View Full Version : GPS Navigation Vendor Seeks Road Testers
jarerice 4-9-2007, 4:18 PM This could be fun!
This summer you can be tooling around with an Internet-connected GPS device--for free. Starting Monday morning, Dash Navigation will sign up 2000 volunteer drivers across the United States to test its Dash Express, the first in-car GPS that collects real-time traffic data and integrates it into its route planning.

DramaQueenLucy 4-9-2007, 4:35 PM Thanks I put in for it
I have heard about people doing this. I hear the pay is good. You need to be good at paperwork and details. Definitely worth trying if you have a knack for those things. Good luck to all who apply.
justlisa27 4-9-2007, 5:10 PM Wow, thanks :)
Thanks Jaerice! You always seem to find such interesting things! I gave it a shot! :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All,
This is Mark Williamson from Dash, and I want to thank all of you for applying for our Road Test. This site drives some SERIOUS traffic! I want to also clear up some of the questions I have seen through the thread as I have read it:
1) We are accepting new testers in the state of California, so if you live in CA, go ahead and apply for the program.
2) We are are *NOT* going to spam people who apply. We are only going to reach out to those who applied to let them know we got their application, and then again based on the outcome of their application. Anyone who said they don't want us to contact them again won't hear a peep from us after being notified of their status.
3) While our Road Testers won't be able to keep the units they test, we *ARE* going to do something nice for them at the end of the test. We know that these testers are going to put in some hard work, so we want to make sure they are happy at the end of the program.
Thanks again to everyone that applied and I will be back around to see if there are any other questions.
Mark
jarerice 4-17-2007, 10:08 PM I got a response email:
Thanks for taking time to apply to participate in the Dash National Road Test.
We are currently evaluating all the applications we've received, and will email you again before the end of May to let you know if you've been accepted.
We'll be back in touch shortly.
Team Dash
Um, I heard they were only accepting applications from CA residents.
postinoloco 4-18-2007, 12:58 AM If you go to the website and click news tab you will see beta test is expanding beyond Cali to include entire U.S. So sign up and keep those fingers crossed. I'm over the road trucker I'd love one of these.:D
tessvasicek 4-18-2007, 5:34 AM Just got the following email from them:

I'm really hoping that we get in on it, as my husband commutes 75 miles each way, that adds up to some serious mileage, and something like thins may help make his drives a bit better.
tessvasicek 5-24-2007, 4:44 PM Just got the following email from them a few minutes ago, so watch your inbox if you applied:

jarerice 6-15-2007, 12:49 PM I hear they are sending out emails...telling you if you are in or out!
It was a tough decision...
With over 50,000 applicants, the response to our call for Road Testers was incredible. Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey. Unfortunately, with only 2,000 test units available, we weren't able to select you to participate in our program.
If you asked to be contacted again in the future, we will provide periodic updates from Dash. And, of course, we'll send you all the details of where you can buy a Dash Express once it's available in your area.
In the meantime, rest assured we will not distribute your personal information and
will only make contact if we have compelling news to pass along. Should you want
to know what's happening with Dash at any time, check in at dash.net.
Thanks again for your interest, and we apologize for not being able to include you
in our Road Test program.
Team Dash
