I wonder how many of us "mature" men and women are trying to get decent surveys? I'm 65 and darn it...we are great consumers! I've been writing different companies especially if I'm invited to a panel at some of the magazines telling them that they are missing out on a fantastic opportunity by not including us by focusing on different demographics.

Maybe we need to get the survey sites on board by contacting them with a note of some sort. They all have that option on their websites.

We aren't just buying denture products, incontinence products, medications and using cell phones for emergencies only!! We eat, buy and use makeup, (well, the women do!), shop online and most importantly, use our computers and our minds!!
:yup:

The survey companies can only send out the surveys that companies want, and I'm sure they try to get as many demographics as possible.

Good for you for knowing all you do though, my grandma is just a little older than you and has never used a computer.

I recently read an article in a business magazine that addressed this issue. I was stunned at what some companies attitudes are towards the 55 + consumer demographic. The article said the 55+ age group is not a market they want to spend money marketing to. They claim the older generation slows down in their spending, are less likely to try new brands, are not influenced by corporate marketing and are not worth the expense of advertising! I was horrified! The article named no particular companies but said only this is a generally accepted attitude in the corporate retail world and advertising. When Americans are living well beyond 55 I can't believe this is the attitude.

I hope I didn't come off as being grumpy andold! LOL!

I'm happy to have found this site where anyone can sign up for surveys and get some fantastic freebies. (And I have!)

I know that sometimes things have been accomplished by getting numbers of people to contact the businesses that we all are consumers for either for good or bad feedback.

Thanks for your reply, let's all hope for lots of freebies and surveys.

I turn 66 this saturday and I totally am offended by the companies attitudes..as Penny so correctly stated, We are great consumers! and totally aware of the advancing tech age.. and KEEP up with! I have been in "cyberworld" for years, shop online, bank online, etc..We raised children and now watching and helping our children raise their children, thru them also we keep up with "what's what"..It is really a sad state of affairs that for us that have worked our whole lives, raised families and have spent years, not to mention our hard earned dollars as a consumer of their products, that we are discarded as "not worthy"..sad...sad..sad..

i am thinking they want the younger groups because of the bigger social cliques....but that is just my thinking and not necessarily gospel

Not only are the 60+ group great consumers themselves, but many have grandchildren that they take care of or like to indulge. Believe me, I've seen how my mom buys all kinds of stuff for my niece.

I know! I can't believe the corporate world hasn't caught on to that! The younger kids have more "disposable income' and they are spoiled. Anyone remember when we used to go outside with, at most, our bikes and play until dark?

Oh My Dear Friends ,You all are echoing the same things I've been saying lately. It is such a shame with all our knowledge & experience that we are so ignored in today commerece.
The playing out till dark LOL We were rural kids & our toys were mostly a tin can & and old spoon. You would be suprised at the treasures you can dig up.

I'm 20 and I often get disqualified after the age question too. :)

I am really surprised at that. Your age group is considered advertisers biggest market.

mmm40, i remember as a kid all we had was a ball and we used that ball to play dodgeball, baseball (where a lightpole or a hydrant was the "base"), volleyball, stickball, and other than that maybe some hopscotch or hide and seek. funny how things have changed so.

I understand that, and I am quite happy for it, but for some reason or another surveys are often looking for different things..oh well.

I am in your corner.I am almost 61 but I
am an avid shopper!I wish there was someway we mature ladies could contact "all" the survey companies in one letter form and let them know we are the ones mostly doing the surveys and we have a lot to add;and we have a lot of input and also a lot of us are still out there in the consumer world and we know what is going on.
