Is this sonething they do every year?

I believe they have for at least the last two-three years. Last year I was all by myself out in the blowing snow to get one. The year before, my SIL and I went to the store at the other end of the mall because it opened earlier- so we ran all the way down the mall to get to Sears to get a g/c only to find out that they had all the door connecting the mall and sears closed and locked. You could'nt even get OUT of the mall near Sears- you had to go all the way back to the other store and go through THAT store to get out!

We were ticked!

When I went to Sears the person a few people in front of me got the last one, I was pretty mad. :(

I went with my mom once last year to get one. It really wasn't worth it in my opinion. I just can't find alot to buy there. The weekend we went was two weeks after BF and I had already fininshed all my shopping.

Two years ago I had one grabbed right out of my hand. I felt bad for the store employee, she was being mobbed. Never went near Sears last BF.

Wow ours is very organized. They only give out at one door and they count before hand and let you know where the end of the line is. They also had security outside along with donuts and coffee :D. DD was excited that she got a GC too ... she was 12 then.

I went a couple years ago with DD - who was 6 then. She got one too! She used hers to get her brother some PJs

Yep, they are supposed to be doing it again this year. My DH works for Sears and they haven't rec'd anything yet stating differently. Also, they have a TON of 10.00 gc's in stock.

I Know its only one per household but my daughter wouldn't get one, which would be no big deal, but every other person in line behind her got one even if they were together. She was mad, she had her own money to spend too!

I thought it was 1 per person, not household...

I waited in line early, while my mom waited in my van to stay warm. She came up before they opened and we both got a GC. I used mine to buy the Foot spa they had on sale and she used hers to buy my daughter a PJ set. :)

well your daughter doent live with you...she could be "living with her dad" so its a different household...i always thought it was 1 per person too.. but just cause people are togehter on black friday does not mean they live in same house.i always went with someone and noone lived in my house.

last year, they wouldn't give them to anyone under 18. There was a Sears Grand that opened in the nearby mall (not on BF) and they handed out gift cards. They were supposed to start at 7 am and we got there 6:45 and they said they had been gone for an hour!!! Complaints got us no where, only an apology via email. and yea, l had a hard time finding something to buy last year at Sears.

Last year me and dh got one but they said you had to be 18 so dd didn't get one.

Yep, they are all worth 10.00. If you're lucky you can get a nice mgr. who will give them to your kids too.

I dont think it is worth the time standing out in the cold for a lousy $10 GC. It would have to be alot more before I would be standing out there. LOL

Will do. Usually have them by the end of Oct. unless they choose to be stingy with their secrets!

We got them last year after waiting outside in the FREEZING COLD. We did hear them asking kids how old they were and wouldn't give them to the kids! (anyone under 16 or was it 18).........I can always find stuff to buy at sears-TOOLS TOOLS TOOLS are always on the lists of folks I have to buy for! :D

I always go to sears :) i save up sears GCs from other things thru the year. Last year I got hubbys mp3 player for ~10.00 after GCs, and got 30.00 MIR on it :)

Our Sears is kinda hidden away, so no one ever thinks about it. I'm going to try it this year!

How many of you take your kids with You?I have only done it once when they were little little because they would not remember seeing the items in my cart when they opened them on christmas morning. Now they are almost 12,7,and 6 and I think dh has to work the morning after.I dont know what I will do with them.

It's for their BF sale. They have a limited amount so people have to get in line pretty early for them.

They do, but they usually have less gift cards to give out.

We only have Sears Hardware Stores around here. The main holiday ad say "first 100 or 200" get gift cards, but at the hardware store only 20-25 cards are handed out. Caused some problems one year. They only give per household here too. No kids. I've got one every year. Now you can use them at Kmart too, I believe.

I agree make sure you wait at the right door. I work for Sears and I hate to say this but we always change what doors we give them out at. The first year I worked we did them only at the upper level entrance. Other years we split them up and gave them at all doors excpet merchandise pick-up. We never give them out there because that is how the associates get in the store before opening hours. I guess all stores will be different though.

I got the gf last year @<hidden> 9 am SEARS was empty.

I was so :mad: at ours today, that I walked out, last year they told me I should have stopped in as they had a bunch, and so we go this year, at 15 min after, and was told they only got 25 this year, adn were gone as they opened the doors. I turned to hubby and told him forget, I would take him shopping elsewhere, where we were not gonna be lied to!!!
