Anyone buy these for people for X-Mas? I hate these things & never buy em. Nor would I buy them to give to someone for X-Mas. IMO the popcorn is not all that great in them. Every year I see the stores just full of these things & think stop makin em. LOL

lmao i get one every year!!!! i love it. (often from boy scouts trails end pop corn...seems fresh) i am not the one that eats most of the popcorn... i put it out and others eat it.. but i replace my old time with a new one this way...using the tin as a garbage pail or sand bucket for the sidewalks.

Well, you can get them for like $5-$10 so if the popcorn turns out chewy you're really not out that much.

I like to get them for the kids because they like the popcorn and they use the containers to keep up with things like hair accessories and small purses, I think the boys use their's for small toys.

My dd has to have one EVERY year! She loves the popcorn and it comes in handy for plopping down to watch a movie. The tins we get haven't ever been stale, so I guess we've lucked out. ;) We usually get them from Walmart or Dollar General for around five bucks.

Bunniq
10-15-2006, 2:57 PM
In the past I would buy five or more. I would leave one at home, take one to work, give one to DH to take to work, and whatever was left we would take to informal parties we may have been invited to for the holidays.

Last year I didn't buy any, and people missed them. LOL I may pick up one or two this year.

I buy them for my father-in-law. No not as a cruel joke. I go to Mark's popcorn. They are a specialty store around here. You pick the tin. Then you decide what popcorn to put in it. They have around 50 different popcorn flavors. It is always fresh and the caramel corn is to die for.

I never thought about reusing them. LOL Now I am trying to think of other ways to reuse them. I might just add a few reusable hints if I buy any to give this year.

I just sent one to my son at college, he and his buddies loved it!!
Of course it was a deal idea from here, with a discount code and all:wizard:

I even ordered a Halloween one for him with popcorn, pretzels and candy
in it. I am having it delivered on 10/30 for a Halloween present.

To each his own I guess:idea:

We too use the can afterwards for something, usually a trash can for the

We do the boy scout popcorn. Its actually better than the stuff in walmart but you pay alot more for it , better meaning fresher.

Yes its trails end. My DS is a Webelos so this is our last year selling the popcorn (well for him anyway).

I just purchased a $40.00 tin. ( It has chocolate popcorn, carmel with almonds and peacans (Im hidding this bag, lol) and cheese popcorn. This is the first year I've tried their cheese popcorn. We normally just buy on chocolate and one carmel with almonds @ $16 a tin.

We got new items that are not on the sell sheet for our Show and Sell- We got a $5.00 pack of microwave and an $8.00 back of microwave---The $5.00 pack is only 3 packs of popcorn and the $8 pack was 6 bags of popcorn.

We save the tins and DS has pens/pencils etc in one on his one and DD has alot of art supplies in one.

i like getting them..sometimes the popcorn its good other times eh.. i store things in them too and for some reason its easy to remember oh the baby stuff is in the wizard of oz tin.. the christmas stuff(bows tags wrapping stuff) is in that santa tin..etc etc.. i have a tall one i open up and stand a mess of rolls of wrapping paper in them when im actively wrapping gifts for the season. it keeps them near and they are not rolling all over the floor.
i will sometimes buy them and give them with a movie and some candy to older married nieces and nephews for them and their family.. i have a ton of family now so its a way to give but doesnt break me.

Those things are extortion! My one and only nephew is trying to get me to buy those things. I told him that I'd feel less ripped off if I could just donate some funds to his troop, rather than buying popcorn for way too much money.

I LOVE THEM. We get one in Nov and the kids eat all the popcorn and then any change OR dollars they find laying around the house goes in the Tin. A week before christmas we cash this in and they get to buy gifts ( they draw names) ( they split the amount of money thats in the tin). so this way they each get to buy their sis or bro a gift . they love it. its almost like a game!

I buy these tins sometimes. I'll even wait til after Christmas when they are really marked down. My DH loves the popcorn! Plus those tins come in handy for storing Christmas decorations. They are already Christmas looking so they don't need to be labeled. I store my tree angel in one. I also use them for garland and even lights sometimes.

We have a place here in town that sells those tins in many different sizes.
If you want you can take one of the cans you have gotten from
them and they just fill the can with the flavor of
your choice and only pay for the popcorn.
Their caramel popcorn is to live for.

Wow, it seems that you either love them or hate them. I sometimes buy them if I'm in a pinch for a cheaper gift. I do like to get them myself. The only ones I have ever gotten as a gift had the popcorn in bags and I like to reuse the tin - one has Christmas ornaments in it, another has gloves, mittens and hats.
