I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but especially people in Indiana should beware. I decided to get the Sunday edition of the Star. They had a great introductory rate and a free gift to take it for 6 months. I paid, they confirmed via email and gave me a start date. On that day, I did not get my paper and when I realized it wasn't coming and customer service wouldn't answer, I went to the local convenient store and got the last one.
They sent me a "sorry we missed you" email and it will start next week and we'll add a week to your subscription to make it up to you. Gee thanks, give me what I paid for.... and act like you are so nice. But figured it was a form email, no biggie....
On Wednesday they call and say "by the way, that rate isn't enough for us to make money so you'll have to pay the higher rate and the free gift is for Indianapolis subscribers only" WHAT A RIP OFF... I have asked for supervisors and can't get through, I was called a liar about getting a confirmation email, I have been at it for 2 days and they have billed my CC for the "new" rate which is higher than going to the gas station to buy it myself. I told them this and was told "but the home delivery paper is different" and "it's the only way to guarantee you will get all your coupons and ads because we don't always put them in all of the papers"....
Anyone else have this happen or know what I can do... as of last night, the same offer I got in on was still on the website and still had no mention that it may not apply to everyone.
Before I just tell them what they can do with their home delivery, does anyone have any experience to know if what she told me was true about the coupons being different in the two editions or if I can force them to honor it? I would switch to the Cincinnati paper, but I bought both a couple of weeks and the Cincinnati one doesn't have nearly as good of coupon values.
