I just got the AMEX Rewards Gold card and was wondering if anyone else has it. Im not too concerned about the "rewards" aspect of it as Im not too fond of those point systems. Few things that stick out are the Price Match for up to $250 per item, the accidental damage coverage and the extended manufactures warranty coverage. Just wondering for those of you who have the card about your experience with trying to use any of these services?

Normally you have to pay for the card, but I can use it free for a year.

So far it sounds like the only two benefits are:

1) Bragging rights.
2) BVG up to $250 per item.

I wouldn't consider an AMEX Rewards card to include bragging rights...I mean...If they give one to me...not to impressive. ;):P

Why is the manufactures warranty extension not a benefit? That was one of the main things that made me apply for the card. I applied for the Chase Perfect card but got shot down.

IMHO the only credit card worth bragging about is the American Express Centurion, bling bling!

Several other Amex cc's offer Buyer's Assurance Plan (https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/benefits/buyersassurance.jsp) protection but with no annual fee :yelclap:

My CitiBank Dividend Platinum Select (http://www.gottadeal.com/click.php?id=8102) offers:

0% APR balance transfer for 12 months
Free Virtual Account Numbers (one time use cc's)
5% cash back on all gas, supermarket and drugstore purchases.
1% cash back on all other purchases.
VISA and MasterCard benefits such as free extended warranty coverage
NO ANNUAL FEE
VISA/MC are more widely accepted than Amex is

Hmm, maybe Ill use it for just the year. Take advantage of the BVG for some hot deals and then ditch it for something better once they start making me pay.
