I use scottrade, because they're the cheapest.

GUI wise, I like amertirade.

Scottrade $7, ameritrade, $10.

I think there is also brown. but those are the two.

I second Scottrade... Been using them for four years and have never once had a problem... Ameritrade was my second choice, used them for a while but moved away from them to simplify my life (keep everything at one brokerage)...

However, don't use a discount brokerage if you're gonna need advice/assistance with choosing what to do...

I like BrownCo. for a little day trading. (My own meaning of that-- not 200 trades/day like the real meaning)

Flat $5 -lightning fast executions. You can get confirmations/statements in the mail, which I like so I don't waste ink printing them. You can download also to quicken and turbo tax. I had ameritrade once for a while but found their site to be clunky to navigate and never liked it; also I think they are paperless. I've been with Brown almost 7 years and never had 1 problem. They also offer some java-based quotes but I don't like their interface for that. You can reach a broker within minutes if you want, but that trade is $15. Very responsive customer service the couple times I called. Mostly it's on auto-pilot on their side.. they haven't made mistakes so far. :D
