How many go shopping on Turkey day?? Last year I got up early and went out Thanksgiving and found some great deals at Big Lots. I will be looking out for those deals again this year.:yup:

Before we moved, we had a Big Lots and a Kmart within 3 minutes of our house. I went on Turkey day, but never found anything cause I didn't go early. Now it's not close, so probably not.

I only went once, and it was last year. I went to K-Mart and I haven't been there in 3-4 years. It was rather disappointing.

I only go if there is a GOOD deal that I really want to buy something in particular for someone on my list. Last year I bought my brother in law an IPOD shuffle at Meijer for $50 after rebate on Thanksgiving day. It was worth it and I was able to get a local paper early and read it while standing in line.

I've gone to KMart for the last two years to get the BOGO games. Since I buy for a Childhood Cancer Foundation and we give them to children's hospitals for kids in the hospital over holidays, it helps us out a lot! Think last year I was early enough for the DVD special too.
I plan on going again this year, but it will depend on the deals.

Never done the shopping on Turkey day...but there is always a first....if there is a absolute great buy, then yes I will venture out!

When we had a KMart, I went there every year on Thanksgiving Day. Now the only place we have that has sales on Thursday is Big Lots. If they have something good that I really want, I will put the turkey on and go, if not, I just stay here, cook, and prepare for BF!LOL

I went out to K-mart for the game boy classic game for $20.

Last year DH and I went to 2 different K-marts on Thanksgiving so that we could get in on the sales, we got the Disney DVD's and the BOGO games.

Does Wal Mart do Thanksgiving day sales? I believe I remember seeing people at Wal Mart last year on that day--however I'm not aware of good sales. It's 10 minutes away from me, so if they did, I'd probably go for a bit in the am.

I usually see what is on sale at Kmart and if it is something that I need then I will go out early. If not, I wait until I get turkey in oven and then go out.

I don't go shopping on Thanksgiving. We have dinner at noon and live out in the boondocks so we have to drive an hour to shop as it is. No time...

I usually like to head to K-mart on Turkey day, but this year I may go to Wally World 1st. It gets me in the spirit for BF. :)

I don't think I went last year because I wanted to save up my energy because I had just had surgery the previous week and I wanted to go out on BF so I didnt want to push myself and now this year I doubt im going because I am going to be 8 months pregnant and I am going to still need to save up my energy for BF

Went to K-mart last year. Got caught in a bad snow storm on the way home, but I will go again this year if there is something I really want. I don't have to cook so my mornings are free.

I don't think any of our local K-Marts can open on T-day, at least they
never have to my knowledge. I live in Mass and I am pretty sure it
violates the "blue laws". I would go if it were open however.
We have a rather unusual T-day here anyways, we go to a new movie
and eat Chinese food...its different but its our tradition for the past

My mom and I go to Kmart on Thanksgiving evening, usually. They sometimes have CD's and video games really cheap. We also hit Big Lots to get some wrapping paper for our BF purchases.

I have not been in a good while. Last time I went was at Kmart and it was for the games they had some really good sale don't remember what now. Anyway can remember someone stole my cart ... my lesson in never leave your cart. Walked from the back to the front of the store with about 10-15 games stacked up dropping them all the way, and saying choice words. :rant: I would go back though if they ever had a good deal again.

I go every year to Kmart. Last year my DH got the DVD/VCR combo at Big lots for like 30 or 40 bucks bad thing is like less then 30 days after we opened it the damn thing broke. The taps wouldn't come back out. When I took it back with the recipet I got my money back because they didn't carry them anymore.

i'm a nurse. so we have to work on all holidays. in order for me to have off BF, i have to work on thanksgiving. 7am-7pm with almost an hour drive each way. no shopping for me.

I will probably go to the px(military department store) first and then to K-mart.

I usually work the night before Thanksgiving so I stop at Kmart on my way home. I did happen to go one year when they had the new hot wheels cars and there was alottery to get first dibs on the cases

Kmart always has good GameBoy Advance games for my daughter (kids ones). Last year I bought one of each. Cute games at a great price. That alone makes it worth it to me to run out there

Went last year but they were all out of what I came for I think (my memory is very foggy on this one). So I might go depending on what they have on sale, but I will make sure to go EARLY this time.

Well, I don't think its sacreligious but it would be nice if all the stores were closed T-day and Christmas so that people can have a day with their families but on the same vein, my husband doesn't get paid holidays so if he takes off, he works another day for it or we just don't have his income for that day. He works all days like memorial, labor, president day-anyday like that. There are also people that really don't celebrate Thanksgiving and would prefer maybe to out shopping instead of home since they have it off. I use to work in a Video shop when I was in college and volunteered to come in and work since I didn't have family to be with so that some of the family people can have the time off. I hope that stores give a choice to employees to work those days and pay them extra-I am sure thats not the case but nice thought huh.....LOL

I didn't go last year nothing that thrilled me but I have gone before. Love the Big Lots freebies still using my clock I got a few years ago!

I think Big Lots was giving away free clocks if you were one of the first so we got those on Thanksgiving. Will do it again this year. I'm saving my money because I can't wait!

I used to love Big Lots, it was the BEST place for underwear! But alas, they closed ours. Likewise with our KMart. Maybe Meijers this year. There's a lot of time waiting for that turkey to get done.

Honestly I have WAY to much cooking and stuff to do to go out shopping, luckily for the last 6 years the kids stay at grandmas and grandpas thanksgiving night so my husband and I can get up early and do the shopping

I have gone to Garden Ridge in the evening for the last few years. It's hardly ever busy and I get to see the sales before the mobs come in. I have been to KMart a few times, but I don't know what else is open.

yup we usually go out. the last couple of years I've went to kmart for the $7 gameboy games for my nephews. Last year we also went to meijer for the digital cameras and sil got an ipod--I hope they have them this year, I want one!!

I am always out on turkey day shopping. My mom & I would go to Shopko & K-Mart. Now that we dont have a K-Mart, it is just Shopko. Our Walmart now is opened on turkey day cause of it being a super store but they really dont have nothing special on this day. We still go there to pick up any extra stuff to avoid having the trouble of getting it on BF. LOL

I go to Kmart for the Gameboy games. Usually don't see anything else that strikes my fancy there. I usually go for the opening or there wouldn't be any left and I can get back home in time to make our meal. We have no Big Lots, so Kmart is pretty much the only store open on Thanksgiving Day here.

Our Kmart manager was really nice last year. Since it was extremely cold, he let us come in the little foyer area before the store opened.

I was number 6 and he was number 7 in line, well when we got to the check out we learned he had a $500 gift card so any place that offers free gift cards, i will sit in line all night to take that chance, by the way my gift card was for $1. geeeze

I always seem to find myself at Kmart first thing that day..and drive down to Meijer...they both usually have pretty good sales...especially if you know what the other stores are going to have..you can get the items that arent on sale then then, and then you dont have to worry about it the next day

and how can someone NOT walk into Kmart...i mean yes years ago it was a disaster (bankruptcy and no stock of most items due to that)...but at least the ones here have cleaned and kept up with store layouts and getting stuff in...i guess its a YMMV thing...

We went there last year on Thanksgiving and really made out like a bandit! the games were buy 1 get one free. It was great. I am not a Kmart shopper otherwise, but plan to be back again this year!:cheesy:

Kmart every year. Best thing ever was the gameboy sp that was hot that year for 49.99. kmart were shipped the wrong gamboys as they were advertised as the old gameboys. so that year my son got a gameboy sp. i orginally i was going to tru to get one for 109.00

It's almost become tradition for us to venture out in the evening to KMart after the festivities are over. There have been some great deals to be had, and I enjoy shopping with little crowds, and good deals, as not many people shop that day at my local store.
BL is a little further away, and unless the deals are REALLY good, I haven't been there yet on T-Day.
Someone said sacreligious...I don't see it that way. Christmas, Easter, Hannukah...shopping on THOSE days would be sacreligious, but T-Day isn't a religious holiday. (However, you're right in that we would have to thank Someone...so in that regard, ok, I'll give you that one. I'm thankful, but I'm still going shopping ;) )

FWIW, here's my "usual & customary:"

I don't bring a purse. I bring my Debit Card, a Credit card if I think I might make a major purchase, and my license. I realized a long time ago that I don't NEED any of the stuff in my purse while I'm shopping. I make sure that any "personal" necessities are taken care of right away, so I can shop for hours without...well, you know the rest. Sorry, TMI there.

But seriously, I put it all in my back pocket, and my arms are free for shopping bags and I don't worry about my purse getting stolen.

My husband and I took the kids to a neighboring town one year on tday because meijers had bean bag chairs for $9.99 and my nephew wanted one. Boy was my mom mad when we were late for dinner!!:mad: But it was great for us as we found him a camoflauge one (he's into hunting) for a great price!!! :D

Yup, pillow sales are good too at Kmart. I also go for gameboy advance games and cds.

I guess you can say I will be shopping on Turkey Day/Night because I work part time at an Auction and Thanksgiving Night is always their big Christmas Auction. So I will be buying a lot of things there that night! You can always get lots of great deals on everything that night and it's all NEW stuff!:D

The only Big Lots around me is a horrible, wretched stinking mess. I went there twice, about 5 days apart, and the same bag of dog food ripped open and scattered all over the floor that I saw the first time was still in the same place the second time. No one bothered to clean it up. Lots of merchandise was broken and not worth buying. It gave me the heebie jeebies and I felt like I needed a shower when I left. That was the last time I set foot in that store.

I think we will probably go this year. We usually fry out turkey so it is later in the day when we get everyone together and eat.. hubby does the turkey cooking so as long as I can get my part done he won't care if I shop in the morning.

Come on Thanksgiving. Between Thanksgiving day and Black Friday should be able to make a large hole in the old budget.:cheesy:

There were a few things I wanted to grab at K-Mart this Thanksgiving. Since my hubby works on Thanksgiving we will not be celebrating that day and I will have time to do some shopping.

I wanna try and get the :crossfingers that this one wins: good deal of the xbox 360 from amazon. so no going anywhere for me, well until after 2:00.

I LOVE TO SHOP, but I refuse to go on the actual holiday. My heart goes out to all of the people who are unable to spend the holiday with their families because they have to work. People in the medical field are one thing, hospitals must stay open. But I can wait a day to go to KMart.
