Infant language research study at the University of Pennsylvania
*Funded by the National Institutes of Health
*Approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Pennsylvania

-What is the goal?
We are looking for infants and toddlers (30 months and under) to participate in an observational research study about early language development. This work helps us to understand how children learn language, focusing on what children know, even if they don’t say it yet.

-Who can participate?
English-learning infants and toddlers between the ages of 7 and 30 months (with the parent or guardian).

-What you will be asked to do?
Visit us at the Infant Language Center in the Department of Psychology for about a half hour. During the visit, your child will sit on your lap and watch a 4-minute movie and hear speech while we carefully observe how your child responds.

-Compensation:
Your choice of $20, or two children's books (or a combination of $10 and 1 book). Parking or Septa (public transportation) will be reimbursed.

-Why it's important?
What we learn from testing infants and children may ultimately lead to better
and more reliable early interventions for children with language difficulties.
