DH and I went to a fire protection seminar the other night and the company running it sells Optical Smoke Alarms. These Alarms are to only have a 4% failure rate where normal smoke alarms have a failure rate of 45-50%. After the seminar a sales person comes to your home and gives recommendations on how many to have and where in your home to have smoke, heat, and c.m. alarms. Well we had to cancel our appointment due to a death on my side of the family, but DH's brother and SIL still had their appointment and this sales person told them for 3 smoke, 1 heat, and 2 c.m. alarms it would cost $3000.00! Now there is no way I would pay that much so I have been doing research to find Optical Smoke Alarms but I can't find any place that sells them to the general public.

So here is my question: Has anyone else heard of these and do you know where to buy them? TIA - Jennifer
