View Full Version : Upcoming Dell Coupons
We just got this e-mail from the Dell Affiliate team:
"Dear Valued Affilaites:
We just wanted to give you a heads up that we will be having some great system offers that will run Thursday 1/6/05 6:00am through Monday 1/10/05 5:59am.
We will send more details as soon as we have them. Be assured that these offers will be much richer than our standard site promotions, and better than our most recent affiliate coupons."
Of course we'll post the coupons as soon as we get them. :yelclap:

A shiny new notebook is calling you Rossman....
A shiny new notebook is calling you Rossman....
It would be nice but an unnecessary expense right now.
Hmm, maybe a nice price ($200) on an 17" LCD?
Hmm, maybe a nice price ($200) on an 17" LCD?
I wish.
I wish.
I've seen the Dell E173FP (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=320-3997&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=210&first=true&page=productlisting.aspx) as low as $199 with free shipping a few months ago.
It can happen :fedora:
Next time you see it, let me know. I want to buy a new monitor, and wireless keyboard-- then work on getting a new printer, and computer.

Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Hooter's franchise, yacht, home, yeah yeah I get the idea :2afro:
Weird thing is that I was about to order a new 8600 but didn't need another printer and held off just to see what they came up with in the next round of deals. I'm praying there's a $500+ coupon...

Looking for two well established computers with a budget of $3000.
These will not be gaming computers, but instead they will be performance computers used to run various applications.
Fast processor/ram/sata hard drive, as well as a cd-rw is required. It would be nice to also have a floppy drive, all in one drive, dvd or dvd-rw drive as a second drive.
Also, two lcd flat panel monitors, either 17 or 19 will do.
This does not need to be purchased for another 2 months, but if these deals are good, then they will be purchased now, as apposed to down the road. Do you expect to see better deals in the next few months?

I'm looking for a new computer... but I want to build my own... time to replace this P3-500 with something a bit faster, like one of those machines with Athlon FX-55 processors.
Any word from Dell yet? For me this is feeling like the night before Black Friday all over again...
Ok, its 1/6...still no word. Rumored to be a big sale today....

Ok, this sale has been effective for 1 hour and 45min so far and no word yet! I'm DYIN' over here! LOL :splat:
I got the feeling last night and dismissed it but now I have the sinking feeling I may have been right. Any chance Dell floated that email just to get people to hold off and not use the DELLf coupons? Just looking at what's out there now, Dell's deals on thier website look worse than what they had a few days ago.

Ok, Im confused. Someone please help before I explode! LOL The link Ross provided is for only 10% off which is only half of what the majority of the Delf coupons were. Ok, so it says stackable, but what do you stack it with? The description says only one coupon may be applied at checkout. So, whats this huge deal? and how can I get myself a new notebook for a really good price?

That's what I'm wondering, IIRC the Dellf coupons expired yesterday 1/5/2005?

I tried to enter a DELLf coupon and got the missing requirements message. I have no idea how Dell does it...is it possible that they might be sending more deals in the next few hours? Unless (and hopefully someone here can answer this) it is stackable on top of the $200 rebate, these deals aren't much better than what they normally offer on their own website. And to think I passed up a 20% off coupon, free printer, and free internal wireless card thinking today's deals would be something close to the fall deals...
I hate to be cynical about these deals, but I have been watching the Dell coupons, sales, etc for a long long time. They are masters at this game and it's not easy to find a TRULY good deal. Free this, free that, save 10%, $100-150 rebates, save $500, free shipping, free double whatevers, stackable, not stackable, ... they have more combos than Burger King.
My approach with Dell is to price out a system and then keep track of what the total bottom line delivered price is. Over time you will learn what a REAL sale looks like.
Personally, I jumped on a Dell deal a while back when "the planets aligned" just right and there was a $500 coupon to boot. The coupon wasn't stackable and the real net savings ended up to be about $250.
Sometimes the Dell Home sales prices are lower than Dell Small Business but usually the Small Business bottom line is 10% (or more) cheaper than the Home prices -- don't ask me why, they just are. :squint:
It ain't easy, and Dell isn't in the business to lose money. I've also learned over the years that, no matter what computer system (part or peripheral) you buy, there will be a better, faster, and much cheaper one announced within days or weeks of yours being delivered.
Oh oh, my e-mail chime just announced the arrival of a new Dell Deal message. Let's see what they have up their sleeves today. My wife wants a new computer so it's time to start the cycle all over again. :fedora:

BigBob, what kind of PC does your wife want?
Specs and price?
I've seen great deals on the Dimension 3000 (perfect if you're not into 3D design or a gamer) and 4600/4700.

No, but that's what I bought my son for Christmas. It had $612 in savings and it's awesome--I upgraded the video card to the 128 card and it plays doom 3 and Everquest 2 fantastically!! It also has a DVD burner so maybe eventually I'll get around to burning these pics to a DVD and making a slide show from them. I say eventually because the desktop has had a DVD burner for 2 years and I still haven't done it LOL
Rossman,
It'll probably be a Dell 4700 ... I am not a fan of the "entry level" Dells like the 3000 at all -- they are just too basic a system from the inside out. If Dell pops up with a really good deal on their 8000 series systems, that might be the way I go.
I'm in no hurry and maybe the right combo will come along from Dell in the next few weeks. It's sort of like a treasure hunt ! :2roller:
Right now the 4700 with a 17" LCD (ultrasharp version with DVI) and an upgraded video card and a decent configuration of other goodies included can be had for about $800 from the Small Business division.
LCD monitor prices are dropping like dead flys in the Wintertime. No problem finding the simpler 17" LCD's for right at $200 these days.
BigBob,
It sounds like you know your stuff :)
I personally own a Dimension 4600 which is my main rig, great machine. My only gripe is the case sucks compared to the previous generation 45xx which was a clamshell design. Other than that it's not entry level (3000) nor is it expensive/bleeding edge technology (8400/XPS).
I've seen loaded 4700 for $499 after rebate and 17" LCDs (analog only - no DVI) for $200. So around $700-$800 is a good ballpark for a beefy machine which should easily give you 5+ years.
Of course us hard core Hot Dealers always get the itch to upgrade after 12 months ;)
Ok, all I see is the 20.1" but it was $505 up until yesterday. This email was just a sucker punch imo...
Yeah, it's up to $599 with the 10% off.
I ended up ordering the 8600 through the small business dept. and got $250 off with free shipping... It was a royal pain in the butt but it's better than waiting and losing out on that avenue as well.
How do you order in the "small business dept." and get away with it-- if you're not a small business?

There is no verification, so any individual can order from Dell Small Business.
You just need one thing, a business name :)
Aaron's Consulting sounds good to me :2football
Alright, so I'm looking to buy a computer, and monitor. Any help?
They just used my name as the business.

What kind of desktop system? What do you plan on doing with it?
Do you need an AGP slot (gaming graphics card)?
What kind of monitor and size? CRT or LCD? 17, 19, or 20?
Most importantly what's your budget?
P4 2.8-3.4GHz
40-80GIG HD, Normal Graphics Card, etc.
I will do web design and stuff with the computer. My computer right now isn't bad, it's just I want something new. I'd like a LCD 17, or 19. $1,000 or so for my budget.
I hope we can find a good deal, I need new technology.

I wouldn't get anything faster than a 3.0 ghz. You won't notice too much of a difference for the extra $ you put down.
When doing web design, you will want at least an 80GB hard drive. Also, an integrated graphics card is not good to have. Once you get something that requires a good graphics card, you pretty much have to get an entire new computer.
The Dimension 4700 is pretty decent. It has integrated graphics, which I personally wouldn't reccomend. I picked up a computer almost twice as good as that one about 6 months ago. If you can, wait for a better deal.

BobbyDouglas, I have a 120gig harddrive that is mapped to my computers has H:\ for HTML ;) -- for all my webdesign work. I've got it covered. Also, I keep all of my data on a different harddrive, therefore if my computer crashes-- I'm safe.
For those of you trying to buy a new system from Dell -- and want to be able to say that you Gottadeal ... :) Here's my $.02.
If you can be patient and do some comparison shopping over a period of several weeks you will find that Dell is very clever at their pricing and sales promotions. I have found that even the best "sounding" sales are little more than a shuffling of $'s from item-to-item and that the bottom line price of my "ideal" system seldom varied more than $50 to maybe $100 on a $1100 configuration -- no matter what. But, occasionally they wil screw up and have a REAL deal. That's the time to scorch your Mastercard. :2roller: The REAL sales seem to be oriented around deep discounts on their LCD monitors or their limited time $500 non-stacking coupons that show up in e-mails. Almost always the Small Business division of Dell has the lowest bottom line prices -- but NOT always.
And, don't home in on just one model either. I found that I could get a more powerful/flexible Dimension 8000 series system for almost the exact same price as a 4600 a few months back -- it was a strange situation but one of the quirks of their sales promo at that time.
Watch their "outrageous deals" section too. Sometimes they really are good deals and sometimes they are the dregs of the old models that they are trying to clear out of inventory. Sometimes you can customize one of the outrageous deal configurations and do OK. Just be aware that you MAY be buying a "last generation" computer.
Ya gotta shop before you drop (your cash) ! The Dell gang are masters at marketing which means they can separate you from your money and make you feel like you got kissed too.
The last tip I have for now: On the day you order your system, print out the rebate paperwork. When your system arrives, and before you even plug it in, SEND IN THE REBATE. Two (maybe 3) of my friends have gotten all excited and involved with their new systems and FAILED to send in their rebate papers in time. When they woke up and realized it, they were not happy campers  since they lost out on $100-$150 each. That's real money !
I hope you find this info useful ! Happy Hunting :fedora:

I'll add my two cents from my past error. The free upgrades that they offer...sometimes you have to actually click the right circle to get it for free.
I ordered two computers at the same time and didn't click the right spot on one of the computers and ended up with less memory. So don't be in a hurry!
i fully agree with bigbob. you have to watch a configuration or 3 that you'd be interested in buying for quite a while. most of the time the price doesn't change much, especially if you're interested in a very base system. but sometimes either their deals line up with exactly what you were looking for, or they just have something truly fantastic, and you get a big discount. i took a couple months looking for the notebook i'm typing on right now, and got an absolutely killer deal (hint: i got it in june 2003 and the first time you could buy a better notebook for cheaper was the $500 coupon in nov 2004).
