How can I get the best deal? What have you done that seems to work?

I went test driving yesterday, I was going to order either an 04-05 jeep grand cherokee or go for a new durnago, But after driving the 05 jeep for a block I pulled over and let the sales man drive it back, it was horrible I could not see bad blind spots yadda yadda they didnt have an 04 for me to try but had an 02 cherokee which is built just about the same as the 04 and I hated that. I tried an 05 Durango and it was just too big and same bad blind spots.

HOWEVER They had an 03 durango which is the last year they did the smaller body and I was in love! 13,000 miles loaded leather heated seats the works it's the ower of the dealerships car.

Dec KBB has it at High value is 25k Low is 21k And they "didnt" have Jan KBB so I told him if I come in with cash can I walk out of here with that for 20k and he thought about it and told me 23,800 Well that's about 3,800 outta the question :( I want it so bad.

Do you think if I physically take a check in there and say look here's 20k (Was approved for a 20k loan wish I could pull it out of nowhere but cant;) I want that or I take my business elsewhere?

Also does anyone know what dealerships are able to buy them for I mean what thier discount is? He was telling me I'm loosing money as it is blah blah and I know that's a load of BS
Thanks for any help you can offer

Consumer Reports has a service that they offer to subscribers and non-subscribers... Costs about $15 but they'll supply you with a report detailing everything that you could possibly want to know about the given car you're looking at... I *know* they do it for new cars... I *think* they do it for used cars, might be worth a look at consumerreports.org

Used cars are usually bought at auction, so what they paid for them is not a set price.

Anyway, check out the TMV (True Market Value) at edmunds.com and the values at nadaguides.com. Both of those sites have a wealth of free resources for car buying.
