On BF would probably be Walmart.
I know you guys probably think "She's nuts!" but I just can't do it- people are absolutley nuts there. Last year I stopped there as my last stop of the day and it looked like a bomb went off in there.
I guess it would have to be something that I really really had to have- then I would camp out.

BEST BUY!! It's a zoo! MUCH worse than Wal-Mart around here. WalMart-Mart is never my first stop though. It's easier to get there about an hour after the store opens.

My first stops are always Staples or Circuit City. They are both much more civilized.

My first BF ever was my freshman year of college. Wal-Mart had used shopping carts to create line borders before the store opened, and people started grabbing the carts to use to put stuff in. It was down to only 1 cart and these two women started arguing with each other over it, then sicked (sp?) their husbands on each other! :eyepoppin

Needless to say, we haven't started a BF at Wal-Mart since

TRU! I was in there holiday time after just after I got hit by a car. Now, I shouldn't really have been up and outta the house but I am a stubborn fool. I was looking at a shelf of something or other and trying to support myself on one leg. Some woman who was not paying attention. or even looking in my direction, rolls her cart into and onto the the leg that just had a 2 ton vehicle roll onto it. This woman just keeps on rolling over me while I am trying to grab the cart, falling on my behind, and freely using the F word. Some man behind me was trying to hold me up while this woman was still rolling up on my leg. Some kid clerck was trying toss me out of the store for yelling at this woman and using the F word. The only reason I didn't get tossed is because the man who was holding me up explained to the TRU kid what was going on. The kid hesitantly walked away, the man continued to help me and that dip wad chick walks away without a word. I haven't stepped foot in a TRU since!

Best Buy. One, the line starts at noon on Thanksgiving(or sooner) so I'd never get the major items I wanted anyway. Two, the place is mad.

Walmart for me last year was a dream. Since it was turned into a Super Walmart, I was able to wait inside. Got there at 1am(there was a storm coming, and if I'd waited until 4am to leave, it would've been treacherous) walked around the store, got all my price matching items together, grabbed stuff from the regular ad, and then set up a game plan with MIL for the toys.

I forgot one, Menard's. Inside the store wasn't terrible, until you realized that all the people standing around were waiting to check out. There was approximately a 3 hour wait for check-out.

I hate Walmart but actually always make that my last stop. I refuse to do the pallet grab for the hot items first thing in the morning... it's always utter chaos. So I go do everything else first.. then when Walmart has calmed down some I go grab my price matching items for the stuff I didn't get seems to work out pretty well.

I have never been to walmart. I may try it this year. We never go to Target first thing. Ours never has it together on BF, people cutting everywhere etc. Also ours only puts out like maybe 8 of each BIG ad item. :(

Best Buy. I went in 2003 and hoped it would be the last time. Thankfully the ads in 2004 and 2005 haven't been good enough to lure me back. Although I was not there early enough for the doorbusters, Wal Mart last year was a dream here. I guess having 2 supercenters and 1 nonsupercenter within 15 minutes helps thin out the crowds.

That would be our Target.... and our Circuit City...... I try to avoid them at all costs. Or else I go with someone and they immediately get a place in line and I go get what we want. I don't like Walmart either - people actually get INJURED there for the sake of a gameboy game! What is WRONG with people anymore????
This year there is a new shopping complex opening -- we will have a Best Buy (that I've already decided to AVOID based on the previous posts here), Boscov's, Dick's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes and Noble, Michaels, Kohl's, and a couple others that I can't remember at the moment. Should be interesting!!!!

Amen to that! - I went in there last year for the Aussie Bondi Deluxe late in the day, like 3pm or something, saw the lines, and said, "they're not going to have one", sure as shootin', they had one, so I felt obligated to buy the grill. Talked to the cashier, and she said that the lines were running all the way back the store, in some cases, 30-40 carts deep.

Out Best Buy is like that too.. I forgot that one... You can go there, but you have to be in the first half of the line, know exactly what you want, and once you get it run straight to the registers. Otherwise you're SOL. I see lots of people just browsing and I always get amazed..why would you come today just to browse when the whole world is going to be there and you'll end up waiting in line for 4 hours for something you could have gotten any other day at a good price..

K-Mart.

I have not been to a K-Mart in almost three years. I had a bad customer service experience and I feel my money should go to customer service friendly stores.

I should note the main office was very nice after I contacted one of their VP's, but the "acting" store manager was terrible.

I received an apology and a gift card from the actual manager, and I donated the card to one of the families I help sponser.

Actually, Wal-Mart is quickly becoming one of the best stores in handling BF. The truth is, they should be. They can afford to hire the minds to figure out what is the best way to market and organize BF.

I never go to the local one, but there's one near the town I work in that's nice and I don't mind shopping there. Last year, they let people in, but didn't allow the BF items to be unwrapped from the pallets until a certain time. This allowed people to stake out the things they wanted and avoids people rushing into the doors when they open.

I'm not sure where I'll go for BF, it all depends on what I need and who has it. However, Wally World has had excellent BF doorbusters in electronics in the past, so I'm sure they'll be a good place to score those deals again.

Well, I might step foot in it after the chaos, but never for the BF sales-BEST BUY. First of all, they are usually out of what you need if you aren't in line by midnight. Second you have to wait in line 2-3 hrs to purchase anything there. Normally I love Best Buy, but wouldn't even dream of BF shopping there.

Our Walmart is open 24 hours and you can go in as early as you want on BF. Most of the items are on wrapped skids and some are brought out. So everyone is crowded around the skid until 6am when they unwrap it. What ticked me off last year was the 2 ladies in the front next to the cabbage patch babies started to just load their cart to the top with them and here they had people at every skid doing the same thing! Then they just met up and gave each other what they didn't have. I guess I good plan but I don't think I could stoop that low. All of those people waiting in line and they just could care less!

My sister and I stopped there after hitting up Best Buy last year. We figured we'd try for the Care Bears and Cabbage Patch newborns they were offering. Of course, the toy department was trashed, but there were a couple of nice people that helped us get what we went there for: First, I couldn't find the Care Bears, so when I saw a lady with a few of them in her cart I asked where she found them, so she let me know. I got there and there were a couple left so I grabbed 2 and went off to search for the CP. (A few minutes later, when I passed where the Care Bears were, it was empty). My sister lucked out on the CP, as she came upon two women who were trying to choose between two different newborns, so my sister asked if they were going to be getting both or just one, and they gave her the one they didn't want. On our way to the register, I saw one of the newborns on top of the stuff next to one of the registers, so I ran over and grabbed it.

I really search online for the free shipping deals and deals thatt are posting all year...I think if you pay attention enough, you will find most of the items you get on BF earlier in the year at about the same discount. I think you have to take in account your time and aggravation of getting somewhere and its sold out, rude people, crowds that are unbelievable and long checkout times. I got most of my stuff starting in June for xmas online through discount codes, BOGO free, free shipping. I guess it comes down to what you are really, really looking for. I do think most items can be had beforehand if you know what your after. We all have seen the laptop deals for $299 way after and well before BF Friday. I don't need to go in and brave the crowds for $5 games when Target had a clearance mid summer and you know most online toy outlets are going to have some great deals to entice customers to buy from them. I guess if I had someone to go with and hit alittle later when its not so crowded it might be fun but going by myself is just ok but of course if something comes up that is fantastic, might change my mind.....but we aren't really looking for any electronics and those seem to be the best deal and what everyone is after.

me too. I got there WAAAAAAYYY too early for what I was there to get. I had no idea what to expect, since this was the first time I'd BF shopped at a Super Wallyworld. I got everything on my list, was able to get it all to lay-a-way (well, 1/2 the stuff went to LAW) and get my other stuff paid for and out the door 15-20 minutes after they started. Whewww...

I then headed over to Staples - the line was just forming, so I got in about 20th spot and waited for it to open. People were much more civilized there than WM. Got everything there I wanted.

I was done BF shopping by about 8:30am. I was super tired since I hadn't gone to bed - so when I got home, I crashed!

Gporter34 reminded me of another (besides Best Buy): Office Max.

I used to shop there all the time, but after BF2004, I haven't shopped there again. They didn't have any structure setup at all for forming a line. I got my stuff fairly quickly and got in the line that was feeding all the registers. Then people just decided to form their own line. Of course, not knowing what to do, the cashiers started serving that line too. So people who got in line WAY after me got out WAY before me. I think I was stuck in that line for over 2 hours. Almost 2 years later, and the memory is still making my blood boil. Not even free computers could get me in the door there again.

Definately Wal-Mart! I hate that store anyway, but BF is just total madness! On the other hand, I LOVE camping out at BB. Last year we got there late though (around 3 am) so we missed the camera I wanted, but while we waited in the line the employees passed out free doughnuts, coffee, and t-shirts. It's a party around here and I'll definately be there this year (pregnant and all!!) They also seem the most organized. I don't know about other stores, but for the really hot items ours sends employees down the line hours before they open passing out cards for the items so there is no fighting or chaos. Year before last, I got the video camera I wanted and was able to do all my shopping and then just showed my card and they brought out my video camera-very civilized!

I can't step foot into Best Buy......horrible horrible horrible experiences in the past!

Last year I did go to Walmart but not for any electronics items only toys. We have a 24 hour Walmart so they had associates standing guard at the different displays holding the BF items. It was wild but I had no trouble getting the items I needed and checking out right away. Now, while I was there a huge fight in electronics broke out and the police came running through toys to get to it....glad I was not too close.

I did also go to Staples. The manager and associates came out before the store opened and handed out coupons for the BF items you were wanting to purchase. It made things very orderly. I took my coupons to the back stockroom where an associate took them and retrieved the items. I was in and out in about 15 minutes and this included purchasing and loading a desk.

I can't wait for this BF!

I do not and will not go to Wally World on bf. The last time I went was 9 years ago and I was 6.5 months pregnant. I saw a big lady in height and stature tower over this little old woman. She was cursing and acting a fool for a $5 crock pot. I went and found a manager, who didn't put the woman out of the store or anything. The little old lady was getting gifts for her family members and she only wanted the $5 items and said that is all she could afford. She really only had a couple of each item. When the other lady came along, she was mad that there were no more crock pots and that the old b*$%^ wasn't gonna cook anyway and she didn't need it. SHE TOOK THE CROCK POT RIGHT OUT OF THE CART and told her she wasn't gonna use it anyway. I was so pissed, one she had no right to act like that and two, management did nothing.

unless digital video cams and scanners fall from the sky, I won't be going to Best Buy. 4 years ago I went, stood out in the cold rain for 3 hours, got my laptop, but had to stand in line to pay for 2 hours! And back in 2004, I was 6 months pregnant with twins, and we went there to get some CDs, the line wrapped around the perimeter of the building to pay. There was no way I was standing in a 4 hour line to get the new U2 CD for 7.99 *L*

Now, the dream store for me is Staples. We have one about 2 minutes from our house. We go in there when it opens, everything is lined up near the door, everyone files in, gets what they want and leaves. There's no line, no fighting, no shortages. Heaven!

Well, the first year I did Black Friday was in 2004 and we got up at 4 just to have fun and see how it'd go and get some cheap video games. 2005 we camped out at Best Buy and were the firsts in line. They had to be the most organized place ever with the big stuff. THey had "coupons" or tickets to get your stuff so you were guranteed to get it no matter what. It was quick and easy. We screwed up with the line and had to wait a crap load longer than we should of but it was all good. We normally go to the mall afterwords and Target has got to be the worst place in my area cause the line is litterally 2-3 hours long....

BB is definately a place to go with 2 people. Once they open the doors, one gets in line to pay and the other grabs the merchandise.

I always seem to luck out and end up paying by the digital cameras where there is never anyone .. sometimes they will kick you out if you're not buying something from their department .. but I always seem to be buying either a cell phone or MP3 player from BB on BF .. lol

Last year one made the national news because when when they opened the doors everybody rushed in and a couple of people got pushed down and injured. I don't go to that one. I go to the Super Walmart about 15 miles from me, it's 24hrs. Last year they let you stand by what you wanted and even make small piles of what you wanted, you just couldn't put it in your cart. It had to be "on" the sales floor. People were helping each other out and handing things down the line so that eveybody could get what they wanted. They only place to stay away from was electronics. I got there at 4 am and could have gotten one of the laptops but decided to head to toys instead.

Wal Mart - without a doubt!

Honestly, I think people who don't shop all year long think that they HAVE to go to Wal Mart on BF!

Best Buy is actually the first place I usually go. My dad and I went last year and the line outside was long, but they were offering coffee, hot chocolate and donuts while you waited. They also passed out tickets for the items you wanted and let you know if anything you were standing in line for was already spoken for. That was good for some who didn't have to wait to find out the product was already sold out.

I work at a Walmart and I'm not looking forward to BF this year. We are in the middle of becoming a SuperCenter so the building is in construction and the parking lot is awful. I'm actually hoping that most people will forgo our store this year because of the construction.

Best Buy. No thanks. Won't do it. Maybe the year I decide to buy a big HDTV I'll consider them or Circuit City, whichever have the best deal.

Stores like BB you must have two people. One must immediately go to the checkout line. I'm not sure if that will work as I've never been there to test it, they may make you leave the store or something - I am purely guessing.

My very first BF was last year. I went to Walmart with a freind of mine and we got there at 5:55am. People outside already had carts b/c the night before they set ALL the carts outside and only one set of slidding doors was going to open. So when the doors opened it was a mess. Everyone was pushing and trying to get in the door and people where hitting carts together. So we get in and all was good in the store. We didn't have alot to get so it was no big deal that we didn't have a cart. And you know...I think that was the first time I had ever seen every single register opened. But we had a good experiance and I can't wait till BF this year. I'm bringing 2 friends with me this time. Happy shopping everyone.

I've never been to a BF before. I know what WM's like on a regular day therefore I refuse to get up out of my sleep, that early in the morning for people to show me their true colors when it comes down to the last hottest toy on the shelf!!!

Its always a toss up with Best buy or Walmart...if its a couple of items i want at BB ill get them at walmart if they carrying it (atleast thats what i am doing this year)...i try to avoid Best Buy if a can...last year i waited 2 and half hours for 4 items (dvds & cds), and...finding the items was easy...waiting in the line was the difficult part...would be nice if they had mini register systems that can express shopping (like 3 or 4 items...that would be good...something that doesnt involvce rebates or warranties etc.)...luckily i had family at Walmart to get the things there...boy did they wonder what happend to me...

I don't think you're nuts at all. I wouldn't go to walmart on BF either. There is nothing I have to have that would make me go shopping on BF at all for Christmas shopping. I find other things to do that day.:yup:

I will not go to Wal-Mart. but then agaiin, I dont shop there any day, ever. I refuse to support them. I usually end u-p going to BB every year, actaully finding something I want, and tehn realizing the line is *way* too long, lol. Maybe this year I will save my time.

Circuit City - Last year the one close to me was awful! They did nothing about the mob of jerks that came up to the door 15 min. before opening. They couldn't open on time due to computers being down or something, so they passed out $10 papers for gift cards. Of course these went to the folks who had ben standing at the door for 20 min., not those who stood in line for 5+ hours. If I hadn't been one of the first in line I would have been out of luck. I felt bad for the folks who waitied at the back of the line around the corner for a couple hours.

I went to talk to one of the managers after checking out. There were some obvious things they could do to keep things more organized (Stuff I've seen at Best Buy). She was of course busy, but gave me a look that said, "As a mere shopper here you couldn't possibly know how to make anything better. We managers have done everything that could be done , and this is the abolute best it can get." Why did I bother.

I'm sure each store is different depending on the management, but every year I have gone to Best Buy it has been insanely crowded, but also very well organized, to keep things from getting out of hand.

Walmart.
Watching people fight over toys -- really fight, to the point of cops arresting them both -- doesn't put me in the holiday spirit.

That's why I go shopping on BF! The entertainment value...HILARIOUS! :sidesplit Nothing puts me in the holiday spirit like a good laugh.

I made the mistake a few years ago of going to KB Toys first a few years ago. I got there at 3:30 and didn't get out of the store until 7:30 (single-file line, only 15-20 people allowed in the store at a time, police guarding the entrance and exit). It's a good thing I didn't have much on my list that year!

So far here everywhere is pretty civilized, although at Wal Mart one year my husband was supposed to grab the Barbie Jeep that they had only 3 of. He got a pretty good bop on the head from a large woman (with a huge handbag).

I have to say that on BF I am an equal opportunity shopper!! If there's something I need-I'm there. We have several malls in our area and we usually hit 3 of them plus Wal-Mart, Target, Office Max, Stapels...well basically if it's open we go!!! Last year I left my house at 3:30am and got home at 10pm. My husband jokes that it's the one day of the year I'm out of bed and dressed by 9a.m.!! (he thinks he's funny).

Kmart just because it isn't near any other store in town and also because

Best Buy. I went two (or was that three?) years ago to get the CD "How to Disable an Atomic Bomb" because it was $1 less than anywhere else. That's all I went out for in the afternoon.

I found that they had over 200 of them in a box, so the rush was unnecessary (I think the sale went on for a week). I took my purchase to the cash register, and was told by a lady who reminded me of the elf in "A Christmas Story" who said, "What are you doing, kid? The line starts back THERE!" *points her finger in an arc that traces the checkout line from the registers to the washing machines, ice boxes, vaccuums, stereos, all the way back in a 270 degree arc to the computer section, where a clown with balloons stood to mark the start of the line.

It felt like a big joke. I thought for sure she was laughing at me.

I had to wonder why the clowns carrying the balloons around the store weren't doing anything to speed the checkout process up. It seemed like it was Best Buy's tactic to slow me down for the rest of the day, to prevent me from making any more purchases from other competiting electronics stores.

And the icing on the cake was that BB employees were coming down the lines shouting out items -- only instead of saying, "Hotdogs, beer, popcorn!", they were shouting out titles of DVD's and CD's that they were carrying in their hands, and people would lift their hand up in the air if one of the titles interested them.

Not a bad sales technique, as they had a captive audience, and people were getting tired and would happily buy Rosie O'donnel's Christmas Album that was being sold with the digitally remastered Chipmunks Xmas Carol album... :eyepoppin

If I were to do it again this year, my strategy would be tol immediately get in line with my hands empty, and then have the BB employees bring me the items -- so that I could advance 2 minutes in line rather than fish for the item myself.

Just where do they get off?

well...lol...i dont think i will answer that..ok i will, but they only cater to the young adult generation...they dont want the parents or older ppl in there cuz they dont want the parents knowing how much their kid is buying...well actually thats not totally accurate..its more like the parents wont allow them to buy as much stuff if the kids were by themselves...does that make more sense...lol

Toys R Us. They are very poorly set up to deal with a Black Friday crowd, at least the one that me and hubby had the misfortune to find outselves in. We had went there one Black Friday trying to find a gift for a friends son. We somehow wondered into a check out line in our search for an item. Some lady bawled us out big time for jumping a line that we didn't realize we were in. This happened several years ago and we have not been back to Toys R Us on a Black Friday since.

Walmart... I used to go there every year. Last year I didn't go. I was about second in line the year before last and the pushing and shoving when they opened..ha what a joke.. they open those doors and the whole backside of the line pushes forward. I'm not getting smashed against the glass or watching other people get hurt no more. Too much for me.

Won't go to Kmart - only one in our town. Parking lot is heinous, lines terribly long, the shopping carts *yep this is true* won't fit through the cash register lanes, they never have the stuff from the ads during the rest of the year, why would they on BF? Not enough cashiers.

Won't go to Best Buy - The line to pay is just insane. Hours long. There's actually a store staff member holding up a sign that says 'the end of the line is here', as a place marker.

I will go to Walmart - but at about 9 am. Taking all the other ads to price match. This works so well for DVD's that are in the OTHER ads that are not in the Walmart ad. The store is basically a ghost town at that hour since the early risers have already paid and left and the casual shoppers aren't awake yet.

Definitely Best Buy. I was sucked in by their adverts and drug my Mom out one year. The minute we stepped in we were floored (literally and figuratively!). The only reason we stuck it out was for a few gifts for my hubby and brother-in-law (two of the hardest to shop for in our family). Once there, their "deals" were rebates (not advertised) and the line (two hours with a baby) were too much. Not worth it.
