I have 2 rings in my binder. one is food, one non-food. In the food section: Canned, dairy, frozen, baking, snack, misc.
Non-food: H&B ( the majority of it), cleaning, baby, pet, misc household (scotch tape, lint rollers, etc.). I also have a pocket for resteraunt coupons, and another for recipets.

Okay, I am new too. Your binder sounds really big. Is it like a the fat wallet size or something totally different?

I have mine set up according to the floorplan of the store. I use tabbed dividers between the catagories and mark them according to what is in the aisle, like soup, juice, baking, etc.
Hope this helps, good luck !!

I actually use a zippered binder.

The floorplan idea is great if you have one store you shop at. It makes it really easy to just turn the page as you go down an aisle. For me, i have about 6 stores i shop at regularrly, so it just doesnt work anymore :( It was great for starting out tho.

I have a small recipe box that I made dividers for (bfast, lunch, dinner, snack, h&b, home, store) that fits into my purse. I have probably 100 in there I plan to use eventually, but I keep the coupons I didn't think I'd use in a big binder in the car (just in case I really need them).

I too shop many different stores and have been in search of the perfect organizing method. I am now (as of 3 days ago) using a check organizing file (which looks like a super-long coupon organizer). I them have 13 main catergories (all of the basics plus baby/kid and pet - as I have a few of each). I then place small envelopes inside each pocket with the catergory broken down even further (H&B has a dental envelope for toothpaste/toothbrushes/rinse, Hair has shampoo/conditioner/hairdye, etc...). So far this has worked out well because it is small enough to fit in my big purse, and I can flip though it with one hand so that my toddler doesn't try to reorganize things for me. I can also place my Shopping pad and pen in there and close it shut. So far so good for now. But I have changed systems about 5 times in the past 3 years, so I am always open to ideas.

That's how I shop. I always write the lists that way if I send my dh. But, I also shop at multiple stores, so organizing my coupons wouldn't work very well that way. Gosh if one store would just have everything I need... ;)
