy wouldnt be participating this year :( :(

omg Hobby Lobby already has their Fall & Christmas items out! They have lights, ornaments, garland, etc. I was shocked! It's only July!!!

I'm with you on the shopping year round. We have 5 children and 1 grandchild (2 by Christmas this year). It all started when they were little because it was the only way to make sure they got nice gifts like their friends but on our budget. Now I Christmas and birthday shop year round. We do draw names at Christmas with DH family but that still leaves us with 4 kids gifts to buy and then we do go to all of our neices and nephews birthday parties so if we buy it for Christmas and don't draw their name, there is always a birthday coming from someone.

I have one closet dedicated to good deals and nothing else is allowed in there except wrapping paper and gift bags! Glad it's not just me!!!!

Same here. People at work laugh at me because of my priority of the days I request off for vacation. You can count on me to be on vacation the first week of July for the race in Daytona, and BF. The rest of the year I really don't care about. This year I also requested the day after Christmas, only because we're closed Christmas, I was scheduled the 26th, then off 27th and 28th. So it'll be a 4 day weekend for me. :D

I am soooooo ready for BF! I have stockpiled up on a lot of gifts already that I have found on sale for the in-laws and friends. I mostly shop for my family on BF. I will gather them up, request the christmas wish list, then hit the sales flyers to plan out my route for shopping. The route is planned according to what items are a "must" have and the times that certain stores open. My family thinks I am a WACKO about shopping on BF, but I can't help myself. :D And for those who can not make it out on BF, remember there is always Cyber Monday. Cyber monday seems to be getting better each year and usually there is free shipping for most products on this day.

When I took this job, on of my questions for my employer was Is Black Friday a paid holiday. She said do you want it to be and I said yes so she agreed!! Since going back to work full time I am feeling shopping deprived!! I have been putting money away for BF though and I am not touching it till then.

it totally is! you have your playbook (binder), your stratagy, your team all with assigned positions...sometimes even an accross the field throw if a cabbage patch or 2! and of course your uniform and protective gear (hand and feet warmers) I just have to remember to take off on Saturday because I always have this migraine when the adrenaline wears off!

I called Mcdonalds Corp. and asked if they had an idea when the game would start(hoping they'd give me details) and the young lady put me on hold and came back and said her supervisor said it's a little too early, but there will be a game and the date is up in the air for now.

I just found out that I can't get off work for BF. Hopefully, I can get the majority done by 8:00 am since I have to be at work at 8:30. This will be the 1st time in years that I won't be participating all day in BF (my mom, my sisters, and myself usually shop til we drop). I guess I can always check for some things online too. Black Friday last year took me a whole hour! took post it notes and wrote down prices from other retailers and when I found the item at walmart I posted it on there and went on my merry way. While everyone else is waiting for the 5 dollar dvd's I was price matching disney dvd's for 3.99! It works great and Walmart did not question one of my matches. At WM by 5 and home by 6:30!

I think I may do the price match thing this year too.
I HATE standing in lines for 2-3 hours at CC.

For the price matches did you take your ads in with you to show the cashier. When I go grocery shopping I take my other grocery stores ads with me and show the prices to the cashier. I think I might do what you are suggesting. The only way I think it might not work is if Walmart does not carry that certain brand of the MP3 player and whatnot.

i so price match everything i can possibly can!!!...i usually make a list and price of everything and where..and i bring in the ads just in case...but normally that day no one cares so they will put in whatever u say...(got some good bargains that way..plus last year i must have been luckier..the cashier wasnt a normal cashier and every price match item...which was every item...lol...he was giving me a 3 dollar credit (walmart policy if the item doesnt ring up the correct price not for pricematching)...so 3.99 movies i was getting for 99 cents...i was in heaven...!!!

At my Wal-Mart I have to bring the ads in. Every year until last I've pricematched. Last year, my local walmart changed their policy and refused to price match because we live too far away from the other retailers. I had to drive to the other town to go to a walmart to price match. It sucked, because I found out when I got back home that my walmart did indeed pricematch after all. Kind of irked me, because I was told very firmly that if I tried to pricematch at my local walmart it would be refused.

Slim to none because they are still so hard to find and selling for over retail on auction sites. XBOX 360 deal is more liekly the Wii is just selling to well on its own. Just having them brings people in. Maybe a deal on some of the games might be possible though

I can't even find a Wii right now and have been looking for a few weeks. This will be my daughter's gift for Christmas this year. I took all my ads to Wal-Mart to price match CD's, DVD's and computer games. Paying at 5:30, then to Target. Which didn't open until 6, so waited until they opened, got my items there and straight next door to Best Buy to get the items I needed there. Then, made it over to the mall, but I was finished by noon.

I'll be out, but I won't be thinking about coming home anytime soon. I love making an entire day (from the wee early morning to close to midnight) out of it. We're live too far away from where we shop to go home and unlaod so we usually just have to start throwing things over the front seats because when we open doors things tend to fall out!

I will be shopping all day long on BF and some on Sat. morning, and then again on Sunday. Only reason I will not be out all day Sat. this year is I have tickets to a concert that night and will be spending time with friends to start the holiday season off right.

I am not ready yet!!! Usually, I am so excited and rearing to go. This year, we have had a few obstacles come up. There have been some question on the stability of my job (we will know 11/11), and we had to take an emergency trip across the country (each taking a week w/o pay). DH had a job interview yesterday for a new company, so he took off, and now DD is sick, so I had to stay with her today.

I just haven't had time to be excited, and frankly, if it keeps up this way, I'll be broke!!!

I am definately ready. I started early and went to TRU last night. I had previously bought 2 nintendo DS's when they had the 20 gift card promo, so I ended up getting a 34.00 matchbox toy and three video games for 38.00 after I used the two gift cards, plus the MCDs bucks, and a five dollar off coupon, then I got the 10.00 gift card back for spending 75 dollars. This totally put me in the mood for BF, and now I can't wait for it to get here. Only a few more weeks....and in the meantime I am waiting no so patiently for the rest of the ad scans to come out. The anticipation is killing me;)

I'm kinda torn on BF this year. Since we moved to Alaska, I know we're not going to get the same great deals y'all get in the lower 48. But, I suppose any good deal is better than no deal at all!

Last year was my first year shopping on black friday, and i wasn't very impressed. But i'm already seeing some good sales this year, so im hopefull!

I'm excited. Have recruited both son and husband for this year.

My wife and I started discussing what kind of things we wanted to watch for on BF around labor day.

I am totally ready. My bank account, however, is not.

I am soooo ready for Black Friday, just for the fun of it all. My supervisor knew in January that I was taking the day off for it. :D I honestly can't say what I'm looking to get yet though. The kids haven't really given me a clue about what they want yet. I keep asking and just get the shrug. I'll figure it out by than hopefully! The younger two, who share a room, have asked for cable to be hooked into their room, told them I'd put it on their list for Santa. Maybe I'll pick up a new tv for them. They have one of our ancient ones that has their DVD player and Super NES hooked into it.

wow i see this thread was started on july 12th, 2007 11:44 a.m that would be exactly 31 minutes after i delievered my 3rd son. so i cant say i was thinking about bf at that moment but soon after that YEP!:cheesy:

This is truly the start of the holiday season. My wife and I have done BF seriously for maybe 5-6 years now. She loves to wait for the ads and look at them all thanksgiving day. I love coming here to GottaDeal and planning out every little detail and ranking which stores are most important and having an entire gameplan for BF. It's really a blast, we love the deals and how it gets you in the holiday mood.

We have a Thanksgiving day family tradition:
1. Watch the Thanksgiving Day parade on tv
2. Cook all the food for our dinner - some of it prepared the night before
3. Then we all look through the ads and make our plans for BF

This might be my favorite holiday of all - cooking, shopping, wrapping presents, bring out the christmas tree and putting out all the christmas decorations and most importantly spending time with family!

I am now at the point i find myself at the computer hours a day waiting for new ads and deals to pop up.....:D :D

Hee hee me too! Luckily I got my Wii for the kids from Walmart for $249, by calling ahead to see if their trucks delivered a batch, my store got 25! I also got a (probably elcheapo) karoake machine for my daughter (age 7) from Dollar General for $39. Maybe elcheapo, but we can use CD karaoke discs (not cassette) and hook up to the TV. Really didnt want to spend $200 on something and have it break soon too! No Karaoke machines delivered a 4 star rating or higher that I could find.

I feel very accomplished today!!!! Black Friday I can take my time! Hubby said I had this very strange look in my eyes today like a madwoman! LMAO I HAD to get a WII before the Christmas rush. I remided him about the Cabbage Patch Doll year, and last year with WII and the Tickle Me Elmo, and the PS2 debut year...Then he undertood! LOL
