My dryer went out this weekend and now my washer is acting up. Any suggestions on a good set? I'm not liking the laundrymat trips. This is something that'll teach humbleness to any body. :yup:

Unless you have a Sam's Club nearby... alimfp 9-23-2006, 1:43 AM First, what kind of budget are you working with? Second, ditto CarpeDiem, awesome set!! Dryer reviews on epinions (http://www.epinions.com/Dryers) AND washing machine reviews on epinions (http://www.epinions.com/Washing_Machines) if that helps any! If you catch a sale on appliances at Sears, that may be a good bet. We've shopped there for appliances before after scouring for the best prices. Not a W&D, but other appliances anyway. :) CarpeDiem 9-23-2006, 1:44 AM I just got mine :) RossMAN 9-23-2006, 1:47 AM All I've heard is avoid the Maytag Neptune. CarpeDiem 9-23-2006, 2:05 AM Yep that's what I had heard too Ross :( So I went with whirlpool kbrady2 9-23-2006, 10:14 AM My mom was VERY successful recently in buying scratch and dent from Best Buy and Conns (if you have those). She ended up buying a matching set but each piece from a different store and saved about $500. Other advice that I have heard is that you should shop for each piece separately because in many cases, the best dryer isn't matched with the best washer. What I am trying to say is that a "SET" isn't maybe always the best way to go.. that's what I learned from Consumer Reports. Have Fun! threelittlecupcakes 9-26-2006, 2:04 PM The guy who comes out from our natural gas company to work on ours said for washers never get a GE or Amana get Roper or Whirlpool. Kenmore's could be a GE, Amana or Whirlpool with the Kenmore name on it. I figure he would know since he works on so many of them. |
