Welcome! You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Sharon Shin Shin Tang, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oregon. The purpose of the study is to increase knowledge and understanding of factors affecting depression and anxiety.
What does this study entail? If you decide to participate, you will be asked to answer a series of questionnaires about your emotions, moods and history of trauma. There is no one correct answer to any question. You are encouraged to be as thorough as possible. However, your participation is voluntary and you are free to choose not to answer any given question and/or withdraw from the study at any time. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your relationship with the Psychology Department, the University of Oregon, or any other groups or persons. The duration of the entire study will be less than 60 minutes.
What do I get for participating? You will receive a $10 electronic gift certificate to Amazon.com for completing the survey. In order to receive the gift certificate, you will be asked to provide an email address. This address will not be linked to the data. If you would prefer to remain anonymous and still participate in the study, you do not need to provide any contact information, but you will not receive the gift certificate.
n addition, the information that is gathered in this study may provide information that is beneficial toward our understanding of mental health diagnoses and, specifically, may provide you with a greater understanding of psychological research. However, we cannot guarantee that you personally will receive any benefits from this research beyond receiving the gift certificate.
Will anyone know which results are mine? Confidentiality is strictly maintained at all times. All data obtained from this experiment will be assigned a numerical code. No reference to your identity will be contained anywhere in the data.
Who should I call if I have questions? If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the principal investigator (PI), Ms. Sharon S. Tang, Department of Psychology, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403, (541) 346-1982, stang@<hidden>.
