View Full Version : Kohl's one of my favorite Black Friday stops
codeblue 9-9-2006, 3:58 PM I love Kohl's on Black Friday they usually have some good sales especially Fisher Price and Little Tyke toys(usually 50%) for the little ones. I also save my MVC extra 15% coupon to use that day which makes the already good buys even better. I can remember for my DD first christmas(2001) a stock boy came out with an empty stock basket so I could put everything in it. Since we still have little ones in the family I look forward to the toy sale.
I'll have to check it out here, they're getting ready to open one in October here!! :)
mitchandalisha 9-9-2006, 11:21 PM I really like Kohl's as well. I wish they would give gift cards at the door like they have done in the past years (maybe 2 or 3 years ago).
RossMAN 9-9-2006, 11:24 PM Kohl's finally opened a few stores in my area, it's about time!
Tessangel 9-10-2006, 9:12 PM We just got a Kohl's earlier this year. I used to have to drive 2 hours to get to one. I can't wait to see what there black friday deals are.
blakes_mommy 9-10-2006, 9:41 PM I agree, Kohls is good on black friday. They haqd a lot of stuff left when I went at 11
Haven't tried Kohl's before on BF, but now there is one just a couple of miles away, problem is, opposite side of town from Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc, etc.
But an awesome BF Kohl's ad would keep me on that side of town. :)
I'll have to check it out here, they're getting ready to open one in October here!! :)
They'll have some excellent Grand Opening sales. At their prices, I'm able to replace most of my work clothes every year or two.

Maybe the grand opening of the new Kohl's in my area will hold me until BF 2006.
The countdown for BF started early on my calendar, DH says I start it earlier and earlier each year.
ive never been to kohls before either on BF !!! were the deals good ??
bugsette 9-12-2006, 4:07 PM alot of toys
Shonette 9-14-2006, 4:37 PM Last year I went for GameCube games. I ended up not getting ones that were on sale and I had to go to Customer service. Long story short, I was way too nice about the whole thing  (I was trying to get to Target before they sold out). I will watch the ad more carefully this year. :eyepoppin
blakes_mommy 9-15-2006, 2:34 PM half off almost all the toys!
Melissa 9-17-2006, 7:32 PM They have some good sales, but a lot of their stuff is way overpriced to begin with, so 50% off just brings it down to a "normal price".
Rockfordmom 9-18-2006, 12:03 AM Last year they had a great deal on a portable dvd player (with a screen) - that's what I went there for - and a lot of their toys are a good deal when they are 1/2 off.
dmintelsgt 9-19-2006, 9:41 AM Kolh's was a mad house last year, but I got some really good buys, I hope our local store gets it act together this year, the lines were HORRIBLE last year. I think generally their stuff is over priced so they are able to give "Big" discount deals that make it look better then they really are... their luggage was a very good deal at 70% off last year though..
They'll have some excellent Grand Opening sales. At their prices, I'm able to replace most of my work clothes every year or two.
Awesome, I always need new clothes. I hate to shop though,
NeepNeep 9-20-2006, 3:19 PM No Kohl's in my immediate area. But depening on the BF ads, if they had something I was looking for, at a great price, I'd certainly give them a try and make the drive...

You could always order online and get the same deals.
October 5th, 2006 is the opening date for our Kohls! :)
mesarobins 9-21-2006, 10:57 PM They have some good sales, but a lot of their stuff is way overpriced to begin with, so 50% off just brings it down to a "normal price".
That is my experience too. I love their clearance but even on sale I find most of there stuff is overpriced. Would take a really good BF sale to get me there.
cactusmom 9-25-2006, 8:49 AM Wow, I may have to try KOHLS this year. It has become one of our favorite stores this year, mostly for the clearance items though.
BFQueenofNY 9-25-2006, 8:58 AM I am so glad I listened to my mil when she said to get a credit card to Kohl's. The sales are good and then you get even more off most times.
I am looking forward to seeing their sales on BF, but it is too far away for door busters
threelittlecupcakes 9-26-2006, 10:54 AM I love my Kohl's store. I go there way too much during the year. But on BF it is insane - the checkout lines were all the way to the back of the store.
mangreg99 9-27-2006, 2:59 PM October 5th, 2006 is the opening date for our Kohls! :)
We have 2 Kohls opening close enough to us the same day (Oct. 5th). They are both one hour or so away north and south of us. I can't wait I've never been to Kohls.
Dee
elena_398 9-28-2006, 11:46 PM I can honestly say I've never stopped by Kohls on BF. My kids are too old for Little Tykes items and Fisher Price (those are the things they seem to advertise in toys for BF) and neither kid ever needs clothes. No matter how cheap. My 6 year old daughter alone has 2 full closests. My son has a full closet, dresser, and under the bed storage full.
jellybean051901 9-29-2006, 2:56 AM We went to Kohls after WM last year and they still had a lot of the sale items available
l_lhennessy 9-29-2006, 2:15 PM Last year we did the best at Kohls!
That is our #1 stop in 2006!
Even found a CPK with my DD's birthdate and a LMax at a great price.
Like orginal poster said, save your 15% off coupon.
Last year for every $50 spent I believe, they gave you $10 to spend the next week! I think I did about 85% of my shopping at Kohls.
l_lhennessy 9-29-2006, 2:16 PM Oh wanted to add they had a lot of games & plug & play as well as some craft kits (was surprised by this) for my 10 & 11 y/o nieces.
Something for everyone!
rduncan 9-30-2006, 11:34 AM Locally there are two Kohl's opening in a few days. The problem, as I see it, is the closest one shares a parking lot with a Staples (or is it Office Max??), a Best Buy, is across the street from a Circuit City and Sams Club and close to a Wal-Mart. I can just see the traffic on BF!!!
sigrist_2000 9-30-2006, 11:49 AM I'll have to check it out here, they're getting ready to open one in October here!! :)
they are opening one (Marion, OH) here too in October...October 5...i believe..so i bet that is the same date yours will open too...
Diamond_girl 10-3-2006, 7:46 PM I love the Kohl's near my house on Black Friday! I usually go there after Walmart and find good deals on clothing, outerwear, toys and jewelry. The lines last year were all the way to the back of the store, but they were moving like crazy! And they wound up extending the Early Bird specials by quite a few hours.
Gator Pam 10-12-2006, 4:50 PM Maybe the grand opening of the new Kohl's in my area will hold me until BF 2006.
You need to come go Perimeter Perusing at Target (http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=14835) with us here for that BF buzz throughout the year.
Bunniq 10-12-2006, 4:57 PM You need to come go Perimeter Perusing at Target (http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=14835) with us here for that BF buzz throughout the year.
Yes I have the Perimeter Perusing at Target bug now! lol I found some great deals and yes it was a nice buzz.
The Kohl's grandopening did nothing for my BF need lol but the deals I found at Target sure did!
I love GottaDeal and the wonderful people here!
carla0922 10-12-2006, 5:48 PM Where I live (massachusetts) we have this place called shoppers world and there's a TRU, Old navy, Barnes & Noble, Office max, Best buy, TJmaxx, Marshall, Dsw, Babies R us, bob's, AC Moore All sharing the same lot. The Kohls, Wlamart and target are likely not it the same lot but there right accross the street. It will be my first time going there for BF. Oh hey and the Mall is also right there. I can't wait. I only wish that I had someone to got with.
angelas29 10-12-2006, 6:09 PM I have a target and kohl's in the same parking lot and love to go to both places for bf. I also go by myself as my family will have no part in it.
stephsbox 10-14-2006, 4:15 PM If you don't live near a Kohls and want to take advantage of BF sales you can order online- do it early though like before you leave to shop in the morning. They usually have a shipping deal (either free or $5) and you can stack your %off cc coupon with the sale prices - and you don't have to fight the lines :fluffy:
Deedum 10-15-2006, 10:56 PM I have a Kohls but I save it for online shopping, they lines are so bad on Black Friday... I have lots of places to shop, and things to do that day --can't stand in lines for hours.
ckemp7 10-18-2006, 6:22 PM at toys r us right now little tikes has buy one get one free till the end of this week. 50% off is basically the same thing then you wouldnt have to wait
lar0713 10-21-2006, 8:39 PM I love Kohls on BF. I have done very well there the past couple of years. I have never tried ordering on line for BF from them but that may be an option I use this year it will depend on the ads. My Kohls is kind of by itself with the Christmas Tree shop although there is a LL Bean outlet there too which is pretty good to hit also on BF but then I need to run back about five - six miles to hit Target. I also go to my local scrapbook store for her early birds as she only has two sales a day and you can never have enough scrapbook stuff.
polve 10-22-2006, 12:10 AM Kohls BF 2005 was great! I bought every variety they had of the Geo Tracks last yr, can't go wrong with 50% off on the new line of trains they had. Do they normally have a good deal on kitchenaid mixers on BF? I am wanting to get a ice blue on for MIL this yr.
BabyFu18 10-22-2006, 12:46 AM I don't know if there will be anything at Kohl's on BF that will be of interest to me, unless they put kitchen electrics on sale for pretty cheap.
luv2shopnc 10-22-2006, 8:41 AM Kohls toy discounts are pretty good. This week leapster games were on sale for 17.99 which is cheaper than Walmart and Target
ChrisKsAngel 10-22-2006, 11:58 AM Locally there are two Kohl's opening in a few days. The problem, as I see it, is the closest one shares a parking lot with a Staples (or is it Office Max??), a Best Buy, is across the street from a Circuit City and Sams Club and close to a Wal-Mart. I can just see the traffic on BF!!!
I think we are going to have the same problem this year. We have a new shopping center that includes Sears, Kohl's, Toys R Us, and Circuit City. I can just see the traffic now!
But you know what I do love? I love driving to BF, because the roads are so empty and it is so peacful. Then you pull into the shopping center and WOW it is so full of life!
Anyways, our Kohl's is new, and while they have had some great opening sales, there regular prices are expensive so I hope they have some good BF deals.
LondonAtDark 10-23-2006, 9:19 PM The Kohl's near me opened up last October so last year I went their the 1st time on Black Friday. I did get some toys and some cute Christmas decorations all at 40-50% off.
This year my friends and I will caucus and see where to start our BF shopping:)
love2beurwifey 10-23-2006, 10:17 PM thanks I will have to check it out I have never been to one on black friday
Pigsmama 10-30-2006, 4:20 PM Kohl's usually has some great deals, and most of their clothes are nice, so you can always grab an outfit or 2 while there!! ;)
indymom46060 11-2-2006, 10:59 AM Kohl's is CRAZY on Bf here! We NEVER go there very early. We usually hit Walmart, Meijer and BB first-in teams- then get coffee and a quick bite, then moveon to Kohl's. Every year Kohl's has lines that wind all the way around to the back of the store. We have waited 2 hours to check out on BF. There are never enough carts either. We saw a woman a couple of years ago unload all of this other woman's stuff out of one onto the floor and took off with it. Talk about a fight! They had to pull these women apart and made them both leave the store. At least we had entertainment while we were waiting in line..lol. They do have some good deals though, especially on jewlery.
lar0713 11-2-2006, 11:33 AM Kohls BF 2005 was great! I bought every variety they had of the Geo Tracks last yr, can't go wrong with 50% off on the new line of trains they had.
OMG!!! I would love to find some Geo Track stuff at 50% off this year. I bought a smaller starter piece for my great Nephew but would love to add more pieces to my gift stash I keep especially if I get my 15% off coupon on top of it.
Kohl's toy sets are always a little different than you will find anywhere else. They will have extra pieces and more parts to sets. I know that I bought the FP Castle set and it had extra characters and extra castle parts that you had to pay separate for at other stores like Walmart, etc. When you take into account the extra goodies with the 50% off, you wind up getting a pretty good deal.
June
tazolover 11-5-2006, 12:15 AM I had never heard of Kohl's, but once our neighborhood store opened, my life has never been the same. If you work your coupons and watch clearance, you can get some fantastic deals.
As for BF, they have great deals on jewelry, toys, seasonal items (candles, etc) and small kitchen appliances. The past few years they have had the Kitchen Aid mixer as an Early Bird. I did BF there 2 years ago for a portable DVD player. It was crazy and fun.
GL! I love Kohls, esp online. I got my Dyson for 30% off the sale price earlier this year using online coupons.
ticktrek 11-5-2006, 11:36 PM My only problem with Kohls is that they don't clean their stores overnight and sometimes they are a mess for days. But their sales are really great.
Pigsmama 11-6-2006, 8:50 AM My only problem with Kohls is that they don't clean their stores overnight and sometimes they are a mess for days. But their sales are really great.
I worked at Kohl's one year for the Holiday season, needless to say everything I made they got right back - but I got some great deals on clothes for the family! As for the mess, let's say there's no hope. I worked in the men's dept. and we were there until 2.5 hrs after close and still couldn't get it looking good, they finally would just tell us to do the sides facing the isle and do the best you can on the rest. It was NEVER clean until a month after Christmas!! :yuck:
dswright 11-6-2006, 6:48 PM We spent more at Kohl's last year than everywhere else combined. The 15% off coupon, along with the 10 back for every 50 spent in certificates, we hauled over $350.00 in goods out the door, got a mail in rebate for the portable DVD player, and had 70 off the next purchase. It was crazy but worth it.
bigbandm 11-8-2006, 6:47 PM If you play your cards (or should I say discounts/coupons) you can get some really great deals.
zoemariesmamma 11-9-2006, 7:33 PM Kohls BF 2005 was great! I bought every variety they had of the Geo Tracks last yr, can't go wrong with 50% off on the new line of trains they had. Do they normally have a good deal on kitchenaid mixers on BF? I am wanting to get a ice blue on for MIL this yr.
this year kitchenaids are 10%-33% off...the artisan stant mixer 325 watts 10 speed 5 qt bowl is $299.99 after $20 mail in rebate
zoemariesmamma 11-9-2006, 7:36 PM early bird extra 15% off all stand mixers...kitchenaid classic plus stand mixer is $169.99 275 watts, 10 speeds, 4.5 qt bowl...199.99 after early bird is over
zoemariesmamma 11-9-2006, 7:39 PM If you don't live near a Kohls and want to take advantage of BF sales you can order online- do it early though like before you leave to shop in the morning. They usually have a shipping deal (either free or $5) and you can stack your %off cc coupon with the sale prices - and you don't have to fight the lines :fluffy:
shipping will be free on purchases of $75 or more bf-dec 18th
kathleenga 11-10-2006, 9:52 AM I keep getting $10 off cards. Signed up at the store during the grand opening in Oct. Just got another. You might want to see if your store has them
TerReuv 11-10-2006, 4:39 PM Love Kohls! Great clothes for juniors! Our solution to the long lines on BF - my mother, daugher and I go every year and my dad goes along to drive, carry pkgs! We always let him get in line and we go shop and just keep bringing things back to him! He visits with the others in line and is happy not to have to walk around with us! If he gets too close, he lets others get in line in front of him! Needless to say, I have a very understanding and patient dad!
Ups Tim 11-11-2006, 11:58 AM I wish I had someone who would do that for me.
mesarobins 11-11-2006, 8:59 PM Several of you have mentioned a 15% off coupon - where do you get those are they in the newspaper, store, mail?
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 9:24 PM Hey, everyone! I work for kohl's.It is quite terrible, but the black Friday deals are gonna b great! fine Jewelry is gonna b (60 + 20 ) 80% off and if your a mvc holder thats an additional 15% off (coupons will be mailed next week or so, but u have to have a kohls charge). the jewelry is practically free. lol great deals!
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 9:27 PM If you dont have a kohls charge get one its free and you get 12 savings a year some up to 30% off. Payments can be made after you purchase on your kohls charge at the register too. its really easy. and you get a % off just for when you apply, appoved or not! Any questions just reply, i'll be glad to answer any questions.
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 9:31 PM Its the same for this year too..... for every $50 you spend you get 10 in kohls cash to use at a later date
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 9:43 PM :eyepoppin. Great tip for kohls shoppers: On the Wednesday before Black Friday go to kohls get all of the stuff you want to buy and either put it on hold or buy it. On friday you can buy it or get a price adjustment at customer service without shopping with all the crazies out. Thats what all the employees do; it is the easiest and best way
megnsamsgrace 11-11-2006, 9:51 PM Are you serious? The only thing I want there is the CPK dolls!
blessedmamax7 11-11-2006, 9:59 PM Yeah but can you get it for the early bird prices?
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:15 PM Yes! The Early Birds come off automatically . the sales ad should say until 1 pm put the prices are in the computer system until 2
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:17 PM The only thing early birds are , are reduced sales prices, you can use your coupon towards anthing you buy in the store, exept the $5 kohls cares for kids stuff and gift cards
sanam 11-11-2006, 10:18 PM i love the cashmere sweaters tht will be on sale fr 35 bucks... cant miss that....
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:20 PM The Cpk dolls are selling very quickly i would reccomend buying them on wed then getting the price adjustment on fri because they will be gone. you can get a price adjustment up to 10 days after you purchase the items. just bring the receipt you dont need the merchandise.
sanam 11-11-2006, 10:22 PM thanks Christina for all the tips ... thats a great help!!!
blessedmamax7 11-11-2006, 10:38 PM I called and they said they would not price adjust the early specials. Maybe it depends on the store. They also said they would not hold anything. OK how bout this if you go into Kohl's late on Wednesday maybe the registars will already have started the reduced prices.
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:55 PM No. they do it for sure because we cant say no , employees get in trouble for that ..lol
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:56 PM Nope the prices start on friday morning lol
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:59 PM I do price adjustments for early birds all the time. Customer service has to do it.
Christina2699 11-11-2006, 10:59 PM Theres no exeption for bf
megnsamsgrace 11-12-2006, 12:01 AM Thanks Christina, I was going to go in and buy 2 on Wednesday and just do the price adjustment FR am. Do you know how much they are going for? We are looking for the kids or the one with the puppy or the color changing hair. I have two on layaway right now, for $19.72... but I am sure Kohls will beat that price?
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 12:11 AM The CPK dolls are gonna b 55% off but im not sure what the original price is. i think the cpk babies ones are gonna b 17.99
lguty 11-12-2006, 12:19 AM I love shopping at Kohls, but I've never shopped at Kohls on BF since I usually start at Walmart or the Mall. This year I may consider if the prices are worth it.
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 12:21 AM Hey I just checked it out . the original prices on the cabbage patch dolls range from 24.99 - 29.99, so 55% of that . Kohl's, i think is going to be the cheapest all the other stores like toys r us and walmart are like around 19.99
mrs.cleaver 11-12-2006, 12:50 AM Kohl's and Target are my all time favorite stops on BF. I have noticed that the Kohl's shopping hours are extended this week on a 7am-midnight basis(Wed,Fri,Sat). On Wednesdays Kohl's has a great mid-week ad and once a month cater to the senior citizens.
I totally agree with the poster above saying that "go shop Wednesday prior to BF" and get all your shopping list done.:holiday10
blessedmamax7 11-12-2006, 8:02 AM I called again and talked to "Susan" and she said I can go on Wednesday, buy everything, return it Friday and rebuy it. I am going to go in on Wednesday and buy it all and first try the price adjustment. (Our Kohl's just opened in October so maybe they don't have a clue.) If the price adjustment doesn't work I will calmly go to the car and bring it all in and return it and rebuy it. She said I could do that.
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 10:46 AM there is no reason why they cant to the price adjstment, but if they wont do it its a great idea too return it and buy again. atleast u will get everything u want and it wont b picked over.
itsvanilla 11-12-2006, 11:12 AM there is no reason why they cant to the price adjstment, but if they wont do it its a great idea too return it and buy again. atleast u will get everything u want and it wont b picked over.
Wrong....Yes they can price adjust but in order to get the Kohls cash it would have to be returned and repurchased. Do you have any idea what the lines will be like at customer service.???????
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 11:51 AM yes but thats better than shopping around with all the people ... you have to wait in line anyway when u check out. if u wait to fri everything will b picked over. i worked last bf and there was nothing left, people are scavengers!!!!!!!
blessedmamax7 11-12-2006, 4:54 PM Yes and I figure if I go to Wallyworld first and then head on over to Kohl's then I will just wait in line like everyone else but I won't miss the sales at Wallyworld or Target or whereever!
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 6:08 PM yes wallyword is awesome...lol
pogiporkchop 11-12-2006, 6:58 PM Kohl's may be my #1 favorite stop this year:)
Christina2699 11-12-2006, 7:48 PM Ok everybody...... FOR SURE... there will be a MVC COUPON sent out from kohls this week... it is a pick a day.... the dates for it are NOV 15 - DEC 8....... so SAVE IT FOR BLACK FRIDAY
RealLivePrinces 11-14-2006, 2:19 AM We do not hold items for more than one day (and some stores only hold to the end of the business day). Doublecheck for your store's policy.
If you buy on Wednesday and return on Friday, you will have to get in line at the normal cash registers after returning - to keep things fair, they will not ring up sales at all at customer service (it's for returns and even exchanges only).
trace401 11-14-2006, 9:42 PM My store holds for three days. but i do like the idea of buying on weds then doing a price adjustment or returning then rebuying for the ten dollar coupon.
ramtough63 11-14-2006, 9:45 PM Never cared for Kohls but I guess I'll check it out.
btvsfreak 11-17-2006, 3:47 AM Christina2699, i was wondering if you maybe knew anything about the Guitar Hero game advertised in the BF ad. It says it's selling for 59.99 as an early bird special, but do you know if its the bundle, with the guitar and the strap and the game or just the game? My sister desperately wants the first GH for Christmas and this is the cheapest I have seen it. In the ad it shows the game and the guitar but i just want to make sure its actually a bundle and not just the game because i would hate to drive out there and be bummed out about that. Thank you!!
erikah 11-17-2006, 10:30 AM I received my MVC 15% off the other day in the mail. :)
RealLivePrinces 11-20-2006, 12:00 AM It says it's selling for 59.99 as an early bird special, but do you know if its the bundle, with the guitar and the strap and the game or just the game?
I'm not Christina2699, but I'm a department sup at Kohl's... we're selling a bundle, guitar+game.
btvsfreak 11-20-2006, 12:27 PM Thanks RealLivePrincess.
stevenla313 11-20-2006, 7:08 PM Does anyone know what time Kohl's opens Black Friday?
RealLivePrinces 11-20-2006, 11:19 PM 99.9% of stores will be opening at 5am.
